Le Colonial is a celebration of the seductive spirit and vivid flavors of 1920’s French Colonial Southeast Asia, located in the heart of one of America’s largest and most diverse cities.
View Private Dining DetailsFirst time at Le Colonial and it was worth the hype. It was a very innovative menu with creative drinks in a beautiful setting. the service was a little slow at first but things eventually picked up once we started ordering.
We went with 5-6 small plates which were surprisingly decent in size and a nice way to try a variety of their signature dishes. The chicken dumplings were amazing and the pork short ribs fell off the bone. The tuna tar tar was very fresh and tasty and it had a generous portion of caviar spread on top.
Overall the food and drinks were excellent and the restaurant is beautiful. We enjoyed our dinner and drinks and will certainly be back soon.
My waiter was great! I rated the service at a 4 because I come to this restaurant all the time and I feel like they are not accommodating and they don’t care. I changed on open table that I wanted to sit outside and they did not see it. So we had to sit outside because they
It was very nice.
The food is always delicious, presentation beautiful!
Great atmosphere
Fabulous dishes - authentic Vietnamese meals
A bit delayed seating due to guests leaving slowly, food was excellent. Noise a bit high
We have been here several times and it never disappoints. Friends that have moved away from Houston specifically requested we dine here because they miss the restaurant. Each time we go to the restaurant, we try different menu items and none have been disappointing.
It’s perfect for a party or just a drink!
It was a beautiful day to celebrate a friend’s birthday. We sat at a table by the opened patio doors and enjoyed the fresh air, beautiful flowers and sunshine. We had the fabulous ambience while enjoying a delicious lunch. The food was cooked and seasoned perfectly. It was a wonderful afternoon.
Excellent menu and fabulous food prepared and presented very well. We have always enjoyed our dinners at Le Colonial which provides a nostalgic reminder of our time living in the far east. Only slight negative comment was the fact that one of the desert wines listed on the menu was not available.
Wonderful lunch. Really enjoy the many flavors in the food at Le Colonial. While there have been negative comments about the service and staff, we have never experienced anything less than commendable service.
Great spot. Very good food.
Now, if they know how many guests they have each night, why don’t they hire the proper amount of labor? Don’t save on service, you’ll damage the restaurant.
Superb highly recommended.. I love Le colonial .. outstanding service.. vibrant .. delicious food
The food was very good but I wish my meal had been hot. I ordered the salmon and it was just lightly warm. The entree says it has shiitake mushrooms but my plate only had 2.
Fresh, tasty, authentic food!
When my boss asked where I wanted to go for my 'send off' lunch, I could only think of Le Colonial. Didn't even think about the 'family style' portions. Needless to say, I was later relieved that they offered a prix fixe menu. Lunch was great!
I actually returned later for happy hour to kick back on the upstairs patio. Going to miss Le Colonial in my backyard!
You advertised a DJ starting at 9 pm, which is why we went and invited two friends to join us. There was no DJ, only piped music which repeated at least one song during the 3 hours we were there. We were told the DJ didn’t show up. Disappointing. You should have a back-up DJ if you are going to advertise this as an incentive to visit your restaurant.
Exelente comida !! las entradas son grandes para que tengan encuenta eso cuando pidan.
Seating was close together, service was prompt. Noise was very high, maybe because of some parties that where going on. Food was okay.
Great food. Consistent with NYC, Philadelphia and SF
Lovely birthday dinner for my husband and we were also celebrating our anniversary! They gave us a beautiful bday dessert to go -- we gave our leftovers to a homeless man and forget the cake was in there, but we hoped he enjoyed it and maybe it was even his bday, too! haha! We'll be back!
Loved it. The food was great. Service was wonderful. We’ll be back.
We went to Le Colonial for Easter Brunch. The service and food were excellent. The restaurant was very pleasant and we had a great brunch.
Lovely day for brunch at this fabulous location.
Delicious and celebrating Easter at Le Colonial was great!
Birthday dinner
The food was delicious and I can not wait to go back.
I’ve taken many clients to this restaurant and never been disappointed.
They were out of the whole duck which was a disappointment.
But I opted for the whole fish which was very good.
The waiter kept forgetting items never brought out 2 side dishes and my friends drink. That’s a first as I ate twice this week and once last week. Giving them the benefit of the doubt but as a frequent patron they should know.
The food was well prepared with a strong Vietnamese and French influence. We had the Vietnamese G&T and it was too sweet. I would not recommend it. The spicy shrimp, shaking beef and brussels sprouts were all hits and great to share. The waiters were ok, but service could be much better with training and more attentive service. We sat downstairs on a Tuesday evening and we could barely hear one another. They need to space the tables better, but are clearly trying to increase revenue. I would recommend requesting a table upstairs.
Excellent service. We had a miscommunication that was handled by the manager very professionally. Would highly recommend the restaurant and we will be back.
Great food! First time. Firecracker beef, spicy shrimp and sizzling beef were fantastic! Great service!
One of my favorite Houston eateries!
I enjoy this restaurant EVERY visit! One of my favorite places to eat in Houston!
Great lighting, no overhead weird soft spotlight that seems to be over MY head everywhere I go ... like a government drone.... anyway, good lighting, pretty restaurant, good greeting from hostess and manager , nice ambiance, the food is good, we had a number of things , mushroom ravioli, why they are called ravioli is a mystery, but they are very good, the Pho, garlic noodles, carpaccio, and a VERY strong Kings martini, that cocktail was a sweet little thing with coconut cinnamon, pretty, cute...., sneaky , booze, laced with booze. Sent back the fried spring rolls, they were not freshly fried, that didn't go over well... I thought the waitress was going to slap me, ( and that might have been fun on a Kings Turbo Booze Martini ) The fireworks on the opera cake are GREAT! The opera cake is Alice in Wonderland tiny, who cares, the fireworks are FUN!
Fantastic experience. Our server Ryan and all staff were excellent. Beautiful setting and food to match. Will be back soon!
Good vegetarian options on menu; vegan options also exist. We had very good service and the food here is consistently good. I've dined at this place since the 1990's in Chicago and have loved it since then.
Very nice ambiance and tasty food.
Be sure to ask for a table downstairs. The upstairs leaves much to be desired. Also, ask for an explanation of the desserts before you try them.
Always have wonderful evening. Excellent meal and service here
