This restaurant closed down some time ago but still sends confirmation emails from their reservation system.
The Restaurant has closed. Even though I had s reservation.
I informed Open table at the time but no response so far
Restaurant is permanently closed. Hope someone does not make the same mistake as me and make reservations on the website which is still active and says nothing about being closed.
Once we were able to determine that the reservation name and the name on the restaurant are not the same- it was good. The pic of the restaurant that is posted is not the same as a the actual location, and the menu does not match what is actually served- but its still clean and they offered an extra app when we were there- which was nice.
It probably would have been great, had the restaurant not closed permanently!
This restaurant is closed
Great service and food was excellent. Would definitely go again.
It was very disappointing that this was had changed to Lazio instead of The East. I made reservations for The East. I missed Coco. The menu only had a few items that were previously on The East. I could have coped with the name change but not the change in the menu as there was no crispy shrimp. The East was also known for the delicious ginger tea and that wasn't available. Disappointed!
This place is just...o.k. Located in the old 'EAST' restaurant space, the new managers/owners kept all the old decore and furnishings. At first glance it looks just fine. But once we sat down and looked closer the furniture is dated and worn. The chairs and tables could have used some minor restoring as the edges show the wood where its been worn/roughed off. I think they even kept the same wall art?
We dined here on a Friday at 5pm and only one other table was there. Service was attentive - but the waitress seemed to be annoyed when my husband was asking her about the spice level of selected dishes. To make a long story short - almost every Asian dish is 'spicy'. There does not seem to be any flexibility from the kitchen to accommodate a delicate palate -- other than the hamburger. If the sauces are all made in-house, I would recommend there be an option for milder sauces - especially when the base dish itself is well prepared. For this reason alone, we probably won't return until we read future reviews that things have changed.
My husband ended up ordering the Schezuan chicken, with the sauce on the side and the waitress brought some soya sauce as well. Isn't quite the same to eat that dish with soya sauce. We both like schezuan and can take a little heat -- I tried a bit of the sauce, however it was too hot even for me. I ordered the curry duck with ramen noodles...very good with just the right amount of heat. Just a few too many noodles...but that's a minor point.
One final comment - this is concerning the male waiter/manager that night -- he was talking for a long time to the table next to us - and when another couple walked in to the restaurant....he merely turned to them and said to 'take a seat anywhere, someone will be right with you' then went back to his conversation. Really? That's not how to welcome patrons, especially if you want repeat or word of mouth business.
Two mains with two beers, tax and tip $50.
We arrive at this restaurant around 9:15pm on a Friday night and, to our surprise, we were the only guests in the place. We were seated and chose our menu items. We ordered the Korean Taco, Roti Cani, and Ginger Chicken Rice Bowl. All items came out in a timely manner and all were absolutely delicious, but portions were a bit small for the price paid. However, it was just enough to fill up myself and my guest. Our service was fabulous all through the meal, however, when we had finished eating, it took the waiter almost 15 mins to clear our plates, as he was on the phone. I finally had to wave him down to give us the bill. Although this did annoy me, I would hope that this was just a one off.
Food is great, nice ambiance, and minus the waiter being on the phone, service was top notch. Not sure why the restaurant is not busy, although my guess is the hidden location behind a Tim Horton's. I'm sure some advertising/marketing and good signage will solve that and this place will find itself very busy very soon. I will definitely be going back.
The food was delicious, the waitress came coming around AFTER the bill was paid and kept interrupting our conversation. We felt uncomfortable after 30 mins and left.
Very quiet not many people know its open yet. Amazing guide great service at a cheap price for your portion
Food was very tasty but portions are a little smaller than at the old location.
Super quiet place. Ambience was not good enough to bring us back from the south side. Super good food. Server was fairly decent. A little bit distant.
Missed old menu items like ginger beef and ginger chicken as appetizers and the Chocolate Overdose cake. Restaurant ambiance did not compare to old location at Christy corner.
Our waitress was a 10 out of 10! Outstanding personality and excellent server! We will try the restaurant again because of her:)
