Le Colonial - Houston
A lavish downstairs dining room is adorned with period photography, overhead fans and leather banquettes, and flanked by a Parisian-Style sidewalk café. A dramatic staircase leads to a second level lounge, where a large bar, mahogany millwork and plush seating create the perfect atmosphere for cocktails and light fare. Custom louvered shutters surround the west veranda, while an additional terrace on the north side is fully enclosed and features additional dining tables. The Lotus Room, anchored by a mural created by Swedish muralist Jonas Wickman rendered in gentle tropical tones, seats up to 14 for private dinners and wine tastings.
Dress code is business casual.

The staff has always been friendly. A wonderful new place to try.
Great food and super fast service
Amazing experience. Food was super delicious. Our waitress was on top of her game.
Dinner at Le Colonial was excellent. The small plates were perfect for our modest appetites. The flavors were exceptional. The service was prompt and professional and the ambiance was good. The only negative was the noise level was sufficiently high to make conversation somewhat difficult (there were several groups celebrating birthdays in a joyous manner)
My husband and a friend and I dined in the bar recently and had a great experience. We basically ordered the left side of the menu—several small plates—plus the papaya salad, fried rice and chicken and vegetable stir fry. All were delicious. Not a single thing I would hesitate to order again. The drinks were great, the service attentive. We dined upstairs in the bar after a mix-up with our downstairs reservation. But it turned out to be fun. The bar is beautiful and lively. And David, the bar/lounge manager, took great care of us. I can’t wait to go back.
Great Food and Great Service!
Gets better and better
Good wine list
Food is fresh and very well prepared
Service was terrible. After I was seated I had to ask for water and for a waiter twice so I could order a drink. The coravin wine bottle opener didn’t work correctly. My order came out wrong the first time.
Great will go again
WE have been going to Le Colonial for about a year and they always impress. The food, service, ambiance, everything is stellar. I would highly recommend it.
Food was excellent. Service was very slow and inattentive.
Great food, good service. A fun experience
Very nice restaurant, delicious and interesting (in a good way) food. Service was at times a bit slow and price tag is a bit high but overall certainly will be back.
One of our favorite places
The food is so good and the service is always great!!!!
Food is always fresh and wonderful! Staff is knowledgeable and engaging. Great place for dining with friends! A favorite!
All aspects of this place are just excellent. One of my favorite restaurants in Houston.
I great place for a wonderful date night if you want to have a pleasant evening with the miss in your life. She will totally adore this place. My Girlfriend loved the atmosphere as well as the food. And me personally its all about the food
Consistently one of our favorites! This birthday celebration for our daughter did not disappoint. I thought we ordered too much food but we ate every bite because it was all so good.
Small plates are worth it and much better than large plates (value + taste)
This has become our favorite restaurant in Houston. The food is consistently outstanding. The service is always very good and although it is a good drive for us, it is always well worth it. We will go back again soon.
Great food, it was all very delicious. We got a server to take our order/notice our table 40 min after we were seated.
I took 6 people for New Year's Eve including guests from Europe. We arrived on time at 8, waited 10 minutes, and was escorted through a beautifully decorated room with festive gold balloons to an outside patio covered with a tent. We met our waiter for the first time 45 minutes later, and he told us how stressed and busy he was. We were able to snag down a waitress from a different table earlier, who at least placed our drinks order. There was a price fixed menu, but also some well negotiated drink/food specials from Moet and Chandon, which I wanted but was told that I would have to order BOTH the price fixed menu PLUS the 2 pound lobster from the specials menu for New Years. This was the FIRST need to consult with the manager. Time went by, and the service was awful -- water and drinks did not flow, waits were long. Food eventually arrived and was generally good. Albeit represented as mild main course had hot peppers concealed that could not be discerned under the poor lighting in the tent, so 2 of my guests gasped for air for about 10 minutes -- of course, no water was in sight to alleviate their discomfort. We marched on through to the dessert course, when 3 out of the 5 desserts ordered arrived. After finding the waiter 10 minutes later and pointing this out, another argument ensued -- at that point I called the manager over one last time, asked that the waiter not return, and to pay my bill so we can have an expeditious exit if/when the final desserts were brought. Sure, it's understandable that New Years is always busy, but even lower expectations were not met. In the end, most of the food was OK (my lobster was delicious), and the guests recovered from their pepper-mouth. The waiter will inevitably be talked to. But the inadequate and untrained staff for New Years, the bad anti-room, the bad lighting and heating, the hidden peppers in mild dishes, and the mis-timed meal with continuous explanations can't all be put to the waiter.
New Year’s Eve dinner.
When a restaurant force-charges 20% gratuity for a party of 2, it gives a bad taste in your mouth even though you would give even more gratuity anyway..... It is a festive time and everyone is festive and generous. No need to arm twist. Poor judgment!
Great! New Years Eve was wonderful- food, atmosphere, service. Everything!
Loved the food and services
Delicious food and excellent service
The whole experience was great, the food excellent!,,
Excellent food. Perfectly prepared. Will definitely return.
The food was DELICIOUS! Everything we ate was wonderful, from the pan seared chicken dumplings, tuna tartare, to the green shrimp curry and spicy chicken stir fry! The sides were delightful as well- definitely recommend the brussel sprouts for a sweet bite in a sea of spicy! Loved every minute of this dinner!
good value and wine list. Great take on Asian fusion
We were 6 people crammed into a table for 4 and the table next to us had three kids who were watching videos rather loudly. Very annoying.
My favorite restaurant in Houston. The flavor of every dish is amazing and the location is perfect.
The Red Snapper is fantastic! Great food overall. We will definitely be back.
We enjoyed our 1st visit to Le Colonial & will come again!
We had a very nice dining experience. The staff was friendly and made us feel very welcomed.
Amazing! Le colonial never disappoints!
Great environment! Fun crowd, good noise level, and excellent food! We will be back
