   I have never written a bad review before but this time I have to. I do not know how this restaurant got a Michelin star (and I have done a few already). Luckely we had Bread in the table of we would have gone out hungry. Everything was tasteless and some things came out of jars probably imported from Europe.

   Le Coucou is one of NYC's finest eating establishments and is perhaps the prettiest and most romantic setting in the City. The small menu is diverse, and the kitchen turns out delicious dishes. This is a very special place to enjoy a great dining experience.

    Le Coucou was one of if not the best culinary experience I’ve ever had. My husband and I came for our anniversary. Drinks - I had a glass of Syrah and my husband had a glass of Akul mezcal. I don’t normally like the smokiness of mezcal but I enjoyed this one. The drink markup is insane however. We decided to forgo the tasting menu and ordered a la cart. We started with a complimentary amuse-bouche. The exact name escapes me but it was some sort of tartine with anchovy. Then came sourdough and seaweed bread served with butter. So freshly baked, you could see the steam from the bread basket. For appetizer we had the Thon à la portugaise (yellowfin tuna, Madeira vinaigrette with raisins). All the flavors came together so nicely with the vinaigrette. This light start was the perfect first plate. For entrees, my husband ordered the Homard “Bourse et la Vie” (Maine lobster, sauce au poivre, pommes dauphine) and I ordered the Filet de boeuf, jus à la moelle, queue dans la boulangère (beef filet, bone marrow jus, oxtail potato). All impeccable. The oxtail potato was my favorite. Braised oxtail served in the center of a circle of soft, thin potato au gratin with crispy outsides. Like what?? On the lobster pepper sauce… so so good. I never had soft peppercorn like that. For dessert we had the Mille-Feuille (vanilla cream and caramel, fleur de sel) which was honestly just ok but then they gave us complementary dessert bites that were just AMAZING. Mini lemon macarons, decadent bites of chocolate ganache and the cutest warm lemon madeleines. Just perfect. I only wished I’d ordered an espresso to go with it all. Simply amazing. It left a smile on my face. The perfect ending to the meal.

    The service, the sommelier, the ambiance, and the food were incredible! Although with the drinks and wine it is the most I have ever spent on a dinner. But it was a very memorable experience!

    It was a great dinning experience and the food was very delicious. Beside my date unfortunately being served the wrong dish; she asked for “Bar noir, sauce presque coerce aux ecreevisses “ but was instead given the “Homard Bourse et la vie”. It’s hard to complain because the food and service and setting was perfect but otherwise a delightful evening.

    In general, the food was a little bit overpriced. From my personal perspective, the beef tartare is very mediocre: all i taste is saltiness because of the lack of the flavor in beef itself, and it could be replaced with tuna for better texture. The Maine lobster was a 4 out of 5 for its freshness and flavor. Good portion and interesting presentation. The grilled foie gras was good. Adding asparagus and morels made this the best dish for me. The flavor reminded of certain morel soup from China. Maybe it has some asian roots in seasoning. It was an worthy dinning experience. My score will be 7.4/ 10

Ambiance is wonderful, all the staff were very friendly and welcoming, service was terrific and the food … delicious and beautifully presented.     Absolutely fabulous - on par or beyond Michelin Star dining experiences we have had elsewhere. Only slight ding was that we felt rushed - perhaps due to a late reservation. Highest level with little pretension. Will return again.

    Wonderful hospitality and service from Daniela, who guided us towards fabulous and delicious dishes. A high point was the quenelle, expertly paired by Dylan the Som with an amazing white wine - Arbois Cuvée des Moyne. Lovely and elegant dining at its best!

    This was simply a meal that was beyond the beyond! The three of us were extremely happy diners. We sampled terrine, lobster appetizer, white asparagus with sea urchin sauce to start . All were outstanding and particularly the asparagus, as it is such a short season that I must eat it throughout the time it is available ! For mains we had the filet of beef with oxtail marrow, the tout la Lapin and the lobster with pepper sauce. All were amazing . The service was outstanding and friendly and the wine list has a great deal of depth. Thank you so much for a wonderful evening.

    A fabulous experience from start to finish. It’s a stunning restaurant, the service was perfect, and the food was delicious. We had the duck a l’orange with an amazing burgundy wine.     The atmosphere was very cool and that was on a Monday night. My husband wasn’t v happy with the bill that came to $900! $500 spent on alcohol. Also the food was good but not the best meal we’ve ever eaten.
