As ever, a memorable experience. I will return next week with several friends for another event.
The escargot are so overpowered by the flavor of the sauce you can barely taste them. The sauce was good to dip the bread in it but too much for the dish. The bouillabaisse was good but a bit too thick for my liking, tasted more like tomato paste than the flavors of the seafood. My son’s steak was cooked perfectly medium rare but had a lot of fat in it. The fries were heavenly and so was the bread. Service was good!
This is a local restaurant for us, and enjoy it very much. However my husbands meal was not so good. He had the Steak Frittes, and the meat was tough and not good. .
Le Chat Noir is a perfect place for Saturday lunch to catch up with friends. The menu has quite a bit of variety and everything was fresh and delicious. I plan to return soon.
Very gracious and helpful staff. Much welcomed assistance for an elderly, cane-wielding dining partner. A very pleasant experience.
Very noisy. Next time will be on a weekday, not weekend. Maybe quieter at 8p rather than 7:30p.
Charming, quiet, delicious. A hidden gem. Wonderful menu selections. Very attentive, without being hovering, service. Tin ceilings add to the ambience.
Steak had little flavor. Broth on onion soup was too thick... tasted unauthentic.
Always superb service and delicious take on traditional French food with a satisfying and approachable wine list.
Always a wonderful choice; delicious food and wonderful ambiance make this a family favorite.
Excellent meal, terrific ambiance. Highly recommended.
We live in Chevy Chase and are lucky to have LCN as a neighborhood restaurant. The food is consistently good, so is the service. It is a great place for celebrations or just for a night out.
Tables are jammed beside each other, food isnt the best. Taste is great but amount of food comparing to price is terrible. But it's a French restaurant, what to expect!
An excellent meal and a charming ambiance. Our guests loved it!
I lived down the street 10 years ago and this was my first experience here. Holiday 4 course menu for a great price and amazing meals! Can't wait to go back!
The food is always terrific at Le Chat Noit but their holiday special menus are simply extraordinary. Hard to choose what to have. The combos are innovative, delicious and beautifully presented. We often make 'new friends' with the next door table as we rave about our choices!
Very nice neighborhood french restaurant. They do a wonderful job cooking chicken, pork, bouilliabiase - everything we've had there is great. Very friendly - smaller restaurant. It's become a go-to restaurant for us.
As always, lovely ambiance, good food, good service. Excellent bouillabaisse and beef bourguignon.
We made a reservation for an early dinner before a performance. The staff was very attentative; we enjoyed a leisurely meal and made it to the performance with time to spare. We were very pleased with our experience.
Usually have a good meal here. Beef B not up to standard-was very salty and served on a bed of unappetizing pasta. Would not order again.
It was a lovely celebration for my mother’s birthday. The waitress was amazing and the food was delicious.
We’ve been going back for 12 years and it’s always worth it!
The owners/management are very solicitous of patron's experience. Service response. Meal was excellent. Never had a poor meal at this establishment. Rate it highly.
Food a cut above. Cramped seating area with tables on top of each other. Our appetizers got lost in the shuffle so we were comped dessert.
Food at Le Chat Noir is always exquisite. Their special event menus are fresh, clever, inventive and delicious. We go to every prix fix event they offer and are never disappointed.
I have been eating at Chat Noir for many years with friends and family. Everyone has always their meal.
It is a place I will continue to visit.
Disappointed and annoyed. Two of us went for a special anniversary. Now, I'm not a picky person, but we found the service to be indifferent at best (we didn't even get a wine list, and it's a wine bar!), the food dry, lukewarm and underseasoned (you would be better off scrubbing dishes with the duck than trying to eat it with the butter knife that was provided), and the ambiance grating. The dining room upstairs is painted entirely orange with a very bright chandelier that forced me to spend half the meal using my hand as a visor.
The tarte au midi was the best dish I had, but I was too busy being saddened by my companion's genuine attempt to be happy with his duck and brick of polenta to really enjoy it-- but I gave half of it to him.
There are a zillion new, inventive restaurants in this city that would happily take your money, and I would suggest giving it to them instead.
Comfort food. Not so comfortable setting. I love the menu, food, and neighborly bonhomie. Noisy, crowded dining room detracts from overall ambience, but reasonable prices and attentive service offset. As a routinely single diner, I have never felt slighted or disadvantaged here. Kudos to staff for respecting diners equally.
A very good restaurant with good food and service.
Their lunch specials are the way to go - 2 courses for roughly $27. French onion soup (additional $2.00 but worth it) and the cod were very tasty!
Wonderful service. Great food. Prices a bit high for a neighbourhood restaurant. It lacks a cocktail menu and a proper bar. But the wine list is very fine. Highly recommended.
Great food, and great vibe. The staff was awesome, as well!
This is my go-to restaurant, especially when I have guests in town. The food and the service are consistently goo, even when, for example, a water main breaks!
If you're looking for corner bistrot food at a reasonable price with professional service, this is a great place. Three course prix fixe dinner is $42. Good wines can be had for $40-$50 a bottle.
This was my first time eating here, met a friend for lunch, and it was very good food!
It was a spontaneous night out with my wife. The dining experience was perfect.
Everyone at Le Chat Noir is very kind and welcoming...however, I was pretty frustrated with the restaurant. The quality of the food did not match the price at ALL, and I felt annoyed by how gimmicky the entire experience was.
The food was delicious, the drinks were fabulous, and the service was exceptional. My friends and I had the best time drinking wine, enjoying multiple courses, and the atmosphere was perfect. I would come back to this place again and again and again.
Great lunch. Wait staff was spread thin but everything came off just fine.
