Le Colonial - Houston
A lavish downstairs dining room is adorned with period photography, overhead fans and leather banquettes, and flanked by a Parisian-Style sidewalk café. A dramatic staircase leads to a second level lounge, where a large bar, mahogany millwork and plush seating create the perfect atmosphere for cocktails and light fare. Custom louvered shutters surround the west veranda, while an additional terrace on the north side is fully enclosed and features additional dining tables. The Lotus Room, anchored by a mural created by Swedish muralist Jonas Wickman rendered in gentle tropical tones, seats up to 14 for private dinners and wine tastings.
Dress code is business casual.
Gratuity will be added to parties of 6 or more. We only allow a maximum of 4 for splitting checks.

Excellent food and service. The quality of ingredients were over the top. Highly recommend
There was a drunk lady on the elevator blocking and pushing people
Perfect evening. Again.
Fantastic wait staff! My water never even reached half empty. The waiters know the menu so well to offer suggestions and recommendations. The atmosphere is incredibly upscale yet relaxing. 11/10 would recommend
Totally enjoyed the meal...the valet service ruined the evening. They made us wait 15 minutes for our car while we waited in the cold and rain. They charged $9 for parking and shorted us $10 in change. The shame, this is a direct reflection on the overall service of the restaurant. When you pay $200 for a nice dinner for two you don’t expect the valet to ruin it. The restaurant was made aware and did nothing but distance themselves from the valet and said they would try to get back our overcharge.
I called for the director of services of the restaurant and his voicemail message dropped your call. It went to dead silence.
Very disappointed in the restaurants response.
Hello Thank you so much for your feedback. Im sorry if the line dropped when you tried calling me but feel free to call and press extension 1 and the hostess can get a hold of me. I have communicated your experience with the River Oaks District Valet and will be having them reach out to you directly but we will need your contact information. You can call me at 713.629.4444 ext 1 and ask for Martin. We are very responsive but unfortunately cannot control phones being dropped. Regards, Martin
Birthday. Great food but a bit noisy
Always enjoy ...however a little loud for us to have a business discussion. And we were one of the first to be seated at 12 noon but one of the last served.
I enjoyed the lunch at the restaurant.
It was very comfort feeling for me as if I am in Vietnam.
As Asian person, I highly recommend to go this restaurant and hope to visit again in the future
Consistently a nice place for a great meal. This is one of our favorite restaurants when we want a break
Le Colonial is my favorite Houston restaurant.
The food, the service, and the ambiance are all wonderful.
Food and specialty cocktails were underwhelming. Service was only okay, the waiter was very blah and didn’t smile until it was time to checkout. This is a restaurant I will not return to.
Le Colonial is definitely a hot spot in River Oaks. My husband and I greatly enjoyed the food and found the upstairs night club pretty amusing!
The small plates were excellent - some of the best dumplings I’ve had, but we both thought the entrees left something to be desired. The wine selection was pretty good too, we got a great, reasonably priced bottle of Bordeaux which hit the spot. We’ll definitely be back for an after work snack.
Only complaint was that the tables were really packed in, beyond just cozy. We got seated on the end next to a service stand and it really took away from the experience. The staff asked me a few times to scoot in in order to serve other tables. Not what you’d expect for such a pricey meal. So, you may make a special note when booking, as there are a lot of good tables.
The signature Le Colonial red snapper is simply wonderful (and gluten free)!
Wow! Where do I begin?! This place has a style of its own.
Le Colonial has an amazing food selection. I had the lamb chops with an amazing coriander sauce. The chips were cooked to perfection and I paired it with a couple of the delicious cocktails they offer. I highly recommend giving this place a try.
Service and food were excellent, a great Valentine’s Day for me and my wife.
