The food was fabulous, service was good, and overall the dining experience was very memorable. The curry was outstanding. Would recommend!
I think is an amazing place. Especially liked the bar. We made a table reservation and ended up having the dinner at the bar.
Perfect Lunch Spot especially on a cold, sunny, Winter afternoon! Beautiful space- sunny windows in the front & cozy, dark in the bar area.
They set us up in a cozy corner both that was perfect for our special date. I was so happy.
It was my friend's birthday and we had to pay for the dessert that was brought out. Felt a bit weird for such a high end restaurant. The food was great, as always.
Outstanding! Great service, great food, great atmosphere!
Excellent. They were very flexible and gracious with our constantly changing reservation time. Service and food were very good. My only complaints, very minor:
(1) I felt a bit crowded with a neighboring table, making it difficult to get in and out of my chair.
(2) Noise level was over the top.
Enjoyed the meal and service very much.
I eat here on a regular basis- at least 2-3x per month because we love the food and there ambiance. My main gripe is that the staff is consistently unfriendly and apathetic. Sometimes we have to bring our son to dinner with us and while they are not directly rude, there is always a sense of feeling unwelcome in the air and we are always shoved into a back corner. Most recently, I went there with 2 girlfriends to celebrate our birthdays and even though it was only 6:15 and hardly any of the tables were seated they tried to seat us at the WORST tables in the house (first at the first table by the elevator and then behind the door in the main dining room). We asked to be moved 3 times. The hostess with purple hair made a loud sigh (so rude!) so we finally just took the table (even though it was still in an undesirable location) and sat down. I don’t understand why when we say we are there to celebrate an occasion and we emphasize that table location is important (it was even specified in the reservation on open table) she would then show us 2 more tables in horrible locations. It would be nice if le colonial would treat their regular customers (who also supported them BEFORE they moved locations) with a little bit of extra enthusiasm and respect. We have started carrying out from there a lot more lately so we don’t have to deal with their rude staff.
The greatest thing about dining in Le Colonial is that everything on the menu is recommended -- yes, every single cuisine that Le Colonial has to offer is worth a try.
Awesome food and service!
Amazing, as always!!!!
Our waiters name was Pepe, and he was absolutely fantastic, if you have him, listen to his reccomendations. we’ve been here many times but because of him now have 3 new favorites after tonight!! we had the entree spicy steak because he recommended it and it was absolutely amazing. Le Colonial will forever be my go to favorite restaurant when we are in chicago!!
Service was great! Waiter was attentive. Accommodating to food allergies. Fun atmosphere with window view.
Most dishes are very good. A couple here and there could be a touch better. Could also use a slightly bigger selection.
Overall a good place, nice ambiance. Being downtown, prices not terrible.
The receptionist’s are not on their game at all, they were very disinterested, they did not come to the bar where we were sitting waiting for our table, I had to check in twice even after I asked will you be able to come and get us and they said yes. I think whoever is in charge of overseeing the reception should be there and attend it. Very poor I give it a -one star...
The food was great, a bit overpriced for what you get. The desert is nothing more better than Cheesecake Factory. The pastry chef should up his game in the selection. The creme brûlée
We enjoyed our Valentine night out. As expected it was crowded and the space was a little tight and noisy. The food was wonderful and the service attentive. The new location exceeded my expectations.
The experience was for Valentine’s Day 2020. The service we received from the service was terrible. Maybe because gratuity was already included? Either way, I did not have a good experience with it. The food was good, however the value wasn’t worth what we ordered. Dessert; creme brûlée was not crispy and was served in a way I’ve never had before and the server was of absolutely no help and had a very poor attitude even deeper than the already poor service she was giving.
Very sad to have spent a holiday like this.
Awesome food and cocktails! Can’t wait to go back!
Super jam packed and prices were 2x-3x menu prices for Valentine’s Day. They originally tried seating us right next to a server’s station and we asked to be moved. (You could tell they added the table for V-day). They did re-seat us right away at least. We could tell they were trying to get people in and out as quickly as possible. Plus they auto charged 18% gratuity for a party of 2, without telling us, which I also tipped on top of. Totally my fault for not looking at the itemized receipt, but normally I only see that charged for large parties, so I didn’t think to look.
