The only things that reminded me of France was the price and portion size... all around average experience.
Wonderful French atmosphere. Brought back many memories of the time I lived in France! Great, creative menu selections that feature unusual and local fare prepared in an interesting and flavorful way. Great service and wine selections as well. A 'must try' if you are looking for a lovely dining experience in the Bristol/Portsmouth/Tiverton/Warren area.
Delightful little French restaurant with genuine French cuisine, quiet and understated ambience, nice place for cocktails, salads, desserts, or meals. I was grateful to find a place in Bristol, RI that isn't a hyped-up pub or frenzied seafood place. This is a great place to go on a date or meet up with a friend you haven't seen in a while to catch up. People seemed to be having fun but not noisily. You could shop all the cute little stores around downtown Bristol and then just go there for a relaxing glass of wine and an appetizer. Service was prompt and good-natured but unobtrusive; none of the fakey tics that chain restaurants trying to be upscale have. The menu was limited but had all the items you'd expect in a decent French restaurant. I had steak frites and my companion had coq au vin. While it was not the absolute best French cuisine of my life, it was more than acceptable and I was pleased. Good wine choices, excellent coffee, to-die-for homemade ice cream. Do not make the mistake of ordering just one scoop! We had a great time and I can't wait to go there again.
I cannot believe that we did not know about this outstanding establishment. We had our first dinner this past Saturday and we have already recommended it to several friends. We will be back soon!
Pleasantly surprised at our visit. Made reservations on line, showed up early for a cocktail and had a pleasant conversation with the bartender, Christen was wonderful, within the hour we were at our table ordering salad, appetizers and asked that they space our servings out, which was done, then our dinners. All of their offerings were excellent! We were so pleased that we ordered desert to top off our dinner, apple crisp and chocolate bread pudding. Looking forward to a return visit!
Le Central continues to be a real gem in the East Bay. A nice, basic French menu - diverse wine list, terrific kitchen, nice wait-staff and very reasonable prices. A great place for lunch or dinner.
Went on a very slow evening but service was still attentive without being intrusive. Food was excellent, perhaps a little pricey but that was expected by looking at the menu. The cassoulet brought back memories of my French Canadian grandmother......
New favorite spot for brunch. Dinner is always a treat, brunch is outstanding. Great menu, great service, such a great little French restaurant.
We have been to Le Central several times and each time has been terrific. The service is great. The menu, although seemingly 'limited' offers many options, especially when specials are added.
Our food was fresh, hot and delicious. We love the French flair of the menu although it's not soley French.
the been bourginon, salmon nicoise and onion soup were all spectacular. The hot french bread was perfect.
We love everything about this restaurant and Bristol is lucky to have it there!
The best coq au vin I recall having.
Love this place.
Wish I had more opportunities to return to Bristol just to try more dishes.
New Year’s Eve
As always, we had Avery good meal and a very nice time.
La Centrsl had A soothing atmosphere, friendly service, excellent food and presentation by the chef, and help was very attentive To our needs
I LOVE THIS RESTAURANT. ALWAYS SO PLEASANT. EXCELLENT STARR, SO NICE AND FRIENDLY....AND PROFESSIONAL. AND, JESSE IS GREAT!
Delicious food & Outstanding service. Quite place with a nice intown location.
Restaurant was very busy and noisy due to holiday parties.
Server was very attentive
I had chicken sandwich and the chicken was gristly.
My friend had a BLT sandwich and she was happy with it.
Interesting salad featuring shrimp and avocado, tasty enough to order again. Swordfish special was as moist and tasty as could be, served with perfect green beans. Pavlova with lemon curd and fruit made a nice dessert. Pleasant and attentive service.
We frequent Le Central for week night "close the kitchen" Holidays. You cannot beat Jamie's cooking, he turns out classic, savory and satisfying French Bistro meals at a wonderful price. Save room for dessert!
Charming, high-quality offering of French cuisine in Bristol. If we lived in the area we would be regulars.
Second visit in 3 weeks, the food is outstanding, service is great prices are reasonable. So lucky to have this restaurant so close
Gone by on many occasions but never noticed. Used a coupon this time, but expect to return with or without one often from now on.
Great food, great drinks and great service. Everything at Le Central is outstanding. Startviff with a Smash, followed by the cold shellfish platter, then the Steak Frits, salmon, or the beef bougnigen.
