This was our second time and it was as enjoyable as the first. A pleasant setting and excellent, professional service. I believe her name was Jeanine.
Lovely ! Very good, very quiet, nice people
Why has Open Table removed the ability to send a reservation to a guest? I used to be able to enter the email address of someone who would be dining with us and then Open Table would send that person the information about the reservation. I really miss that.
We had the most amazing time celebrating our anniversary... loved it!!
Best meal ever will go back soon.
special crab cakes inedible. steak ordered medium rare was raw and eggs ordered over easy were too cooked through.
My husband and I were attending the Philadelphia Orchestra and decided to try Le Cheri for a pre-concert dinner. It was an authentic French meal. He had Escargots and I had the pate for the first course. Both were excellent. Dinner was Dover Sole for me and a filet and sweetbreads for him. We really enjoyed both.
While we did not want dessert, four little confections were brought to us with the check - what a great and just right end to the meal.
Romantic ambiance, the service is wonderful (not pushy or judgy). The food is phenomenal, servings are generous, delish!!!
I can't say that Le Cheri lived up to the stellar reviews it receives. My wife and I went there for my birthday on a Saturday and left rather disappointed in the dinner. It's not that the food was BAD, it's just that it was only OK. The fois gras appetizer was one of the worst I've had, but I prefer it to be warm, not cold. The escargots appetizer lacked flavor, but again was okay. The red snapper entree was good, but the veal duo had some issues; the sweetbreads were good, but the flank was a disgrace- overcooked and flavorless, and the jus which could have elevated the dish was fairly bland. The staff is very pleasant and the place has some charm, but the food fell far short of expectations.
Always very good and comfortable. The new way of preparing escargot without special porcelain dish was disappointing. Bone marrow was not suited to accompany escargot.
The snapper, however, was excellently done.
Martini was mediocre, but wine selection is always wonderful.
Our second time for brunch at Le Cherie and it was as good as the first which was wonderful. It is the most reasonable high-end brunch in the city in a delightful setting. Food is delicious, well and thoughtfully prepared. I would and do recommend it to many.
Attentive staff, great food and an intimate atmosphere.
My husband and I enjoyed our meal immensely. The food was superb!
Excellent food, hidden gem
This place is a hidden jewel
We are returning guests. Always excellent food and service. Special sauces bring out the best. Convenient location in Art Alliance space. Somewhat noisy when full. We try to return at least twice yearly. Always stay in town. Makes for a great weekend.
When a friend had to cancel dinner plans because of travel difficulties, I decided to keep the reservation. Upon arrival, the hostess graciously re-seated me at the bar. The bartender was polite and attentive. The food was exquisite (escargot, bone marrow, steak tartare, bread, butter) and the champagne was perfectly tart and bubbly. I'll definitely visit again the next time I'm in Philadelphia.
We are fans of Le Cheri and go there about every other month. It is one of my favorite restaurants and I expect a very good meal at each visit. However, last weekend, they exceeded even those high expectations. My dinner was off the charts delicious! Each dish was memorable, and the best I've had in the past year. Their smoked salmon appetizer is always wonderful, and my main course of quail was extraordinary, while the panna cotta dessert was lovely and interesting. As always, the setting is tranquil and attractive, and the service is just right--professional and attentive without being stiff. This is what the perfect restaurant dinner should be!
Great menu, wonderful food and ambience. A la prochaine.
Le Cheri is always solid and always serves consistently excellent food. This most recent visit did not disappoint. Dover sole was fantastic. The boeuf bourguignon was extremely tender and flavorful. We had a terrific evening.
It’s in center city but it feels like you’re in France. The menu, the service and the pace are all continental.
This was a lovely meal. The food was excellent, with several things on the menu that I wanted to try. The wine selection was nice with some reasonably priced options. Service was pleasant and the decor was simple and quiet. A really great place.
