Wonderful food and ambience...
Love everything about the restaurant!!
A step down from the old location. The ambiance is not there, tables are very close together and food is not special anymore. Chicago food scene has moved forward and this place backward to mediocre cheap Chinatown like food and presentation.
Also service is not personal and hurried. We used to feel old time charm and welcome before - not anymore
Food is always terrific. The new location is beautiful and more spacious.
So wonderful. Most romantic spot to eat in Chicago.
PHO is phenomenal!!
Everything was wonderful, until we left and there was a woman all over a man making out in the middle of the bar area. It was so crude to see that allowed in the establishment. It ruined the whole experience. They obviously were allowing it.
The service was not commensurate with the cost of the diner $400+ for 4.The hostess fumbled our arrival; we asked for a booth in our reservation and again when the restaurant called to confirm our reservation and they took us to a table that we in the corner and overshadowed by a large plant. The service was not refined and the bus boys took our plates almost before we were finished. Le Colonial team needs to work on the customer experience. The food was fabulous however.
Simply outstanding
This place is a gem and the new location is sublime
Love the restaurant. All flavors are delicious and ambiance is exquisite!
Food was fantastic. Ambience was great. Service was impeccable!
I had dinner at Le Colonial three times this week and loved each of the experience. By far, my favorite restaurant in Chicago and I send everyone I can.
Raphael and team do a wonderful job! Thank you!
We visited the new location, and thought the space was nice, but were disappointed that the menu seemed pared back. But the food and service were good.
Fantastic and beautifully presented food. Great ambiance.
George was a great server. Food was delicious and fresh. Loved the Thai chili margarita!
My grandparents were in town and we were stopping in for a bite. The place was lovely and we enjoyed ourselves. The food was yummy.
Fantastic fusion of Asian and French cuisine as ever. Every choice was great.
Fine all around. Only issue was serving staff continually bumping my chair! Stopped after I got our server to intervene. Will return-a unique ambiance.
They have great service and a nice atmosphere. It’s Billed as French/Vietnamese, but to me, I felt like there was very little French influence if any. So it's really just a nice atmosphere Vietnamese restaurant – (But one that I think is expensive).
The tuna tartar had some heat to it, which a lot of people may like (or even expect), but I think it masks any subtle flavors, which is something I don’t expect from French restaurants. The other three dishes we tried were fine, just nothing special, ( and to me, not commensurate with the price).
If you like Vietnamese cuisine (and are okay with the price) you may really like it.
We had a wonderful birthday celebration for our son at Le Colonial this past weekend. Their new space on Oak Street is so gorgeous, rich, romantic and warm....it really transports you to another place. The food as always was amazing and the wine list is good and affordable. We had a lovely table overlooking Oak Street which was perfect.
Absolutely our favorite! We always make it a point to go here in Chicago. We were apprehensive when they moved from their charming location around the corner but they have accelerated with this new space. We love it!
Everything was wonderful! Will be tops on our list for our next visit to Chicago!
Excellent in every way.
We always dine at Le Colonial when in Chicago. I was sad to see they moved, but when we discovered it was just around the corner I was relieved. When we actually arrived, I was abundantly impressed at the execution of style in the new location. They really nailed the aesthetic and ambiance of the restaurant.
I was really disappointed not to see bouillabaisse on the menu. It is the best dish ever. Please bring it back!!!
Subpar viet food at super premium price.
Ingredients seem to be top notch.
Service is great.
We celebrated my husband’s birthday at a lovely booth in the corner of the back room. Very romantic and quieter than most tables.
Food was outstanding and restaurant listened to my request for a dessert with candles- chocolate gelato with chocolate candy rounds with a candle on top. He loved his celebration at Le Colonial as did I!!!!!
Absolutely everything was fantastic! So yummy and so beautiful!!
My wife is Vietnamese and she absolutely loves this restaurant. Can’t wait to visit Chicago again. Try the ca bam. So yummy!!
Everything was delicious. We highly recommend the brussels spouts and bok choy sides.
Great food and service
We requested a table next to the window but this didn’t happen. Otherwise great.
Good food and lovely atmosphere.
We go to Le Colonial every time we visit Chicago, which is once a year. They basically do everything right with no detail left to chance. The food and service is incredible and very consistent, the surroundings are spot on Colonial era Vietnam. I can not recommend this experience enough.
Excellent food and excellent service. You can enjoy a table or hang out around the bar. Great ambiance; great value for the money considering the fancy Oak street address.
This place is always a treat. We loved the food, service and atmosphere. Our waitress was so helpful with ordering suggestions. And the food was wonderful.
Lovely lunch! Service was wonderful! Good delicious!
When I asked to be seated by the window the hostess was so sweet.
Thanks!
Food still great after ten years of annual get together... portions are rather small and not conducive to sharing however
Everything was perfection as usual!!!!
Service was terrible. I called to let restaurant know. Was very disappointed bc food was amazing and this was a special birthday celebration.
This is one of the best restaurants in Chicago! Love all of their food and the service is excellent. I often just stop at the bar for a delicious Lychee Martini and appetizers.....great way to end a busy day.