Service was mediocre. Ordered Beef Bourginon, Julia Childs would have been disappointed!!!
First visit 4 people 2 had fair meals; 2 of us ordered boeuf bourguinon, which was nothing more than some medium cooked beef pieces thrown on top of vegetables and potatoes, not the classic, long-cooked dish French food lovers enjoy (menu described a72 he cooked short rib which it was not). Knowing French food and other places to get it, we will not return.
This was our first experience at Le Central. We won coupons at a School One fundraiser. I made a reservation from my cell on the road--worked very well. We were the first ones to arrive at 5pm and informed our server that we had 45 minutes before catching the ferry to Prudence Island. She was diligent in asking the chef if our choice from the menu would be ready in time. We had an excellently prepared dinner of Moroccan Chicken-presentation was lovely! The French music playing softly in the background created an ambiance that transported me back to a restaurant in Paris many years ago. Can't wait to return to try lunch/brunch and dessert-we didn't have time for dessert! Have already told two friends about our experience.
Food was good, Ambiance for a Sat. pm was slow and not very festive. Better places to go in area with more lively ambiance. Poor Savignone Blanc choices. Staff was friendly.
Superb meals enjoyed by all three people with different food selections. Well trained waitress was great compliment to the atmosphere. Thanks.
Great little spot, always a great meal, probably the best food in town and one of the best French spots in RI. Looking forward to my next meal!
Love this bistro. Food and service was high quality. Ambiance was average... very quiet and think Parisian music with some lanterns as hip factor would liven the place up. Don't think Bristol has a hip factor though with no disrespect. Maybe post labor day is mello...will return!
Just as we expected, had been there a long time ago and this food was absolutely delicious, quiet to have an enjoyable conversation with our friends. Desert was awesome too! Will definitely go back worth the drive and every penny!...
Always outstanding! Start off with Mojito and the Smash. For appetizers it was a first time Sakonnet lobster bisque and the Tuna Ceviche is always fresh and plentiful. For main entrees it was the special Swordfish (great) and the Steak Friets is always fresh and excellent. To wrap it up is bread pudding and the 3 ice creams served together. Be there. Jack the server was outstanding! Thank you!
Le Central never disappoints. Menu has something for all. The atmosphere is casual and quiet, and the service is top notch. Love the olives and bread which arrives to enjoy before the meal. Always a wonderful experience!
Outstanding! Started off with drinks, get their Mojito and the Smash. Get 2! Next was the Plateu Grande (raw bar) that was great. The entrees of Duck confit and Lamb were equally perfected. Finished with turtles, ice cream and bread pudding. Can’t wait to go back!
Fresh hot quality food
Friendly helpful staff
Nice atmosphere spent 2 1/2 hours in quiet conversations
We had eaten at Le Central for lunch several times, always enjoying the mussels served in a cast iron crock. Mussels were not on the menu the first time we came for dinner, so we started, after very pleasant drinks, with onion soup, a nice rich broth with the onions and the perfect amount of cheese - gooey enough without being messy. The green salad which we split was just enough, knowing what was coming: the grilled lobster with green beans, fingerling potatoes, and beet chunks. The lobster was halved for easy removal of the tail, and the claw meat had been removed and placed atop the tail meat. The lobster was moist, and perhaps the tastiest we had ever experienced. The highlight dessert was cherry marscapone tart reminiscent of cheesecake. One scoop of salted chocolate ice cream (we could have opted for two) was a fine finish for a delightfully memorable meal
Service throughout our meal was pleasant and perfectly timed. We look forward to a return visit soon.
For a slightly small French bistro menu, it's the best place to go in RI. It's not a high end place, it's just a very casual spot that offers great options with great service.
Our entire party was very impressed, we'll all go back, and can't imagine there's a weak link anywhere in their menu.
Our server, Susan was superb and professional, exceptionally well-mannered and also fun. We'll definitely be back!
Wonderful meal and service but a/c issues..it was extremely humid and, even though the a/c was on, doors left open..even though we asked them to close them..our friend, with asthma was having a difficult time..
Food and service was good. No air conditioning! Small but good selection of entrees and wines. Great French bread.
Excellent brunch with a couple of girlfriends. The Eggs Benedict and the Dutch Pancake were both delicious.
