Le Bistro Tahoe
This is one of our favorite places, especially for special occasions. This one being our 51st Anniversary celebration. While we are happy that business was good, they were absolutely slammed this time with many customers. As a result the noise level was excessive, and both food preparation and service suffered, from course arrivals to final check. We felt for the staff.
Le Bistro was absolutely charming. Food was excellent, home baked bread delicious. The wine list is very extensive with a fine offering of Bordeaux and Burgundies. The staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome and appreciated. I will certainly dine here again and strongly recommend it.
Incline jewel. Best dining experience in town. We highly recommend this special spot for gourmet dining.
We were celebrating a birthday. The service was perfect. The food was amazing. Highly recommend making a reservation for a special dinner.
AMAZING!!! Great food, great chef (changes it up and makes great food exciting), great service (staff is so gracious), sat outside with the lights and nature!
We had the prix fixe meal: the soup, appetizers, salads were excellent, beautifully plated. Regarding main courses: one of our party had filet minon which was cooked exactly to order (medium rare) and delicious. The coq au vin was quite bland, lacked flavor and not up to par with the earlier courses. The coquilles St. Jacques was very good. The chef's added bonus of a small basket of puffed potato wedges was delightful. Dessert choices were wonderful: the small bites of dessert selection were delicious and an excellent conclusion to the meal, as was the small cheese plate accompanied by thin apple slices.
Ambiance is wonderful at this restaurant! Service was superb! Would go again, particularly for a special occasion, but would skip the coq au vin.
We love this place andhave for many years back to the original owners. This time, the food was as good as ever and as we have grown to expect.
The let down was the service. We have never had poor service in our many times eating here so it was a surprise, something we never expected. I don't know if it was due to their outside seating, it didn't seem like they were too busy. It took rather long to get our main course and took forever to get our bill.
Another service item that started our evening off on the wrong foot was the people at the table next to us came in and were seated after us yet they received everything from drinks to dessert before us. received menus before us and ordered before us...not good.
Hi Timothy, I'm sorry the table next to you got menus, drinks, ordered ahead of you - that is an uncharacteristic oversight on our part and I'll discuss it with my staff, including getting the bill to the table more promptly. Chef David said a couple tables ate more quickly/ordered fewer items so their entrees were due and pushed yours back. Timing everything right is something we work so hard on, so please know we take your comments to heart, and we'll continue to improve! Regards, Liesl
We travel to Tahoe one to two times a year and just discovered this gem! The food and service was excellent. The wine by the glass could be more creative. I recall only one Chardonnay that was on the weak side. Chardonnay is a popular wine and there could be better, by-the-glass options. That's constructive feedback, not a compliant. Wonderful restaurant. We'll make it a definite stop on future trips. BTW, we stay at the Welk Resort in Northstar, so from there it is a trip...but well worth it.
This is a fantastic little restaurant in Incline Village. The staff, everyone, was kind and personable. The food was soo delicious!! We will be back very soon.
Very cozy French restaurant with a knowledgeable sommelier. We had chosen a particular wine, but asked about others at that price point. She recommended another on the menu for less. Very few French restaurants still serve Coq au Vin, so another treat. Waitstaff were very friendly and eager to please. All in all, a very pleasant evening.
Always a great meal, and tonight was no exception to the rule.
As always the food never disappoints. Hats off to the chef who know how to prepare real French food. My husband especially loves the escargots at Le Bistro! I had the coquilles St. Jacques which were cooked to perfection. Liesl's bread and desserts are to die for. If you are in Incline Village, I highly recommend you make a reservation at this quaint and great restaurant.
Le bistro has been my favorite special occasion restaurant for many years. My return visit this summer lived up to my expectations, and then some. Lobster soup is worth the extra money, and duck breast was best I’ve had anywhere. My guest ordered the pre- fix menu. We shared some of the items and I added another appetizer and salad. Plenty of food for two people. This meal was a highlight of our trip to Tahoe.
The beat meal - year after year. Ate here 2 nights in a row this trip up- no place better.
