Food was excellent, along with great service. We happened to be sitting next to a very loud table though. Overall restaurant ambiance was nice.
We went to lavo for my birthday brunch and it was enjoyable. The food was amazing the waitress wasn’t very helpful and a bit slow but the food made up for it.
Muy buen ambiente para ir con amigos y querer fiesta!! Excelente para cumpleaños!!
Absolutely the worse, if not the worse dinner my wife and I have experienced! The noise level was so loud our waitress couldn’t take our order because of the loud music blasting! The staff was polite but so far backed up that the bus boy served our meals to us! The food i will say was excellent tasting- unless you’re 21 years old, dont mind just over teenage type atmosphere of kids dancing and carrying on while you’re eating! Then stay away. It was a horrible experience for dinner! Its a nightclub that serves over priced food
They did nothing except say Happy Birthday to the TWO women that we were celebrating.
I thought that odd.
Music was too loud and service was bad. I couldn’t hear my friends
Nice place! The drinks and food portions were kind of small for their price but the food tasted great!
8 pm reservation on a Friday night made same day (Lavo website said there were no tables available but we had our pick on Open Table). The restaurant was not full, albeit it was the day after Valentine's day, we waited about 15 minutes at the bar for our table. Contrary to other reviewers, the hostesses, waitstaff and bar staff were all extremely courteous, professional, and responded quickly to our requests. Tables were close proximity, but typical for NYC. Live dj played great music which for us was not at all too loud. Drinks and food were extremely tasty, but we found the portions to be small. Roasted Beet salad for $17 was not big enough to share; likewise the Baked Clams Oreganato $18 were the smallest clams I've ever seen; Filet Mignon $45 was cooked med rare as requested but a mere 2 sq inches (4 oz if that) so it was fortunate we supplemented with Sautéed Broccoli Rabe; Chicken Marsala $30 was as expected, which left us plenty of room left to fill up on the 20 layer red velvet valentine's day cake $17. We inquired about complementary passes to the nightclub, but they did not answer directly, just that the dance club did not open until 11:30. Total bill $260 (no wine, just cocktails) . I wouldn't say it was the best meal I've had in NYC, but the concept of "restaurant-nightclub" was fun.
A fun place with friends, a fabulous date nite and terrific food
Prompt Service. Awesome Energy. Very organized accomadations. Very memorable Valentines.
Made a reso for Valentine’s day with my girlfriend and it was great! There was a live jazz band in the downstairs club area and it was so romantic! Our waitress kinda sucked and forgot about us often, but the food is always bomb. We still had a great time!
As usually the food was amazing!
It's a shame they changed the garlic bread over the focaccia
Great food, cozy atmosphere. Loved it here! Order the meatball!
Waited over 45 reservation for set for 930 got seated at 1015
Food and service were good but the place was extremely loud. Hearing Conversation was difficult to impossible most of the time.
It was my birthday and couldn’t have picked a better spot. It landed during restaurant week and all menus were presented, so no pressure.
But even restaurant week menu had an option for everyone’s taste buds. The food was cooked perfectly and presented at a good time frame. The plates were a good size so it was really fulfilling and i liked that the dessert wasn’t given right away. It didn’t feel rushed, felt like we were given time to actually talk, enjoy the night and drinks. The dessert- oh, heaven! Definitely loved the Oreo zeppole. It’s not like the ones from fairs or festivals. Definitely worth it.
The server disappeared half way through the meal - service was just awful. We didn’t even get cutlery for certain dishes. Awful
Great staff! Very cool ambiance. Would recommend and will be back. Food was delicious as well
This place is always uplifting, fun, active and the food is extremely good! Great NYC vibe and gathering place.
Nice place for restaurant week. Apps tuna tartare and mussels outstanding! The lemon sole was good. Oreo zepole and my cheese cake delicious. Service was great! If hard of hearing sit in the back. Great choice
My waitress was phenomenal. My food was great, the bottle of wine was delicious. Overall it was a great experience. I will definitely be going back. 😊😊
Overcrowded with rushed service. Decent food but this is not the place to have conversation. You eat to the beat here and make it quick. Tables uncomfortably close to each other. Everyone there a tourist or from the suburbs. Nothing special about this place. Forget it.