Have been there before on an off day and really enjoyed it! The 1st course ribs were amazing. Maybe this is just par for the course for going out on Valentines Day (especially in the city)
My first visit to its new location, I was sorry to have chosen Valentine's Day, when there was a very limited menu, and the servers were overwhelmingly busy! I ordered the lobster, which wasn't cracked completely, so you had to pick it up with your fingers to crack it. Covered in sauce, however, made it slippery, not to mention messy, so much of it I had to just leave in its shell. 😪 Dipping sauces and rice meant for both of us was instead placed beside my dinner partner when his entree was presented, so thinking it was his, he ate all of it. When at the end of the meal I asked why I hadn't gotten any, they brought me some rice ... but too late really. All in all, it was fine tho, and our server was gracious and attentive. I'll be returning on a "regular" evening to check out the whole menu!
The food was very disappointing, the previous location was so authentic and real that I wanted to take me special valentine to this new place and was super excited about it. But it turned out to be a very disappointing experience. Especially the red snapper it was not prepared the authentic way. It was just done in some hasty way and tasted like a cheap fast food place.
Waitress was very kind and generous.
The ambience decor was very tacky not like the previous location which had a great colonial look and feel.
Sorry, won’t be returning back.
Really sad , I miss the old Le Colonial and it’s authenticity.
Stupid me. I made Valentine's reservations there, with no advance warning of the VASTLY over priced prix fixe only menu. Although the food was good, it wasn't worth a 150% mark up. Although we had a very early 5PM reservation because my GF had to work early in the morning, they would not let us order off the regular menu. I like to shower before I get f*cked. Will never eat here again.
For such an expensive place, I expected more attentive service. However, the food is good and it's worth trying once.
The food was amazing, we sat next to the bar, not in the main dining area even though we had a reservation. The service was almost too rushed. Plates being taken away, before the last bite. Dessert did not live up to the main course dishes, they need to work on the last part of the meal. The food overall was flavorful and just the right amount.
The noise level is out of control, we could hear the conversation of someone three tables down from us. Would certainly go back, maybe skip dessert and order another small plate.
Great place to enjoy a wonderful lunch. It’s unforgettable how tasty the food.
The food and service was very good. Our only complaint is the seating. We don't like sitting at a two top right next to people on our right and left.
Been a fan of Le Colonial for years. Was my first visit since the new location opened. Still spectacular food, service and ambience. Menu is always changing which annoys me but it pushes me to try new things and I’m yet to taste something that isn’t up to a 5 star level. Great job Le Colonial!
Our favorite on earth. Raphael best msytade period
Not sure why it took me so long to finally eat here! Food was amazing, service was exceptional and the new location is stunning. My mother in law is Vietnamese so I am spoiled with home cooked authentic Viet cuisine and this lived up to it. I will forewarn, if you plan to get 2 drinks each and an appetizer or two on top of a meal, the tab will add up.
A beautiful ambiance with excellent service and food. Outstanding experience!
As usual, the service was kind and amazing! Food was so tasty! We had a beautiful table by the window. Gorgeous! Loved drinks and food.
Loved it!! I’ve always been there for dinner and this time for lunch. Such a lovely, lively and light atmosphere. Food is great and we did the restaurant week lunch.
Service is less, I’ve noticed this before, the guys are a bit moody but they serve what you order.
Noisy. Put a damper on the ceiling.
The egg rolls reminded me if those from lean cuisine as my noodle dish, likewise
The pho was excellent.
The tapioca pudding, however, was great.
Delicious food. Great attentive service.
The Red Snapper was outstanding! Service was spot on!
The ambience is like a tropical jungle - but with a view of Oak Street. The food is delicious. I especially enjoyed the clay pot chicken and hot Vietnamese coffee - both featured on the restaurant week lunch menu. I will definitely return to sample other delicacies.
Very pretty place, great service, and good food.