Chef David does a great job
Great meal. Lots of choices. Lobster bisque was a delicious start to the meal. The pork entree had a fabulous sauce. Service was very attentive. A nice relaxing evening.
The food is wonderful and the service is astonishing. Not a cheap place, but outstanding.
We were visiting Tahoe July 2016. Le Bistro was recommended by a friend and we had a memorable visit. Excellent food, excellent presentation and exceptional service.
We came back to town this week (July 2019) expecting to be wow’ed again but were disappointed.
In short, bad experience, we won’t be back.
Although the food was good, the service and the whole process of food delivery was a failure. I must say that the floor staff was very friendly and full of smiles but were poorly trained and confused.
The food was slow to come out and our server abandoned us half way they the meal never to be seen again ( a large party came in and I guess she was overwhelmed but after she served the salads, we never saw her again.)
After we finished our dinner, the chef came out to ask how everything was, so I told him honestly, that we were not happy. I was polite but when I told him of our experience, he got mad and stormed off.
Honestly, if you can’t handle criticism, don’t ask!
I overheard one of the servers say that a while back, the sommelier bought the restaurant from the previous owner which would explain the change.
Bottom line, if all you care about is food, give it a try, the food was good. If you are looking for a nice evening without hiccups, excuses or mishaps, I would not recommend.
Le Bistro has been one of our favorite restaurants for special occasions, birthdays and anniversaries over the years. We’ve always had exceptional experiences, but unfortunately, our latest experience was disappointing. Between poor service and the slow kitchen, this last visit did not meet our expectations.
The food was certainly delicious, but I would not say worth the price, and given the lack of service, was not a good value.
We are so sorry about your experience. We had a new server we thought was capable get almost all the orders wrong which created a horrible domino effect for the kitchen and the front of the house. It threw everything off the rest of the evening and it was disastrous and embarrassing. Finding capable staff has been unbelievably difficult. We would be happy to refund your meal or send you a gift certificate- this was a really tough night at a restaurant known for amazing food and service.
Chef David and staff do everything to make dining at Le Bistro memorable.
Such a hidden gem. Quaint, cozy and we felt like we were tucked in a corner of Paris. The food was classic French and every bite was so flavorful. Service was wonderful. Our waitress was so sweet and we enjoyed chatting with her about her life back in Romania. The best me meal we had all trip.
Le bistro is a local gem & a foodire’s dream. We would drive 20 min from mid mountain every visit to Tahoe ‘s incline Village.
It has all the traditions of a French bistro but somehow with proper balance of lightness. Dishes are seasonal selection with local fresh produce. It’s divine Desert plate is crafted with passion of their pastry chef Liesol - the petite portions of each desert are like little gems on your plate and made to surpass your expectations just like our dinner.
Btw, their wine selection is awesome.
Fantastic food and service. David keeps making the restaurant better and better!
Service food ambiance all outstanding!!!
As always, excellent. Always in the top 2-3 at the North end of Lake Tahoe.
Our occasion was VACATION! The food was awesome. Portions were either right size or huge. We weren’t rushed at all. My wife and I sampled each other’s entree. We agreed that her coq au vin was the best we ever had, while my scallops were right up there too. She also had the snails which she also rated about the best she ever had.
It’s too bad we found le Bistro on our last night, because we would have loved to go back again. Oh well, now we have another reason to come back to Tahoe.
Wonderful service, food and ambience. Wine pairing was great. We will be back.
Had high hopes but when I entered the restaurant during primetime weekend hours and it was largely empty, I was worried. Unfortunately, the food did not live up to expectations while the prices were still lofty. Service was weak.
Mr Kipley, Sorry to disappoint you... You are welcome to call me and to be more specific about your dining experience . Clearly yours is not what others have been glowing about! BTW, you left your coat here. Thanks David Blair
Great French restaurant, classic simply good ingredients resulting in fresh wonderful dishes.
Le Bistro is by far our favorite restaurant in all of Lake Tahoe, and frankly it's the best restaurant in Lake Tahoe (and there are many excellent restaurants). The ambiance is wonderful and cozy, the staff is amazing, the menu is fascinating and the food superb. It's an experience that you won't get anywhere else in Lake Tahoe.
