Enjoy a taste of France at Le Baratin, 1600 Dundas West, with a unique menu and an enchanting atmosphere.
We offer 2 setting every night; The first dinner service from 5:30 through to 6:30 pm is a maximum of 2 hours dinner experience.
For BRUNCH we do not take reservation - walk-in only, from 10 am till 3:30 pm.
Take an imaginary plane in the evening with the culinary experience of our French inspired menu.
Food prepared at Le Baratin is indeed classic with a modern twist. Classic in a sense of ‘old school’: our sauces are all made in-house, with a veal-based stock. These days, that is very rare.
For Brunch, the Croque Monsieur is a must-have. French peasant, or street food, is uniquely reinvented here.
Our wine list is mid-priced and extensively

Fantastic experience! The food was great - especially the duck confit special. Our server was lovely, and made us feel so welcome. The ambience of the restaurant is perfect. Felt like we were in a bistro in Montreal.

We went there to celebraste our 5th year anniversary and we had a blast! From great service to amazing food. I’ve been looking forward to go to this place. Our apps were: beet salad which was very very tasty and soup, delicious as well! My main dish was the steak + frites (the steak was melting in the mouth) and my partner had the special of the day which was sirloin + mashed potatoes(he loved it as well). For dessert we shared an apple pudding with caramel sauce, it was very light on sugar - exactly I was looking for. Lastly, We had such a great time, and we appreciate all the reviews we read here before going, they did not disappoint. Merci Le Baratin!

Food was the absolute highlight of the night — everything that arrived on our table came with a beautiful aroma that had us salivating, everything was delicious. My husband who works in the restaurant industry was inspired by the Spinach Potato soup! Highly recommend

On a cool, rainy evening, Le Baratin was the best place to be. Having not been in many years, taking my fiancé for her birthday was a great idea. The pre-fixe menu price point is solid considering how expensive everything is in this city. Their menu is small which is a good sign for me as I find there is more time and respect taken for each dish. The food was plated simply, seasoned perfectly, and cooked wonderfully. Pisalidiere, escargot, lamb shank, duck breast, poached pear, apple tart. Each dish, comforting and delicious. The wine list is classic in style with only a few well priced picks by the glass. A solid cocktail selection and a few good beers round out the drink menu. The space is small, warm, and very charming. The place was packed but didn't feel stuffy. Just a tad loud but not intrusive. I highly recommend going for those who want traditional French dining at an affordable rate. Bravo!

I really enjoyed the experience of being there - the cheese appetizer, wine, service and ambiance was all lovely. The steak frites dish was quite disappointing - too much sauce, strange texture, and the sensation of bone pieces. It wasn't great - but I'd be willing to go there again for the vibe and try a different dish next time. It could be just a great place for wine and apps.
Le BaratinResponded on November 24, 2024
Hello Michel and thank you for your review, and not so good rating. We're really sorry to hear about the steak you didn't enjoy, and quite surprised too as we've been serving the steak-frites with shallot sauce over the past 8 years, being our most popular dish. We never hear about ''bones'' as there is no bone in a piece of Sirloin. But we want to assure you that we're always ready to redo or change a dish that people don't like; It's just as simple as letting us know. Sorry for all this and hopefully we'll see you in the future for a better experience. PS: our shallot sauce is a staple at Le Baratin and one of the reason the steak-frites is the best seller.
