Lavo - NYC Ratings and Reviews
The food was really good and the portions were good as well. The interior was beautiful, and it felt comfortable. We went on a Friday night with friends and the music was really good as well. I had a cocktail and it was really good, and the boys got beers and said they were tasty as well. Overall, we had a great night, with great food/drinks and company.
Even with the reservation the kep us waiting for 30 mint and every time I asked them about the time it will take to get the table they says that the don’t know and we will be served shortly.
I spoke with resturant manger and he said it normal to wait that long in the resturant even if we have a reservation.
Over all, the reception and the manger has very bad attitude and not organize at all.
It was our 4th year anniversary, I was recommended to try LAVO . It was dinner and drinks.maybe ice it all off with dessert. My lady and I decided to wrap the evening by requesting a take out bag & order dessert to go and ask for the bill - we received the takeout bag , finalized the bill and left the property. 20minutes later I realized that the dessert was not in the takeout bag. I called the restaurant to adjust the bill over the phone by requesting the dessert to be removed from the bill. I was placed on hold. Then I spoke to a gentleman named Ron Calucci a manager who said that Since i didn't wait for the dessert to arrive, and because we didn't wait -this was considered as leaving food behind. He said he did not have to remove this from the bill- but he'd do us the favor and adjust the bill. This really boiled my nerves. Now I will wait to see if this man will adjust my $150 bill.
The food was really OK , nothing special ! But we wanted to enjoy the place and the waiter was all the time pressuring us to order the food, and we wanted to drink more wine ! It was really uncomfortable ! The nutella dessert wasnt cold enough. The tiramisu was perfect.
This restaurant is in a great location, right in the middle of everything, close to Central Park and 4th avenue. The atmosphere is really young and hip. I understand a lot of famous people go there. Food was very good, quite a selection of different types of cuisines. However if you want a quiet, romantic restaurant, then perhaps this is not the best option for you.
Atmosphere was great! Our waitress was friendly and attentive. Music was popping. My husband and I were celebrating our bdays and anniversary. We had a great time people watching at the bar after dinner. I would recommend to friends, already have! Would go back for sure.
Service was acceptable but the beet salad, which two of us had, was inedible. Five in our party. Other three seemed satisfied but when you spend $300 for lunch the beet salad should be ok and they shouldn't charge you for a refill on your cokes and iced teas. Won't be returning.