Dave and his staff are the best. You can tell they truly care, from top to bottom, that their guests have a great time. It shows. The best!
Le Bistro is a hidden treasure in Incline Village. It is truly a fine dining experience. The food is consistently amazing and the service is friendly and fun. This is not a stuffy kind of place. Do not miss the Grand Marnier Souffle. It is an elegant ending to a perfect meal!
An unequaled experience! While doing a home exchange in Crystal Bay, we wanted to go out to a special place for our 40th Anniversary dinner. My wife is a foie gras fan, but foie gras is now illegal in California. Being in Nevada, we had the opportunity to enjoy foie gras for at least an evening.
It was a quiet evening, and our server, Allison, gave us exceptional personalized service the entire evening. I'm sure that all the food is excellent at Le Bistro Tahoe, but I will review our items.
Asparagus soup: A very nice palate-awakener. Just a tiny bit of "pop" and very full flavored.
Crab Salad: Being from the Bay Area, we are used to the tiny shrimp salads. This crab salad had full flavor, a lot of crab, and minimum filler. A nice palate-cleanser before the entree.
Seared Foie Gras: One of the most wonderful foie gras we've ever tasted. A very large piece, dressed with some interesting fruit, arugula, and more.
New York Steak special: One of the ways to tell the quality of a restaurant is how they handle errors. I ordered my steak medium, and it came out pretty rare. As soon as I mentioned it to Allison, she brought it back to be brought to my preferred doneness. The chef (forgot his name) came to our table and personally apologized. There was no need for the personal apology. Mistakes happen. But it showed the level of caring by all the people in this restaurant. The re-done steak was returned to our table in about 5 or 6 minutes. This time, cooked to perfection.
Coquille St. Jacques chicken: My wife declared the dish one of the best chicken dishes she had ever tasted.
Desert: We chose the cheese plate, a more traditionally French desert than sweets. It was the perfect ender to an extremely enjoyable Anniversary dinner. They even placed a cute "Happy Anniversary" chocolate with the cheese.
Summary: These people care! They deserve your patronage. We will definitely return when we are in Tahoe again.
My husband and I celebrated our anniversary here last Friday night. We both ordered the five course menu with wine pairing. Each course was excellent and the wines were paired perfectly with the flavors! My husband ordered lamb and I ordered beef Wellington for our main courses. The chef absolutely outdid himself. The food was perfect. The service was also great and the ambience was very romantic. We would highly recommend this restaurant.
Delicious and creative food. Always a pleasure to dine at this neighborhood gem.
We went to Le Bistro for a fancy date while at a marriage retreat. The food was spectacular, the ambience a perfect balance between formal and relaxed, the servers were delightful. I highly recommend going for the 5 course meal, unless you're only planning to have soup and salad. If you order an entree and dessert, it's cost efficient to just do the whole thing, and well worth the price for all. We will be going back if we're ever in the area! Hats off to the chef!
Wonderful meal personally prepared by Chef, David Blair. I loved the Caesar salad and the duck breast. The service is prefect - friendly, attentive and helpful without being overbearing. The atmosphere is a quiet, old-style french bistro which makes conversation easy and intimate. We had a really nice evening and extend a special thanks to David for sitting and chatting with us for a few minutes at the end of our meal. See you soon!
I was quite worried that the change in ownership a couple years ago was going to have a negative effect on this restaurant, and I am very glad to be incorrect. The food and cozy atmosphere are the same high quality as ever, which makes this my second favorite French restaurant in the world (the first is in France).
Great place to have a very nice dinner. The hostess and server, Allison, was superb! David, the owner, is a fine cook that has mostly kept the original owner's style intact. Unfortunately, I chose a strip steak that was on a daily special in lieu of a very nice filet that is on the regular menu. Should have known better. The lobster bisque was to die for as were the escargot. Bread and pastry are baked on site by a very good pastry chef (David's significant other). Nice, cozy restaurant where you aren't rushed.
