We ate here a couple times during the holidays back when the famiy had money. Quite and event - two hundred dollar bottles of wine, Tony Bennett dining at a nearby table, ornaments spinning on a track above the bar...good times. C'est la vie.
Food was good. However the restaurant has lost its ambiance and service level. Although jackets are required for men, there were men in jeans and sweaters. The noise level was loud. Service was ok but not the level of excellence like in the past.
Didn’t worth what I paid for. There are a lot of others restaurants with a better cost and benefits in the New York City.
It was quite disappointing. Wanted to go there due to its history before they moved again/heard they were closing for a NYC bucket list experience at the legendary Le Cirque, but was not impressed in anyway. We ordered the tasting menu, maybe we would have been better off ordering off the regular menu. Overpriced for mediocre food. Don't waste your time or money here.
They are closing end of 2017. Wish we knew that before we went. Service awful. Food awful. Too bad...used to be a great place and now our last memory is negative. I'll never go to one of their restaurants again. They should be ashamed of themselves.
It is an excellent restaurant, known to me for 16 years, i was expecting my trip and be lucky to find a place. Food was outstanding, wine was very good.
It was Christmas Eve and the staff seemed disorganized - almost like they were temps hired for the night because the normal staff didn’t want to work. Service was slow and being as they are changing location in the new year, they didn’t stock the bar and wine cellar which is odd for a high end restaurant. They almost had an air of “who cares, we’re done” about them. Most of the food was very good though the steak was extremely bland
Awful, not the same as I remember. They should close down and they are.
My how this restaurant has declined! Had Xmas dinner (prix fixe) with my wife and what a bad experience. Snooty waiter, food that one would expect on a low end cruise ship (over-cooked steak, trout that had any semblance of life boiled out of it), even the couple next to us walked out after the appetizer. With so many truly exceptional restaurants in the City, this one’s future is not looking good.
Worst dining experience in my life - food was nearly inedible.
1. My reservation was not checked in properly and I received an alert from you.
2. As they are closing, the food was serviceable at best. Should not charge what they did for frozen fish and vegetables.
Extremely disappointing!!!
Not what it use to be. Far better restaurants available when price is no issue
Wine list needs updating.
Menu was geeat!
We have been here before and we’re very impressed. This time the staff was completely disorganized. Perhaps it was because the manager appeared to be on his cell phone most of the time. We almost missed our show because no one asked if we had any time constraints. Such a shame, but it’s off our list of restaurants in NYC.
Always a wonderful meal and terrific ambiance. You had the pomme souffle for us... YEAH! And, our Maitre de, Moon, very nice, conversational and most attentive to us. I'm so sorry the restaurant will be closed, for so long, during the renovation and move. But, I look forward to coming back, as my uncle and I have been coming to Le Cirque for 40 years--a NYC tradition. Thank you so much and good luck. --Basil
Le Cirque is Le Cirque!
Best of everything.
Need I say more?
The restaurant is closing at the end of the month. And you could tell. The waiters were inattentive and could care less about service, even after you complained about it. We waited 1/2 hour for our drink to come. There was a bug in the wine. When we complained about that the waiter said that that was just “part of nature”. The poor service completely ruined our dinner. I would never go back.
It was our first time at Le Cirque and it did not disappoint. We had a wonderful evening enjoying great food and drinks. I would highly recommend it.
Special!! Delicious! Nothing could be bad on this menu
I was really disappointed. My $45 fish was cold and the sauce it came with was too think and bitter. My friend ordered the chicken and stopped eating it.
This place is way overpriced for what they serve.
Staff was charming, informative, helpful. But there were several open contentious interactions among them which subtracted from the professionalism.
Dover sole was good, delicate and with especially delicious sauce.
Sadly this was a special birthday celebration and the service was neglectful. Needed to flag the waiter for each course and even the bill. They forgot to bring dessert as requested. The food was nothing special for a meal that cost over $275.
Very disappointed, service was not very good and rather slow; food was not hot but on the cool side and over-priced (1 dinner roll was $9). They are closing or moving to a different location and it showed!
For a high end restaurant the service was very slow and the food was average. We went for Business lunch. Had to rush thru lunch when it finally arrived since we had limited time. Unfortunate.....I was hopeful for something special...like a Daniels. Oh well.
