Food prepared at Le Baratin is indeed classic with a modern twist. Classic in a sense of ‘old school’: our sauces are all made in-house, with a veal-based stock. These days, that is very rare. Jean likes the good old way of preparing food - truly, the proper way! Moreover, there is not a bistro in France that doesn’t serve at least 2 out of the 3 desserts we offer: Tarte Tatin, Mousse au Chocolat, and Creme Caramel.
For lunch, the Croque Monsieur is a must-have. French peasant, or street food, is uniquely reinvented here.
Our wine list is mid-priced and extensively curated from France; we offer the best value for the best price. Or, try any of our other cocktails!

I met a friend for another birthday dinner at Le Baratin and fantastic as always.
Cozy atmosphere, great food and friendly service. I will definitely go back!
Always an amazing experience! Love the food, love the people. :)
As always, everything was perfect. The service is professional and friendly. The food never disappoints. This is our go-to gathering spot when we are in town.
It was a perfect evening to dine on the patio. Le Baratin's prix fixe menu is so great, because the meal comes together in perfect portions. We started with the dip plate (and both the homemade boursin and baba ganoush were excellent) and the daily special of brandade was great too: I think it is a perfect addition to the fall menu! For mains we had the daily fish and the vegetarian tart - both just delicious. Great service and an interesting wine list - such a nice way to spend the last Sunday evening of summer. Highly recommend!
Excellent food and wine. Definitely will return!
Great service and food
Excellent all around. Food, service, value, ambiance. 10/10. Can’t wait to go again.
The food was amazing and the service was helpful and friendly. I will absolutely be back.
Lovely little restaurant. Excellent food and service.
Superb food and wine selection. I felt like I was dining in a restaurant in France.
So happy to find this little gem, and it is open Mondays! Warm, attentive service. Creme brulee and 3 cheese tart were memorable. Great value. Highly recommend!
amazing food, feeling home MERCI!! higly recommend
Had a wonderful time!! Ryan is a great server and the steak frites were fantastic!
Easily the best French food in the city, and the servers are always welcoming and attentive.
Charming service, delicious food, great wine list
The best in Toronto. The staff is great, attentive and very friendly. Their food is to die for!
The service at Le Baratin is a rare find. Pascal is a gem. Waitstaff is consistent. Guests are treated like regulars whether you were there last week or two years ago. And the food is outstanding. Basic French bistro fare, always excellent.
Very good quality! Everything was delicious! Good prices.
The food was good, but our waiter was great. Had a great time.
Such delicious food!!! Wow!!!! What great cocktails and service too. Thank you so much. Will definitely be back. if they have escargot on special I highly recommend!
Excellent food and service. Always a great meal. Never disappointed
The food was very good. The service started off slow (literally 18 minutes before menus were presented) but improved as the evening went on.
We were assigned very uncomfortable seats (red patio slated chairs intended for short term seating, not for dinner) outside but we made due. I highly recommend a cushion to make the experience more enjoyable, or switch the chairs for the 2 black ones on the sidewalk meant for waiting patrons.
I would recommend the restaurant to others.
Giselle provided great service and was very friendly. Food was very good - classic neighborhood bistro food. Looking at menu, I almost thought that I was back in Paris. Wine list provided good value for price.
I love this restaurant. The food is consistently great. The service is on point and they have really nice touches on their curb side patio, ie nice dividers and herb planters.
fantastic place, excellent food and service. Highly reccomend
Authentic French bistro experience at very reasonable prices. High-end wine selection, again, without a high-end price. Example main course special: herb-stuffed pork loin wrapped in bacon. 2015 Saint Emilion Grand Cru for less $90.
Excellent value. Food very well prepared. Relaxed, simple ambience.
Wonderful dinner, and the 3 course menu is an excellent deal. We had the duck and the lamb and both were wonderful. Service was attentive and very friendly. Would happily return!
Perfect from the moment we sat down until the moment we left. Exceptional service, food, and overall experience.
Went to Le Baratin for the first time yesterday and I will definitely be back. Delicious food, outstanding service, and a cozy atmosphere.
A delight to be able to dine again at a beloved neighbourhood bistro. Le Baratin has never disappointed in the past, and our recent experience lived up to expectations. The food was as good as ever, and the service exemplary. Looking forward to our next visit.
Perfect, as always. Le Baratin is an absolute neighbourhood gem.
Classic well done frech fare. Excellent!
Streetside dining was unexpectedly fine in this vibrant small neighbourhood. We felt well taken care of and enjoyed our first meal out in ages with the 2-plate prix fixe at $42. The steak frites was really good, as was the charcuterie plate and duck rillettes appetizers that we shared. Lula across the street had gentle live music. Heavenly!
The Vol ete Vent was spectacular. The rack of lamb was so good there’s no possible way they could make any profit on it. Our waiter was bright and articulate and the food was prepared by a master. We will be back!
What a great experience. The food was delicious and authentic and the service staff was terrific. We would definitely go back!
Exceptional food and service in a local setting. Their dishes are Haute Cuisine….and truly deliver an experience.
All dishes excellent, tasty, friendly responsive service.
