Flavor is overrated. The restaurant doesn't look much outside but the food was extremely amazing. The soup was to die for. I would most definitely go back and I did one more time.

LeCheval has been a favorite of ours for years. The food is consistently good and we love the noodle, curry and pork dishes. The atmosphere is energetic and it can get noisy there. If you are dining with someone with a hearing problem, I would not recommend visiting during peak busy times. The service is consistently good, but don't plan on spending a long leisurely evening there. They tend to clear the dishes and turn over the tables very quickly. Give LeCheval a try- you will definitely enjoy this neighborhood gem.

With the intention of ordering the fish of the day (catfish), I entered this entertaining restaurant solo. Learning they had sold out of that fish, the wait person kept pressing me toward the tilapia. It was a large filet, yet served solo on the plate without garnish. It had been pan-fried and was not greasy. Still, the spices native to the Vietnamese cuisine were all but undetectable in my dish. If I venture back, I will be sure to order the watercress salad enhanced with prawns or one of the clay pot selections. These dishes elicited smiles from other diners.

We've been here many times and think it is one of the best Vietnamese restaurants in Oakland. Try their beef, appetizer rolls, salads, and fish clay pots. It is one of few restaurants left where cocktails can be $8, which accounts for the many peope at the bar. Service can be too fast and not well paced You can be eating the appetizer and the main dishes are already appearing at your table. Friendly staff.

We have been to le Cheval numerous times and the food continues to be good as was the service. But the noise level made conversation difficult.

This restaurant is amazing! I took my wife and kids to celebrate her birthday and it just so happened to be Chinese New Year. The dragon dancing and martial arts demo was AWESOME! The food was 5 stars as usual and the service was impeccable! I recommend anyone who is looking for a great evening at a classy place to try Le Cheval's

It's so easy to over order at Le Cheval. The food comes out ridiculously fast, and yet it is so tasty. We hadn't been here in a long time, but the food and service is just like I remember. Maybe next time, I'll remember to have a shot of the "snake juice"....

Le Cheval is our go to restaurant for family, friends and groups when in Oakland. We have never been disappointed with the food, service, ambience and experience. We have a variety of favorites that we go too, like the Shrimp Roles, Lemongrass Prawns, Fish in Claypot, Whole fish, dry fried crab... We return weekly for lunch or dinner.