Surprised to see a smaller crowd on holiday Thursday... Maybe because they're moving locations... That being said it was a good experience and the food and service were good
We'd celebrated our 20th and 25th anniversary at Le Cirque and wanted to return to celebrate our 35th. Sadly, with Sirio not working due to health issues this restaurant has lost its luster. The staff really didn't care, the food was only OK and the experience was disappointing.
Food was excellent; however, service seems to have declined from previous visits. We had to hail server several times - more bread, more water, more coffee.
It was always going to be an experience, but expectations rarely line up with reality.
'Gentlemen are required to wear jackets' should be prefaced with 'unless you appear to be a new, rich kid, and wish to wear a baseball cap nd a t-shirt, our Jacket policy is a simple suggestion.....'
Add to that the Children's Christmas party being held in a private room off of the bar, with a DJ pumping out hits during our entire meal, we can say that the experience certainly proved that this gastronomic icon has left it's roots firmly behind, and is chasing the new dolliars.
It's a shame, because so few places can boast such a rich history and find themselves as a must-do destination.
Le Cirque has demonstrated that it is now not one of those places......
We had a terrible experience. It was extremely noisy, our waiter disappeared and we had to ask the bus boy for drinks and the check. The lamb was overcooked and just an overall disappointment. I would never return especially when there are so many better places.
Very disappointed, came two time before few years back and was amazing,
Overprice for what they offer , food not good , not well presented , service not good ,
I have dine in less expensive restaurants with better food and service , definitely not going back or recommend .
Looks like ownership and chef change , definitely not the restaurant I remember,
Extremely disappointed
We love to visit Le Cirque around the holiday's as the restaurant is elegant and warm with impeccable service. The butternut squash soup, cesar salad, lobster ravioli, and duck fettucini carbonara were fabulous. My only gripe is, at the end of dinner this past Saturday, I asked the receptionist to please call us a cab. She seemed not to know that calling a can was possible. She suggested that we go out and flag one down. It was a cold windy night and if we wanted to hunt down a cab ourselves, we would have done so. I had to ask again: "Would you PLEASE call us a cab?" Fortunately, one of the managers overheard my request, interjected, and said that he'd flag one down for us, which he did. Other than that, it was a superb dining experience.
The food was outstanding. Ordered the Dover sole. Expensive but very tasty. Venison was cooked perfectly very tender. Service was a little slow but otherwise we had a great experience
Le Cirque fine dining is legendary and worth the trip, whether it's a business occasion or a special date. This is the second location I've been to and can't wait to see their new place.
The entire experience was at "white gloves" level of service and sophistication. Highly recommended.
I must admit, I was truly disappointed with this meal and experience. I have dined at Le Cirque before and never had any issue before. Something has changed.
It took nearly 30 minutes for a waiter to even ask if we wanted anything to drink and another 30 minutes for the appetizers to arrive. One of the entrees was delivered incorrectly, side orders not delivered until we asked for them and our waiter neglected to check in as you would normally expect when you're dining at a fine restaurant. Coffee was brought about 15 minutes after desserts were brought...which is not the most optimal timing and after requesting it once without avail, a second request for the check took forever.
I am uncertain what has changed at Le Cirque, but it wasn't for the best. Disappointed.
Wonderful classic restaurant. Luxurious and peaceful for conversation. Great food and prices are very fair.
I had dinner 11/8/17. We were promptly seated, water poured and promptly forgotten for the next 20 minutes. I had to chase down the waiter to come and take our order. I was surprised because the restaurant was rather empty.
The menu was tired and food taste was sub par. Tuna tartar tasted like lemon. I was expecting fresh tuna without an overbearing lemon flavor to cover up any fishiness. My lobster ravioli tasted like it was batch made the day before. Costco's lobster raviolli tasted fresher. My date didn't even eat half her duck entree.
The restaurant would be a great date restaurant (quite, romatic ambiance) if it weren't for the low service quality and poor food offering.
Too many little things in the decor for dust collecting. Need to tone it down and make it more classy as it should be.....!!!
We appreciate that there is sound reading materials, carpet/drapery, that helps with the space not being too noisy. Most restaurants could take lessons from LeCirque insofar as the noise factor!
Oh, by the way, the wait station is too close to the tables... Not good.
Not valueable. Too much expensive for the quality.
