Le Coq d'Or
The food was wonderful along with the presentation ...... Staff was amazing!
Food, service, and ambiance was fantastic! It was quite expensive for the small portion sizes though.
The food was terrific and the staff was very attentive. Will definitely go again.
We were the only people in the restaurant for most of our dinner. One other couple was there for a short time. The escargot was not as flavorful as we have had in the past. The desserts were outstanding, but the other food was fair and not at the level we expected. We felt our waiter was outstanding, very attentive and enjoyable to talk to.
A disappointing Idaho attempt at an elegant setting and an English tea. Towers of mediocre pastries, far more food than most humans could consume in an afternoon. Perhaps the management hopes that the huge quantity of food makes up for the bland taste and high price. The lavish bouquets of flowers on each table are fake, even the fancy doors through which one enters the room seem to be plastic. The only positive aspect was the very attentive and friendly service.
Really enjoyed afternoon tea with my mom. My only suggestion would be to allow for a second (or third) pot of tea versus more hot water. It’s too fancy pants of a tea to only be allowed to try one of the many offered teas.
An Awesome "tea" experience! The Chateau is always beautiful and the staff attentive.
The food presentation was wonderful and taste of the food fabulous!
The wait staff was excellent as well.
Overall, a wonderful experience! However, we were immediately seated just inside the door (where people congregate outside) which wasn’t ideal - and all the tables were open so it’s not like it was the only table left! We requested to move and were relocated. The other thing - there are too many desserts (and i LOVE dessert). More “lunch food” - sandwiches, etc. - would be nice and maybe just two or three desserts. Maybe even a menu to pick which three desserts (like the menu to pick tea) would be cool.
Great food and ambiance. A good place to celebrate a special occasion.
Our first visit and it was wonderful. From appetizer to main course everything was terrific.
FABULOUS! FABULOUS! FABULOUS! FABULOUS! FABULOUS! FABULOUS!
An exceptional experience!! Food, presentation, atmosphere and service were exquisite. My wife enjoyed the Kobe Braised Short Ribs, my sister had the Osso Bucco and I ordered the Poulet Perigord. All three menu items were superb, yet the short ribs took first place. We shared Crème Brulee and Bread Pudding – both were tasty, but the Crème Brulee won out. The wine list is adequate as we identified many worth the experience. We shall definitely dine again and look forward to the patio dining when it opens.
A perfect place for a 25th birthday, our server was so sweet and let us have a fun! We appreciated the amazing hospitality.
Birthday celebration for my daughter-in-law. The perfect setting for treating someone to a special experience.
Absolutely amazing!! It was an elegant setting the food was delicious.
Great service and the wine and food were fabulous!
Such a wonderful experience! It was my wife’s birthday and it could not have been better. The food was exceptional. Our waiter was very kind and very knowledgeable about the menu. Made some amazing recommendations with our diet selections. Loved the musician and his choice of music for the evening. Thank you for the great experience!!
Delicious food and beautifully decorated. Am anxious to try the patio.
Lovely leisurely gourmet meal with excellent European service.
Wonderful restaurant. The food was amazing, the best French food I have ever had. The service was excellent and the atmosphere was charming. I highly recommend this hidden gem of a restaurant.
It was a beautiful environment, and the staff was so much fun!
So fun. We loved it. Food was amazing The ambiance was excellent. Would highly recommend
Afternoon tea at the Chateau is so elegant, charming and tasty!
Very elegant with fantastic food and attentive service. Best discovery: cucumber and wasabi sorbet, plus the tastiest creme brulee ever! Price was surprisingly affordable.
Had a very pleasant dinner. I am in Boise on business and was eating alone. Was pleasantly surprised that they had live entertainment. The food was not exceptional, but okay.
Wonderful wait staff, beautiful setting!
We thoroughly enjoyed our experience. The food was excellent and so was the service. The price point for the quality is fantastic!
Excellent service and food!! Cauliflower soup was soooo good!
It was a great meal and wonderful evening.
Very good food, could have been a bit warmer though, nice ambiance, good music, will frequent often.
