Le Colonial NYC is a truly delightful culinary experience. Le Colonial NYC Ratings and Reviews
I felt a little bad when I left a cash gratuity and a person who I never saw before came to take my bill away in a hurry - and then returned much mater to get my signature -
I felt our waiter should have handled this and the bill should have been examined without rushing it away
The person who took the bill away in a hurry never even attempted to make eye contact
I’ve been here many times. Things have slipped a little. If it wasn’t so good in previous vsisits, I wouldn’t have noticed but there were a few issues. I liked the addition of a poopoo platter of 6 apps. They were excellent. My drink took excessively long to get, went to the wrong table and finally reached me. Plus, the duck, which is usually amazing didn’t have the usual crispy skin was a bit too fatty and was a little underdone. The Vietnamese coffee however is still sensational and sinfully delicious.
Interesting and comfortable ambience for a relaxed business lunch. Unfortunately, food was hit & miss. Fried spring rolls had a strong taste of rancid or overused cooking oil - something that cannot be excused. Mushroom banh cuon was good. Lemongrass chicken was bland and syrupy with only a touch of heat, landing somewhere between Chinese takeout kung pao and General Tso's (albeit with no soggy breading), far from the tangy, fishy, delicately sweet and smoky melange one anticipates.
Based on my single experience, I don't doubt there are a few other well executed dishes on the menu - or perhaps the dinner kitchen has more game than the lunch crew - but I don't think I'll be going back to explore.
Akways loved coming here, but the food was not up to snuff this year. The spring rolls which we all used to adore tasted like mystery meat that had been sitting around for quite some time. We had the special which was turbot and very good but $48 and turbot is NOT an expensive fish. Really taking advantage. Martini was skimpy. Disappointed.
I'm always delighted by the food choices, presentation and attentive service. Anything on the menu that sounds good is good. But ask for what spices are included, just in case you object to any. My friend and I shared a crispy fish. It was moist and crispy at the same time. We started with a few appetizers. All in all it was perfect. As we looked around we recognized that the decor is timeless, comfortable and elegant.
The food quality at Le Colonial is always top notch, with an extensive and interesting menu. Excellent venue for business lunches, the ambiance is friendly and conducive and easy to chat / listen. Service is always attentive without being overbearing.
I always look forward to and enjoy my lunch appointments at Le Colonial and highly recommend it!
We started going to Le Colonial when our two sons were young and have continued to go for years. Our one son liked it so much, he chose it as the venue to propose to his now wife. The staff is courteous and efficient, quietly keeping and eye on the table. The food is excellent and we have never had anything we did not think was exceptional. Prices are in line with finer Midtown restaurants.
Fantastic overall experience, both food and service were outstanding.
if you want a really quiet and romantic setting ask to be seated upstairs.
Fantastic French Vietnamese food without having to break the bank. You cannot go wrong at this restaurant for any occasion. one of my favorites in all of NY>
Cold winter nights and warm delicious pho does good to your body and soul.
We were immediately greeted by the staff and taken to our table where the server recommended their signature dishes and yes, we were not disappointed!
Beautiful decor, warm and friendly staff and delicious food with a modern touch of French Vietnamese made our experience here very special.
Service was attentive without being intrusive. The General Manager too stopped by to ask about our experience and we felt like we were truly taken care of.
Look forward to dining here again.