The venue, food and service were beyond expectations. The presentation was excellent as well. The staff was both pleasant and accommodating. I would without question return to this restaurant
Saturday brunch was great. Service was excellent. Very nice atmosphere and we never once felt rushed, which you cannot say for most brunch places in the city. Most other places are packed and there are 10 more people waiting for your table. The only thing I'd recommend to the restaurant management is that please serve your butter soft. It is impossible to spread it on bread and pastries when it is straight out of a refrigerator and like a rock. Menu options are somewhat limited but the items we picked were excellent. Will visit again soon.
Le Chéri is a beautiful space with a beautiful bar and two dining rooms. We ate in the smaller more intimate dining room in the back. The outside dining area looks fantastic but obviously wasn’t available this time of year.
The specialty cocktails were both interesting and tasty.
Our meals were mixed. The Beof Bourguignon was very tasty. The steak Au Poivre was surprisingly tasteless. Considering it was made with a strip steak, usually very flavorful even without any sauce.
The service was spotty. We found ourselves with empty glasses a couple times. Maybe it’s because I’m of Irish decent.
We will go back again just to make sure we just hit an off night and because it’s only a couple blocks away.
Great romantic restaurant! Took my wife there for valentine's day and the menu was excellent! Courteous service and warm ambiance.
This restaurant is in a beautiful, historic mansion and one feels a level of luxury and service as soon as you are seated. The cuisine is superb, truly French. The word "curated" is over-used but it is apt with regard to the excellent wine list. We have dined there before, but this time we went on a regular Sunday evening because of their special prix fixe four-course dinner. This is the absolute best bargain in Philadelphia. We will become Sunday regulars.
Beef tartar is really good. Creme brulee, outstanding!
Good service and tasty dishes - and relatively quiet
Wanted to invite two discerning friends (seniors like me) for lunch in a restaurant where we could comfortably converse. Given my friends' tastes, I knew that I needed a place that had refined cuisine and an elegant atmosphere. Le Cheri came to mind, and it turned out to be an ideal choice. The food was exquisite, perfect for ladies wanting lighter fare. My crab galette was magnificent, memorable. My friends swooned over the saumon fume and the special celery root soup. Delicious espresso coffee. We had no trouble conversing, because the tables are not closely spaced and the music is soft. Very friendly service, too. Prices quite fair given the high quality of the food. I shall be eager to return to le Cheri.
Terrific service, great recommendations on wines, excellent food - our favorite restaurant in Philly.
I was there for dinner and arrived late (10:30) but the staff was very nice about it (basically being the last table) and accommodating. The food was excellent, the building is beautiful and the service was top notch from beginning to end. Highly recommended.
We wanted to enjoy a special night out with fine dining in a nice atmosphere with all that entails, and we found it in the friendly confines of Le Chéri. Hannah took great care of us in a professional yet caring and friendly manner. The sazerac to start was the best I have ever had. The snails on their clever crockery were delightful without the heavy garlic; the steak was well conditioned in French au poivre sauce and just right. My wife’s ravioli squash starter was delightful with the fresh pop of caviar and the quenelle of fish entre was delightfully light and savory. The wine selections by the glass were perfect and, yes, French. Our table was removed from the full restaurant as we wanted, so we enjoyed everything about this great find of a new special choice in restaurants for us.
Eight of us had a very nice dinner last night. My Onion soup was ok but my sweet bread was superb. Everyone enjoyed their escargot served in a fanciful snail shaped plate. Beef bourguignon, Dover fish, baked Alaska and macaroons were excellent. Service was excellent and atmosphere very cozy.
A wonderful quiet Saturday brunch with my husband. Washington Oysters with Huckleberries were amazingly fresh and delicious. This is our favorite place for brunch, lunch and dinner.
Excellent. The food was delicious; and my weakness: real French bread - not all these fake attempts at Whole food, au Bon Pain, Metropolitan, Le Bus, even Le Pain Quotidien which has sank to preprepared bread - soft baguettes for American taste I guess...
Absolutely delicious. Everyone at the table raves about their meal.
Probably the best sweetbreads I've ever had--lightly crisped, with a veal jus with chanterelles. I hope to find it on their menu again!
The best food in the city with the finest ambiance and serenity that allowed 4 old pals to speak and hear each other!
What a wonderful staff. Extremely knowledgeable, smiling and fun.
Made for a 10 star evening