The fact that this restaurant is in Idaho is a blessing. You will be hard pressed to find a more professional and elegant fine dining experience in this state. The food was absolutely perfect. The staff was the epitome of knowledgable and friendly. The menu is modestly priced for the amazing quality of what you are getting here. Highly, highly recommended.
Afternoon tea was beautiful and such a treat! So fun for a special birthday celebration with friends.
It was wonderful to find a top notch quiet restaurant to enjoy with my husband in Boise! The service and food were superb, the wait staff professional and kind, and the surroundings exquisite. We will definitely go again!
We were there on a Wednesday evening to celebrate our anniversary 20 February 2019. Rather cold temps. outside. This facility is beautiful and just the kind of place for a very special occasion . This is not a complaint about the ambiance but being mid week and cold outside there were only 3 patrons in the restaurant that evening. We had reserved a table on Open Table thinking it would be necessary . Service was great and we were promptly seated at a window table. Wife started the evening with French Onion soup and stated it was very close to best she had ever had. She ordered Scallops with Cauliflower purée as her Entree .Food which was creatively plated. Scallops were cooked properly but the muscle had not been trimmed on each scallop and they were tough to chew and cauliflower purée was a light brown in color, while very tasting the color made it not very appetizing which she mentioned to our server.
My appetizer was Tempura Shrimp with an Aioli sweet sauce. Shrimp was cooked perfectly and I must say it was incredible. My entree was 5 oz Filet with Mash. Probably one of the best restaurant Filet’s I have ever experienced. Cooked exactly as I ordered it, well seasoned and after the Tempura Appetizer worked out to be the right portions.
Wife had Creme Brule and I had the Normandy Apple Torte for dessert. Both were excellent.
Overall the experience was fantastic . The evening was made even better when server brought our check and informed us that the Chef had made an adjustment to our check for the Scallops and the purée.
We will be back and we will bring Family & Friends.
Had heard really good things, perhaps we just attended on a bad night. I loved that there was live music, however the talent that night couldn’t carry a note or stay in tune. Service was very slow (for us) we often felt ignored. Appetizers (shrimp and oysters) were exceptional, French onion soup was outstanding. The radizzo salad was terriable, unetiable. Main courses were fine. Short ribs were fine, sauce was really good. Salmon was overdone but very flavorful. The desert was the star, very very good. The wine list is sufficient, but minimal beers and a lack of liquor make it seem like beverage service was/is an afterthought. For the price point there is better food/service/ atmosphere to be found, which is a shame because this could really be a star in the valley.
Service was great. The food was sub-par (had to send the filet back, and still it came back undercooked). The salmon was overdone, the yam puree was more like babyfood (consistency etc).
We have dined here before and it certainly was better in the past. Being Valentine’s Day crested sone service issues since it was so busy. But, the food was not what I would expect. Need better attention to the French staples and the menu is starting to look more like a northwest steakhouse. Stick to the French classics. Also service was attentive but the kitchen was very slow and mis timed courses.
We attended the Valentine’s Day ball & it blew us away! We had a couple of friends join us for this special occasion and they loved it! From the live music playing in the background to the seating & the food was hands down some of the best dishes I’ve had! Our waiters were great very friendly & helpful made the evening very special we will definitely return!
My husband and I made reservations for a combined Valentines/Anniversary dinner. Our waiter greeted us promptly and we received wine immediately. 30 minutes later bread was served. We informed him of our evening celebrations and he offered a desert on the house (creme brûlée or bread pudding which I told him I disliked, he then said since we were not ordering from the prefix menu we could choose something else).
The artichoke dip was amazing. Our dinner was presented to us next. We informed Robert (our waiter) that we had not received the onion soup we ordered. While our steaks were on the table he brought our soup. The food was excellent, however, wish it was served in an appropriate order. We were both quite full when Robert asked if we wanted desert. I asked if we could take it home to continue our festivities he said only the creme brûlée. At that point we were so frustrated with the service we simply paid and left.
We were never asked if we wanted a second glass of wine. Apparently one and done at this restaurant. Service was definitely substandard for the price we paid. Too bad, service makes or breaks a special occasion and I was certainly let down.
