Such a great place - love the atmosphere, food and service. They were swamped. Took 45 minutes to take our order. But we will be back.
You didn’t actually stay to eat there. I have made a reservation for my birthday celebration at least a month in advance, on OpenTable, and put in notes that we’d like the patio. I called the morning of to change the number of people, because a couple who was supposed to join us had a death in the family. When we arrived, asked if we could get a table outside. There were several tables open, but the hostess and someone who seemed to be the manager, said that they were all reserved. I said that I also reserved an outdoor table and way in advance, but they said that if I didn’t make the reservation directly on their website, mine wouldn’t have priority. I mentioned it was my birthday and would really love a table out. They went on saying that we can’t. Sat us at a table inside instead, but we didn’t feel welcomed and left.
The biggest problem wasn’t that we didn’t get a table outside, the main issue was that neither of them apologized at all for not being able to sit us outside; they just talked to us with attitude. From a restaurant like that, you’d expect at least a nice, welcoming attitude and an apology for not being able to accommodate our reservation. Just very poor customer service and it will be some time until we go back there.
Beautiful restaurant with Indochine decor, comfortable table spacing, soft lighting, discreet service, good menu and wine list. Three of us had Lichi martinis, we shared three starters among four of us and two of us shared the duck for the main, which was perfect. The others had shrimp and salmon which looked good and the deserts were beautifully presented, particularly the sago and the la citron made with yuzu lemon and white chocolate in the form of a lemon which was outstanding. There was a huge selection of wines but we had a Rose which worked well for the occasion. This is a wonderful restaurant designed with restrained and refined taste that recreates the atmosphere of Vietnam in Colonial times. It was as if I was back in Hanoi or Saigon with the waiting staff in Eastern themed uniforms. I loved this place and will be back every time I visit Atlanta. I believe Le Bilboquet is owned by the same owner and while I like both restaurants, Le Colonial is probably the best restaurant in Atlanta right now. While most of the guests were well dressed, unfortunately one or two men strolled in with shorts and flip flops and women arrived in their gardening outfits. Thankfully they were the minority so I am hoping things stay that way for many years to come so that the restaurant preserves its gracious atmosphere.
Everything was exceptional and the service was excellent.
Our server was really bad.
I took my fiancé and kids out for Father’s Day. We all loved the meal including my picky 9 year old and our adventurous 1 year old. The ambiance was just what we needed and our server went above and beyond. I think it is my new favorite place to eat!
I brought my Dad here hoping for a special Fathers Day lunch but we didn’t feel special upon an on time arrival and notifying the hostess of our 2:45 reservation. In fact, she was quite dismissive and didn’t really bother to ensure we were accommodated. That first impression was a major let down. It took a few attempts to find out when we’d be seated, and I asked someone else since the initial encounter didn’t bode well. The atmosphere was enjoyable as was the food. The wait staff were nice enough, but sadly, our first impression set the tone for the evening. After many visits to other Buckhead Village restaurants, I’m not sure I’d return here or would recommend.
Father's Day brunch was wonderful!
Wonderful Restaurant. One of the best in Atlanta. My new favorite.
It was my birthday and they made it very special!
Absolutely wonderful dining experience! The ambience was perfection especially being on the patio with a storm rolling in. The food was exceptional and everyone loved their dishes. My personal favorites were the ceviche & green shrimp curry. Best restaurant in Atlanta!
Amazing food fantastic service from Molly.
Food was wonderful. The service was so slow and inattentive that we had to get up three times to locate our server. 2.5 hours for lunch.
Amazing food, will go back again. The best green papaya salad I have ever tasted.
Cocktails arrived after the appetizers. Duck was tough, chewy and fatty - skin not crisp. beef rice noodle appetizer was unwieldy - unable to eat easily with chopsticks, fork or fingers. Wine list low quality but expensive. Restaurant was not full but waitstaff seemed overwhelmed.
The prix fixe lunch was excellent. Great waitstaff and ambiance.
Everything was delicious and the cocktails as well.
Great food and service for birthday celebration. Love the food!!!
Love this place. Food is excellent. Love the outdoor terrace.
The atmosphere is so nice and different to anywhere I have been before, especially if you sit outside with the view of Buckhead. The food is amazing, especially the papaya salad and chilled spring rolls!! Will definitely be going back very soon.
I really like this place, just find it very disappointing that there are so few vegetarian options, well really there is only 1 vegetarian entree... I'd say that's the main opportunity for improvement
Love love I will be returning real soon. I don’t live here but this is the Place to be and Food🙌🏾
The food was very solid but definitely a lot of room for improvement in service. Our waitress took almost an hour go get our dinner orders. Then came back 40 min after we ordered to tell us they ran out of their signature snapper dish all whilst the tables around us who had been seated after us got their food, including snapper! The food that did eventually come was very good but there was no compensation or correcting the poor service. We would like to try the food again but may choose to find well prepared snapper elsewhere.
I brought some guests from out of town for a nice dinner here and the whole experience was fantastic. They were able to accommodate my last minute request for outside seating which I appreciated since the outdoor patio is quieter and more intimate for conversation. Our waiter was fabulous and we had great service the entire night. He was friendly, accommodating, and funny which we appreciated. We ordered the red snapper which was so delicious and one of the best fish dishes we’ve ever had. The fried rice and eggplant were also incredible. This is my second time at Le Colonial and I appreciate coming here for quality food, consistently great service, affordability for the area, and the beautiful atmosphere. I will be back!!
The service at this place was the best. Like everyone of staff was very pleasant. It was mentioned that the entrees were family style, but if you love lamb like I do, don't share that dish. You only get three chops, so it was like we had one and a half. The small plates were very shareable. We had the chicken and pork eggrolls and the chicken dumplings. I would try other small plates the next time I go. Ambiance is great too. I will definitely request to sit outside next time.
Amazing amazing experience, the food was excellent, our waitress was adorable and so personable, the ambience was everything. Definitely coming back for sure!!
The food was delicious especially the crème brulee! Service was quick. Silverware was exchanged at each course, and water was promptly refilled. Décor and atmosphere was nice. The French influences could be seen in the decorations, but I liked that the food was predominately Vietnamese which is what I had hoped for. Overall, wonderful evening spent at Le Colonial.
Great food. Warm on the terrace. Dress accordingly
Dessert was very tasteful done. Servers and all the staffs were wonderful.
Wine list a little pricey , but a great restaurant
Our server was attentive and there was a clear explanation about the food. The shaking beef was an excellent choice for us and the flavor and taste of the beef was fantastic
Katie was the best waitress! We loved our experience there.
