Lavo - NYC Ratings and Reviews
It was loud and busy but that was the charm. It was vibrant and this created a great atmosphere in the restaurant. Food was authentic and tasted great. Tried a Long Island iced tea and it was the best cocktail I have had in New York City.
Would recommend for those looking for a lively bar and restaurant.
I made the reservation almost a month in advance for the last night of restaurant week (February 9). I had made the reservation for 9 PM. We ended up deciding just to order off the regular menu instead of using the price fix menu. The food was amazing. The only thing I will complain about though is that we were not seated until 10:15. I understand that restaurant week means places will be more busy and crowded, but I believe an hour and 15 minute wait after even having a reservation is slightly ridiculous. Besides that, the food and experience was good.
I went during restaurant week.
I made reservations for 8:30pm, we arrived on time and didn’t get seated until about 10pm.
We all opted to do the Restaurant Week’s Prefixe. When the bill came, each order was about $12 over the amount stated for the prefixe. I didn’t even bother to argue of question it. It was my brother’s birthday day and I didn’t want to further be annoyed
The food was good
I don’t know if i would return here, i just wont go back during restaurant week.
I really enjoy Lavo - my only reservation has been the noise level - this evening the restaurant wasn't as busy so it was perfect. It can be exhausting to have a conversation when the restaurant is too loud... otherwise food and service were terrific! Also loved the restaurant week offerings!
Bad service- very rushed getting our food (bread before appetizers, entrees came out 3 minutes after our appetizers giving us barely enough time to take a few bites before our small table was cluttered with 5 plates). Once our food was there, servers seemed to disappear. We were pouring our own wine, couldn’t get more water, stacked plates stayed on our table for a long time. Poorly managed disaster. Too bad because the food was pretty good. Would have liked the service to match.
I was here catching up with a friend for restaurant week. Everyone working there made us feel so unwelcome, constantly rushing our courses and trying to take our plates. They even took our bread when our meal came...which I like to have the bread there! I had people ask me 10+ times if i was done with my food when I wasn't. Then finally, in the end, they told us we could stay as long as we wanted (after everyone had left and no one else was coming in". The food was ok, but bad for the price we paid. I could have made everything at home. Disappointed.
Lavo is an every day great Italian Restaurant. One of my every day favourites. It is fast furious noisy and you must book to get a table. Waiting staff are efficient food is always excellent and prices consistently moderate for this kind of restaurant. I thoroughly recommend Lavo.
I AM A FREQUENT GUEST HERE FOR LUNCH AND THE HOSTESS TREATED ME LIKE A RESTAURANT WEEK TOURIST. DESPITE MY RESERVATION I HAD TO WAIT AT THE DESK
AFTER THE STARTING CHECK IN PERSON SUDDENLY PUT A HORDE OF TOURISTS AHEAD OF ME. THE SEATING HOSTESS WAS ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE, PASSING BY AT LEAST THREE EMPTY BANQUETS AND IGNORING MY COMPLAINTS ABOUT A POOR TABLE. MY CLIENT'S STEAK WAS
BURNT TO A CRISP ALTHOUGH HE ORDERED MEDIUM RARE AND WE ENDED UP WITH THE
RESTAURANT WEEK MENU, WHICH I DIDN'T WANT. IF YOU ASK FOR A COFFEE REFILL THEY BRING YOU A NEW CUP FULL WHICH GUARANTEES IT WILL BE COLD AND IT WAS. TOTALLY AN EXPENSIVE BAD FOR BUSINESS EXPERIENCE.
Wanted to take my sons out to experience restaurant week. They love Italian and thought this would be a good fit. We were able to find something off the restaurant week menu for each of us. Food was good. Spaced out perfectly. Did not feel rushed even though it was getting busy. Waitress was very attentive to our table and the rest of her tables. Greatly appreciate it.
Terrible!n we had a reservation at 9:00 pm and when we got there they said they will text you cause our table wasn’t ready!
We waited there for 45 minutes to be seated. How that is possible? If you make a reservation is because the restaurant have to reserve your table there’s was a few people that have to leave.
Stay away from this restaurant.
Drinks terrible, food ok