It was a splendid evening at Lavo. It's a place to celebrate an event. It's a place where you feel you are having a party. You actually feel like the entire place is partying since they do a phenomenal and outstanding job of celebrating your special occasion for being there! The food was great and look forward to going back again!!
It's Okay overall. You can try out but I won't go back.
Food was bad. My pasta with truffle mushroom (don't remember name) got dried so fast and couldn't eat after half of the dish. cheese french fries was so average don't know even what to say - just as good as other french fries at any other random restaurant.
And every second there was another birthday, blinking lights and loud birthday songs out, eyes and ears both hurt.
Cocktail is the one I liked, something with strawberry.
I love italian restaurants but LAVO definitely doesn't deserve their popularity they have now.
My friends and I went to check out Lavo during restaurant week. For restaurant week items they were not stingy and the food was great. it did not taste like something being cooked in bulk that was out of the freezer like some other restaurants seem to do during this week. The food and drinks were great. We had a great time.
Lavo is a must attend restaurant. The food was incredible, staff was so pleasant and accommodating. Very attentive crew and overall made my experience a pleasant one. Mussels were delicious and the penne a la vodka didn’t miss a step.
Great food great service definitely going back
What a great place with a fantastic atmosphere and staff were 1st class
It was my first time at Lavo with my girlfriends who live in Dallas. We had a wonderful experience and loved everything about this restaurant: the food, service, ambiance. Maximiliano took very good care of us. We had been escorted to a table in the middle of the room but we wanted a more intimate space so that we could catch up and talk after not seeing each other for a long time, so we asked for a booth. He immediately accommodated us. He also suggested an excellent wine and we discussed the menu before ordering. We decided to do a tasting and ordered the large meatball to share (amazing!), the linguini and white clam sauce pasta (delicious!), and the brisket (melt in your mouth awesome). The restaurant has good "energy" and a fun atmosphere. I would like to return and go down to the nightclub. Definitely a keeper for a place to have an upscale dinner.
I had a great experience and staff was very good, one thing that bothered me was I specifically asked for something to be packed to go and the person taking our food was in such a rush he shook his head but did not actually take into account what I said for what I wanted packed to go. When I got home I was bummed to not have what I asked for.
Absolutley awful brunch and bellinis were absolutley undrinkable
My girlfriend and I went on a date and loved everything. We’ve always talked about going and since she loves pasta it was the perfect place! Great experience, food and all!
Overall the experience was poor.
We got moved out of our table because we were probably too slow to enjoy our dinner and they asked us to move to another table ...they gave us a free drink but honestly we were shocked by the behavior.
The service was poor. Server have an attitude and was not friendly
I will never come back to this restaurant
Went there on a Friday night for dinner for two with a girlfriend of mine. It was VERY loud, the music was loud the people were loud. It's not a place to go if you are going to catch up with someone or on a date, but still great energy and great for birthday celebration or group dinners. Now to the food, the portions are worth the price, good sized portions and big enough to share. We had the meatball to share and it was absolutely delicious and BIG, the Margherita pizza was horrible, please don't get it, you might as well go to the dollar pizza shop and i guarantee you it will taste better. The pizza was the only disappointment but everything else was delicious. The chicken masala was really good, the Carbonara as well . Very pleased with the portions.
Great food and great atmosphere! Their zeppoles are amazing
Love eating at Lavo. It is the best! I will recommend Lavo to friends and family.
Went to Lavo for NY restaurant week, the food was delicious, the menu offered a good selection. Service was fast and very attentive. Drinks were filled at once. I would definitely go back.
Excellent options on the Restaurant Week Menu. Everything super tasty and the attendance was impeccable.
What a special night I’m so glad my baby enjoyed her birthday dinner, the food was amazing! Thank you to the amazing staff! Overall pleasant experience! Will definitely be going again!
Food was good. Server didn't come by after food came to the table. Dessert (part of prefix) took longer than the main course. Seemed server stepped away and left us there. Had to ask another server for help. Overall food delicious.
