Le Clos of Amelia Island, Inc.
The menu at Le Clos starts with classic French appetizers like escargot, pate, and calamari. Entres include a range of rustic French dishes, such as breast of chicken with citrus beurre blanc and beef and duck meatloaf with a red wine mushroom pan sauce.
For over 20 years this has been my wife’s and my favorite restaurant on the island, and we have always been to Le Clos on Valentines Day. Unfortunately this year was different. Most of the staff was new and although they worked hard, the impression was one of mild chaos. We were not seated for over 20minutes after our confirmed reservation. Worse, the food was strictly mediocre, particularly the pasta which was bland and uninteresting. The menu has not changed appreciably in many years so the selections are becoming a bit tiresome. I’m sorry to write this review because we have truly loved this restaurant over more than two decades, but management must recognize the dining experience is no longer what it used to be.
Must preface these remarks by saying it was Valentine's Day and very busy. We did have a reservation but our table looked like an afterthought being placed right in front of the entrance way in the path of every waitress. It was cold and uncomfortable.
Service was slow, meals placed in front of the wrong individuals and the food not particularly hot (maybe that was from the cold of the front door).
Our first time there, did enjoy the Bordeaux but not eager to return.
We have been to LeClos a number of times and each time have enjoyed the food, setting and wine selections. The menu has remained fairly standard over the years but is decidedly French and is definitely the best French food on Amelia Island. There are new wines introduced as well as the excellent standbys. We had a Davis Bynum Pinot Noir from Russian River area of Sonoma, and it superbly complimented the tuna that two of our party had and the duck that I ordered. Prices are fair for the quality of food presented. We will definitely look forward to returning.
This little gem offered a nice dining experience in town of fried foods. The selection was eclectic and the service personal. Very nice change of pace.
Best food we had all week! The duck prepares to perfection. Service very good. Would have given it 5 stars except the noise level was pretty loud.
We loved it! . Will recommend to friends
Le Clos is always our “special evening” when visiting Amelia. The food, service and ambiance never fail to disappoint. Reservations are a must, as Le Clos has inside seating for only 45.
Great dinner and birthday celebration. Would definitely recommend LeClos.
There were six of us for dinner. Everyone loved their meals. Ashley did an excellent job taking care of us. This restaurant will be our go to place every time we’re back .
A great place for a date on the island, reminded me of a classic French bistro. Excellent service and food. I can see things getting tight on a busy night but not the case for us. We will definitely return, so many more items to taste! The Escargot is a must!
Always exceptional food. Never disappointed. A “to do” must each time I visit the island. The servers are very knowledgeable and friendly.
Never disappointed! The food is great, the service is great, the ambiance is great, and even though it gets loud, and you sit rather close to people, the noise turns into static and you end up feeling like the only person in the room.
It’s a great place for romantic date, the food is amazing , taste it’s so good , just is a small place but everything else is good
One of our favorites. Service is very professional and cheerful. Meals are elegantly presented and the food is excellent.
Noice level was very high could not hear our friends.
Mitzi is wonderful!!!
Le Clos is our favorite restaurant on Amelia Island. We eat there every time we visit. Consistently excellent food and service. And the BEST escargots!
We dined to enjoy the Restaurant Week menu. Our party was immediately seated as we arrived at our reservation time. Ashley and Stephanie took care of our drinks and meal orders. Everyone enjoyed the variety of choices on the special menu. Thanks for a most awesome meal!
One of the Better Amelia Island Restaurants. We will go there again.
This was our third visit to LaClos and even though it was during Restaurant Week, it was fabulous! The food and the service were superb and we love dining there and will continue to do so in the future.
Had reservations. Arrived about 10 minutes early but were seated promptly as a table became available. The wait staff were super!
Not French, we have eaten In France and French restaurant in Florida too!
Husbands duck was rare and a piece had to go back to be re-cooked! Waitress that we had dealt with all night snubbed us with not even goodbye when we left. Would not recommend or go back
The food, even with the shortened menu for Amelia Restaurant Week was wonderful with our tenderloins cooked perfectly.
Only detector was the high noise level and the frenetic activity of the staff.
We will return.
We ordered off the restaurant week menu. My husband and I had the salad with the thin cut apples. It was light, tart and delicious. We each ordered the fillet mignon which was one of the best steaks that we’ve had on the island. My husband had the homemade chocolate cake with vanilla bean ice cream and I had the baked apple with almonds and honey. His dessert was decadent with a rich chocolate topping. My Apple was a light finish for a perfect meal.
Waited over 1/2 hour for our table. Their website did not mention they were taking part in restaurant week, so limited menu.
Le Clos is always our go to restaurant for special occasions and especially when friends come from large metropolitan areas abundant with fine restaurants. As usual, the noise level and packed in tables are an issue. It was a chilly night and wish I had reserved a table NOT just inside and next to the front door.
The food per usual was plated beautifully and tasted as good as it looked.
Le Clos was our first outing during Restaurant Week in Fernandina; a great start! The food is exquisite and beautifully presented. The duck was particularly delicious as were the wines available by the glass . The vichyssoise was about the best I had ever had! Mitsy was a first-class server and very knowledgeable about the menu and wine list!
Great food and service. Will be back again.
Have eaten here three times and wonderful meals and service with each visit. Escargot is great!!
Excellent service in a charming small cottage in Fernandina Beach. French trained chef creates excellent menu items.
Always enjoy this restaurant— best in Amelia Island, in my opinion!
Excellent dining experience! Food, ambience and service was top notch. We highly recommended Le Clos
We have been fortunate to dine at Le Clos several times over the past few years. It never disappoints. Always excellent food with matching service. Wish we lived closer so we could go more often! Highly recommended. Reservations suggested.
LeClos is a small French bistro on Amelia Island. Great atmosphere. Very nice menu. Flounder was prepared perfectly. Placed over mashed potatoes seemed a little odd. Steak frittes were very good. A little to rare which I asked for. Expected skinny frittes both got regular fries. Sauce and mushrooms very good. Service is very good. Somewhat pricey.
Super restaurant!!!
Love it!!
Best duck ever,,
Good price..
This is a small restaurant with a limited menu. The food was good and the service was outstanding. Apparently Cooke got sick and had to leave but the wait staff did a great job in the shops absence. A bit pricey and the price fix special advertised on the website is no longer available. This is a small restaurant with a limited menu. The food was good and the service was outstanding. Great ambiance, food and overall feel. Appetizers and main courses were excellent _ we were so full we didn’t have room for desert!
For a small place it is well laid out, with great service. The meals were excellent and we even had room for dessert. This is a well worth going to place for a great meal.
This has been a favorite of ours for years, and the first time we visited in some time. Loved the decor and ambiance, and choice of wine is exceptional. Wait staff is pleasant and helpful. While our food was good, it did not seem to our party to be as good in the past. While we enjoyed our evening, it did not seem to meet the memories we have of past times we have visited.
Overall food is very good portions q1 are on the small side Vichysoisewhich u don't see often is quite good
