Le Colonial - Houston
A lavish downstairs dining room is adorned with period photography, overhead fans and leather banquettes, and flanked by a Parisian-Style sidewalk café. A dramatic staircase leads to a second level lounge, where a large bar, mahogany millwork and plush seating create the perfect atmosphere for cocktails and light fare. Custom louvered shutters surround the west veranda, while an additional terrace on the north side is fully enclosed and features additional dining tables. The Lotus Room, anchored by a mural created by Swedish muralist Jonas Wickman rendered in gentle tropical tones, seats up to 14 for private dinners and wine tastings.
Dress code is business casual.

Food and cocktails were great as usual. Service was a little slow.
We really enjoyed this restaurant, trendy chic with good food and good service. I don’t like when tables are so close together you feel like you’re eating with strangers, but this one wasn’t too bad in that regard. Quiet enough to talk which was nice.
Great vietnamese restaurant
Service was a little slow, and it appears that the birthday note from open table didn’t make it to my server. Food was great.
We had potstickers, ribs, noodles and vegetables and feel there are many better restaurants. We were surprised at the good reviews and were disappointed. Even the iced tea was disappointing.
Excellent food, as always! We had a kind and pleasant waitress, too. (Drinks are overpriced, especially beer.)
This was our first visit and we will certainly be back.
Are on the patio so no noise
Lovely ambiance, wonderful food and attentive service!
I enjoyed the choices for wines BY THE GLASS.
Great food and excellent service. Steven was great. Order the Brussel sprouts
Made reservations to celebrate our boss’ birthday during lunch and the staff really made it special. The food was brought out in a timely manner and the assortment was great. We practically shared all of the appetizers and entrees family style. The ambiance was welcoming and enjoyable. Majority of our party had never been to Le Colonial and will be returning soon enough. Let’s just say that we impressed our boss- added plus!!
Love the food and the ambiance 🙂
Dessert was disappointing (key lime tart) but mains were good. Service was slow, but this was rush hour.
Our favorite thing to do is go to the IPIC Theater and then to Le Colonial for dinner. The Asian Fusion flavors never disappoint and we always have our favorites like the chicken dumplings and shrimp and chicken spring rolls. They also have great curries and some excellent beef dishes.
Noise lever inside was very loud. We changed our table to the balcony wich was very nice
It was very very noisy.
It took us forever to get our food.
We did not see our waiter almost at all.
I got my food and started eating the salmon.
I took a couple of bites and returned it because it was cold.
One of the managers brought it back saying they remade another one.
IT WAS THE SAME ONE WITH THE TWO BITES TAKEN FROM THE SIDE.
They just added some warm sauce on it.
No one came back to check if it was ok.
We love the restaurant but it was very disappointing.

nice ambiance. reasonably priced dishes. great place for Vietnamese food.
Always one of our favorites, consistently good food and pleasant staff.
Great ambiance of a Vietnamese French colonial restaurant With a atmosphere. Food is excellent and price is reasonable for this quality of restaurant.
The food was ok, nothing amazing. The fried rice we're a bit mushy, the Brussels sprouts were sweet, the bo luck lac was sweet too and the spring rolls were basic. But ambiance was nice and service was nice too.
Different and always great both good and service
Service was very slow
Food and service was excellent. My servers were very attentive. Only complaint was the noise level from so many tables. If there was music I could not hear it. Overall very good experience.
Our main issue was all the dishes were way too sweet… Many people don’t like the sweet trend and they prefer savory dishes… This restaurant needs to consider to offer more savory as most people don’t want to eat sugar for dinner. The quality otherwise was great but everything was so sweet I just felt over sugared for 2 to 3 days afterwards.
Excellent lunch followed by delicious Vietnamese coffee
Food and service are top notch. Disappointed they no longer serve brown rice.
The food and ambience is always fantastic and the wait staff doesn’t rush you. One of my favorite spots!
A bit too loud otherwise the dinner and wine were great.
The Food at le Colonial was excellent. Very tasty, well prepared and presented. We were sitting outside on the patio which is much calmer than inside. The only complaint from Our visit is the price of a top shelf Margherita. Without being noticed by the server a small glass for $44 was quite in excess of what was expected.
Service was not the best. Very arrogant and not at all friendly
The air vents blowing freezing cold air also was not comfortable at all
Service not the best (not at the same level as Chicago). Appreciated the Zinfandel education from the GM/Sommelier. Excellent Red Snapper!
Really enjoyed this! The service was outstanding the food surpassed our expectations. Both cocktails we ordered were excellent. We will be back!
Even though busy service was prompt and not rushed - certainly appreciate both
Way way too loud downstairs for dinner conversation. We four struggled to hear each other. Otherwise, service and dinner was very nice. We will be sure to request the upstairs lounge dining area next time.
Food delicious and menus explained clearly.
Maybe the salmon had to be caught because we think that's what delayed the food.
I used to enjoy the place and this time was a terrible experience, didn't even wish us happy anniversary. Also didn't pay attention to us like you would expect, the other server when asking for hot sauce was very upset. The food got us both sick the next day as it seemed like it was old and just left overs warmed up for us.
Good Morning, Id like to learn more about your experience and what you ate on your most recent visit. We take illness from food very very seriously and need to gather more information. If you would be so kind to reach out to me at martin@lecolonialhouston. that would be terrific. I look forward to hearing back from you. Regards, Martin
The Restaurant Weeks menu is a very good value and has a good selection. There were four choices for each of the three courses and all were very appealing choices. Our group of four really enjoyed their selections (crispy egg rolls, soft egg rolls, rice crepes, shaking beef, braised beef, salmon, crepe brûlée, an$ opera cake). We enjoyed our meal choices so much that we went back two days later to try the other choices on the Restaurant Weeks menu. The second time we went happened to be a Monday night when the have 50% of their wines under $100. That was a wonderful deal so we were able to enjoy a very nice bottle of wine for less than its normal price at a liquor store and without the usual restaurant mark-up. The service was was attentive without being fussy. We highly recommend Le Colonial and are looking forward to dining there again, hopefully during the cooler months as the patio seating is very inviting.
