French
Enjoy a taste of France at Le Baratin, 1600 Dundas West, with a unique menu and an enchanting atmosphere. Escape the bustle of Toronto in the morning with the delight of a homemade croissant, or take an imaginary plane in the evening with the culinary experience of our French inspired menu.
Food prepared at Le Baratin is indeed classic with a modern twist. Classic in a sense of ‘old school’: our sauces are all made in-house, with a veal-based stock. These days, that is very rare. Jean likes the good old way of preparing food - truly, the proper way! Moreover, there is not a bistro in France that doesn’t serve at least 2 out of the 3 desserts we offer: Tarte Tatin, Mousse au Chocolat, and Creme Caramel.
For lunch, the Croque Monsieur is a must-have. French peasant, or street food, is uniquely reinvented here.
Our wine list is mid-priced and extensively curated from France; we offer the best value for the best price. Or, try any of our other cocktails!

Tres Bien! Great food, the wait staff was super friendly and the atmosphere was welcoming. I didn't feel out of place, even though it was a very classy space.

We ate the “Frenchilious” prefixe menu and it was incredible! To start I chose the tomato and fennel soup, for main the beautiful Icelandic Cod on a bed of ratatouille, and for dessert, crème caramel. The staff are very friendly and very efficient. Je vous le recommanderais!

The steak and frites was phenomenal although the portion could’ve been a bit bigger. The poached pear was to die for and the server was just amazing. Very friendly and attentive. Will be back for the duck confit!!

Had a lovely time there, everything was great from the service to the ambience. You can taste the care that is put into every dish and the quality of the ingredients, my friend and I would highly recommend this place! Hopefully we will be able to visit them again, soon 😊

We were lucky enough to score a last minute reservation here for a pre-concert dinner. The last time we had french cuisine was in Paris months ago, and we were delighted with authentic, simple, full flavour beautifully executed elegant dishes.
Service was spectacular, they accommodated my keto diet with no issues. Lots of options for that!
The decor was charming and warm, but a wee bit more room would be ideal. They do what they can in a small cozy space.
We will definitely be back next time we're are in the city.
Merci Beaucoup!

This was a pleasant experience overall. The food was very tasty, however some dishes sat on the outbound counter too long while waiting for other dishes for the table to be ready to serve, resulting in a tepid meal. The plates should be warmed and timing needs a tweak. We'll try again.

This was a really lovely evening that came to us almost by mistake! When one of our favourites was closed, we tried Le Baratin and were pleasantly surprised! The restaurant is a wonderful, cozy, French bistro type place with a quiet but lively ambiance. The service was lovely and attentive, as well as talkative enough to make us feel right at home!

However, the best part was the food. Goodness, it was amazing. We started with the homemade dips with the homemade olive bread and it was to die for. The exact right amount for an appetizer. I had the mushroom risotto and my partner had the potato tart as main courses and they were both decadent and flavourful. I've never had risotto so creamy and well made, it was so, so good.

Dessert was lovely as well! We got the chocolate mouse and found that it was light and not too sweet which is just to my tastes.

Over all, a stellar experience! We'll absolutely be back :)

Staff (only two servers) were friendly and knowledgeable but understandably hard to get their attention when the restaurant was full.
Good food for a decent price. Excellent wine list. Our shared starter of house made Boursin and hummus was simple but excellent.

This is an excellent small restaurant. Food feels very authentically French and the Airbnb is lovely. Really quite different from bigger and busier play today. They also offer a quick note that it is appreciated. The food here is consistently good. We will be back!

Our group of 6, ranging in ages from 4-89, all had a fantastic time at Le Baratin celebrating my father's birthday. Service was warm yet professional and knowledgeable. Food was delicious, showing a deft touch, and the value quotient was excellent. Looking forward to a return visit - taking my wife here who was unable to make it.

Some of the dishes are spectacular.
The mushroom risotto, lentils with black cod and Croque monsieur are my favourites so far.
The beef with frites was tough and chewy. But I am not a huge meat eater anyways.
I would definitely go back.

My husband and daughter and I enjoyed our dinner at this cozy restaurant and would go back again. My only complaint was the type of music and the volume at which it was played, I found it irritating and distracting in this small restaurant.

Would've been a better rating if perhaps we'd received a complimentary drink or dessert due to it being our wedding anniversary. Hm, perhaps we've just been spoiled by other establishments for the past 10 years?