Don’t overcharge me just because it’s Valentine’s Day you crooks. They had a set menu, and they only let you pick a two course meal plus a basic dessert for $85. The two dishes i ate normally are $45 COMBINED on the regular menu, but they wanna charge me $85 for it. Set menu’s suck. Never coming back here again but not because of the stupid set menu, but because they are trying to act like United airlines overcharging for peak times. People, the food doesn’t cost you any more or any less wholesale because its Vday. Why do you feel the need to rip your customers off. Poor ownership if you ask me. Nobody likes Greedy businesses. Oh and the valet stole a stick of gum from my cup holder. How do i know?? Because i counted 4 pieces right before i got out of the car, and the second i got back in there was only 3 left. Yes i was testing them and they failed
One of my favorite restaurant in Houston, always a great experience.
The food and service is always very good and consistent.
It was a busy night for the restaurant and I called and needed to add an extra person and they made it happen.
Our food was exceptional, service was exceptional, most of all, we were not at all rushed. Our waiter helped us make excellent choices and everyone enjoyed the evening!
Enjoyable evening. Two tops are very close to each other.
All four tables complained about the closeness.
Great food, wonderful service, beautiful restaurant!
One of our favorite places. Very pretty restaurant and great, well trained and seemingly experienced servers. Food is very fresh and bursting with flavor. Trevor is an awesome GM and remembers peoples ‘ names and “likes”.
Birthday lunch with a friend. We both had the prix fixe lunch menu. Excellent as always. The server brought her a complementary crème brûlée - nice touch
Too loud to hear across the table.
Nice ambient setting. Food is a little overprice for serving size. Not many options for Vietnamese food compared to other places.
We loved it! A nice romantic spot with a charming atmosphere
One of my favorite Houston restaurants.
Fabulous food and drinks. Superb service too. Noise level is always way too high.
Excellent food and experience all around
Our favorite place to dine in Houston - always delicious - always a party!
Great food as always and our server, Long, was fantastic!
Enjoyed a fabulous birthday dinner with friends. The dishes were excellent in both taste and presentation. I tried Five Spice Frites for the first time. I have never had better Frites anywhere in the entire world.
Le Colonial is my favorite Houston restaurant.
The restaurant is beautiful and the ambiance is festive, vibrant, and posh.
The food is divine. The value is unsurpassed. The wine list both by the glass and by the bottle offers excellent choices.
I LOVE Le Colonial.
One of our favorite places - easy to park, beautiful decor, fresh ingredients, and quality preparation. Plan to go back sometime soon, but not on a Friday evening. With hard surfaces (floors, walls) and (very) tight table seating make for a louder experience than you would expect. Under slightly warmer conditions I would eat outside.
This is a family that is a former client of ours that we’ve grown very close to! Glad we got a chance to catch up with them and hopefully work on another project with them!
Food amazing, surroundings beautiful and sexy, nice people. Not rushed, we appreciate that, but poor waiter stretched a bit with the number of tables, it seemed. Overall, one of our favorites !!
I had a very disappointing experience. I made reservations 4 weeks in advance for dinner during their annual Lunar New Year celebration. I also specified in the OpenTable app that it was for my birthday. I arrived 20 min early for our reservation and was told that our party of 6 had to be seated in the super cramped overflow area that is upstairs. We have dined at Le Colonial during the Lunar New Year for the past 3 years prior, and it had become a family tradition. The lion dancers only come through the main dining room downstairs. I told the hostess that I had made my reservations far in advance, specified it was my birthday and arrived early and that I wanted to be seated downstairs so we could see the festivities. They told me there were no tables downstairs that could accommodate my party. Needless to say we left and ate dinner elsewhere. It was very upsetting that my birthday plans were ruined and that the staff didn’t seem to care at all.
Good Morning, Thank you for your feedback. We tried our best to accommodate your request being that you did not request to be seating downstairs. The reservations that we sat at the very few larger tables that we have specifically requested the downstairs so of course we had to honor that. I am sorry that your birthday was ruined but please reach out to me directly so that we can make sure you next visit is fantastic. I have added that you prefer the downstairs into your profile. Martin
Celebrated lunar new year! Parade and performers created magic
Amazing place, will be coming back soon...
Great option for groups in Houston, lively bar scene upstairs as well...
