About
It was their final night of business. They closed forever. It was sad. They were low on food had only a few menu items. Wish I had known before reserving the table. It was always one of my favorite restaurants. Sad to see it go
Birthday, ambience was a but too quiet for what I was looking for but the food blew me away. Amazing setup
Chic and beautiful , best French Vietnamese in the city.
La comida no fue mala pero nada para repetir. El lugar muy vacío y el ambiente muy de restaurante convencional.
We were very happy with the service and attentive staff.
Very disappointed. The air conditioner was blasting although it was 25 degrees outside. We asked twice to adjust the temperature. Nothing was done. The Viennese Coffee was cold and terrible. Not my usual experience at this long lived establishment
Boring and very touristy
This once shining star is now dim. Poor service, long wait for mediocre food, including fatty duck and no sign of management.
I went solo as my husband was at a business meeting downtown.
Can’t wait bring him back for a date night!
Food is consistently good here. Service is lacking .
Excellent location for a business lunch, lots of space between tables and quiet to have a meaningful discussion.
I have been dining at this restaurant for quite some years. This past time, my husband and I were totally disappointed. The service was lousy and the server made too many mistakes - eg. bring us wine that was not ordered instead of champagne which we did request, we had to ask for everything, like a fresh cup with the tea, a knife for the fish, etc. Even the hostess who sat us was argumentative and when I asked to attribute the mistake to a misunderstanding - she just kept on trying to prove that she was correct. The menu was not at all what we expected and had few vegetarian choices and the fish(the red snapper was tasteless and dry)
All in all, very poor and we will think twice before reserving again.

The service was impeccable, the food was delicious (as always), and the ambiance delightful. A favorite pllace for birthdays and other celebrations.
There is a reason it has been in business over 25 years. A real neighborhood gem 😉
De visita en NYC quise explorar este lugar que tiene buenas recomendaciones. Está muy bonito, es discretamente elegante y la comida deliciosa
The one in CHICAGO is unbelievable this one felt like a JV version
We've been bringing out of town friends here for the past 10 years, and never been disappointed. The food is excellent, and they even have Chambord for dessert (if you ask for it).
This such a pretty restaurant. Le Colonial was recommended to us as a place to dine while staying at the Lombardy Hotel. It is located literally around the corner. The service was flawless. The food was exquisite. We enjoyed the fried rice, the garlic noodles, and the sea bass in banana leaf. As well, the sampler appetizer course was generous and a delightful way to sample many of the menu items. Although quite full and satiated, we shared the green tea crepe. Again, the perfect ending to our experience - a many-layered cake, not too sweet, and presented beautifully. We enjoyed everything!
I have been coming here since the 80's and still love it! The food and service are as good as ever and it is a New York fixture.
I had the prix fix lunch and thoroughly enjoyed it. I chose the caramelized chicken as my main course and highly recommend it.
The staff were helpful and efficient.
We enjoyed very good food and excellent service at Le Colonial. The restaurant is elegant and quiet giving it an old-world, upscale feel. The service was exceptionally good and attentive without being intrusive, servers remembering that one of our party wanted his espresso with his dessert and the other after dessert and bringing them accordingly. We were impressed that they asked when to bring them, and then didn't forget. The food was tasty and well prepared. The restaurant prices are appropriate for the quality of the food and the experience.
Beautiful restaurant with excellent service. Our party tried many of the dishes and we all loved each one. Servers are attentive without hovering. We also LOVED that we weren’t sitting right on top of our fellow diners as we had at every other restaurant we’d been to during our week in the city. Would highly recommend this unique restaurant
Very attentive service, great food suggestions, go on work expense account because budget $100 each
We went to Le Colonial for lunch. Two of my lunch companions chose the $26 2 course pre-fixe while I had 2 small plates. The pre-fixe selections were decent and entrees nicely flavored. We oredered the shrimp salad roll and lotus root salad for appetizers which were excellent. One of my companions had the garlic noodles, the other the chicken while I had the turmeric monkfish.
We love this restaurant! My husband found it to host my surprise party last year and since then it’s our favorite place for a guaranteed delicious meal with excellent service and perfect ambiance!
The food used to be very good but now extremely disappointing.
Very uninteresting. Will not go back
Lovely surroundings and great food--highly recommended
Beautiful location, delicious food. Would recommend if you like Asian in particular Vietnamese food. Excellent service.
I love this restaurant but the waiters were overzealous and intrusive- badgering us to order second glasses of wine before we’d finished our first, trying to remove plates when we were still eating. It was quite extreme and very disruptive to the meal.
Food Great - Service Great - what more can you ask for ! Go you will not be disappointed.
Always had great experiences at The Colonial NYC. Food is absolutely according with our expectations. Service was very nice.
I was disappointed in the food as main courses. It was bland and nothing outstanding. I continue to recommend it for cocktails and appetizers. the Service is very good and the staff is very attentive. the atmosphere is right on.
Far from beeing an unforgtable Vietnamese meal experience. Overpriced for the quality/work done in the plates that are served.
Perfect!!
Perfect!!
I had the Prix Fixe with pho and salmon, and it was one of the best meals I've ever had. The decor was also interesting, plenty of plants and pictures on the wall to set a french-colonial-vietnmese mood. Highly recommend
Great venue food and service
I have been to this restaurant many, many times and it never disappoints! A NYC treasure...
Wonderful food and great service.
birthday dinner
Really love le Colonial - a place like no other - the food was delicious and the service attentive - great place for a business lunch
