Lavo Ratings and Reviews
We had reservations and were told to sit at the bar and wait, so we did for 15 min. Bartender took order and never brought our drinks.
They finally sat us in a booth on the side and it was so jammed together, it was almost impossible to get in.
The bus boys and servers had a staging station directly behind us and after being bumped 20 times by shoes and hearing the staff makes “swishing” noises to each other, we literally took our food, boxed it up and left. It was extremely expensive for what we paid for and we will never be returning.
I had the octopus app and red snapper for main course - both were dry...the snapper was the worse of the two. On a better note, my wife's pasta was delicious. Long story short, don't order fish. I didn't say anything to the server - don't like to complain - and she was actually great. The overall ambience of the restaurant is also very good.
Not impressed at all. The venue is admittedly hot, and the crowd young and hot, but it’s a restaurant and if your going to act like one you need professional servers, greeters, chefs, not kids. We ate calamari, tender but bland, and the branzino, nicely served with crispy skin, but dry and no sauce in sight. Wine list ok. Don’t waste your vegas time.
This was an all-around terrible experience. We were sat 45 minutes after our reservation time, the food came out poorly cooked and incorrect and the service was slow and inattentive. Don’t put yourself on OpenTable if you’re not available for big parties (7) and can’t accommodate other events going on in your venue.
7:15 reservation but didn't get seated for an hour. Unorganized at the hostess stand. You could wait in line to talk to someone and they'd say, oh, you need to go talk to the other hostess, which had a separate line. Louie salad was gross and calamari wasn't as good as a basic pub but the meatball and pasta dish were good. So loud, we had to shout. So did the waitor.
When all other restaurants were full, Lavo was available. Apparently that's because they've decided to take a cue from the airline industry and over-book the available space. We showed up for our reservation, and the harried hostess said she'd text us when our table was ready. After waiting ~ 40 minutes, we checked again and she said there was only one party ahead of us.
We gave up. You should, too.
After spending just under $2,000 on a business meal, we went to the bar area to continue our discussion and for some people to have a night cap--we were a very light drinking business group. There were plenty of patrons seated at bar high tops, couches, and at the bar. Upon sitting our 11 people at one of the high tops, a woman came up to us and rather rudely informed us that she had closed out for the night as the bar was closed. We needed to go somewhere else.
As we were departing, several of us noticed other patrons being served drinks by the bartender. I asked to speak with the manager. He informed me the bar was closing shortly but we could get a drink from the bar. He even offered to get us a drink. However by that point several people were so turned off by how we were initially treated, that they wanted to leave...so we did.
Very disappointed. This was our 2nd time to Lavo. Head waiter was friendly. Food was very tasty. However check-in staff, escort staff and general servers were unfriendly--bordering on rude. There were no "hello's" or "thank you's". Just "follow me" directions. They sat us at a very small, uncomfortable table and walked away. It was clear they were more interested in helping younger clientele and not the Senior type participants. Our appetizers came late and within seconds of receiving our main course. When I challenged the general servers, all I got was shoulder shrugs. This will definitely be our last visit to this restaurant.
We were disappointed that several things people raved about to us were different. For example, everyone who recommended Lavo for brunch talked about the complimentary pastry basket. This was one of the things we were expecting. When we sat down, our waitress said it would be coming. Instead, we got a small coffee cake. When we asked about the pastry basket, she said the Chef must have decided to do something different that day. In addition, the menu on website showed avocado toast. However it wasn't on the menu that day we visited. We were only one of three tables so it isn't that it was busy and the restaurant ran out. The food we did end up getting was good but was not the overall experience we expected from all the reviews.
Bar is nice. The bar tender did an excellent job on our cocktails. We were seated right away. Our server was very energetic and kind. Manager stopped by to make sure we were doing ok through the meal which was nice. He even offered to have a special vegetarian potatoes made for me that I declined only Because I was so full.
The food was EXCELLENT. The complimentary bread is delicious.
Everyone at our table was thoroughly satisfied and we will definitely be back.
The food was outstanding! I am a big foodie and cooking is my jam, so when I go out for food I am always looking for a "couldn't have made it better myself" experience. I look for creativity, originality, and good pairings. I wanted italian, and I was pleasantly surprised. Plus the ambiance was awesome, good music and friendly staff. I don't do more than $$ and this restaurant was $$$, but it was a special occaision and totally worth it.
Our waitor was very polite and plesant. He answered all our questions and was a pleasure to have. The other staff around who was clearing our table were very very nice to speak with and accommodating! Adam ( i hope thats his name....lol spanish gentleman) who was clearing our table and speaking with us, was very informative and nice to talk to. Please send him our thank you!
So, I liked it so much on Thursday night, I went back again Friday night! That's saying a lot since there are so many restaurant options in Las Vegas.
We ordered the meatball again. It is just so delicious! Granted it should be for a $25 meatball. I got the carbonara again and it was just as delicious. My boss got the chicken parmesan and that was really good too.
We all ordered desserts. We got the 20 layer chocolate cake, tiramisu and the strawberry shortcake. The chocolate cake and tiramisu were excellent. The strawberry shortcake was good, but needed a little help. The biscuit was very tasty, but they needed more strawberry juice or something to help soften everything together. It was a little dry, so more strawberries and strawberry juice would have helped.
This was our third time visiting Lavo. As always the service and food did not disappoint! We had the meatball appetizer which is delicious. The music was a good level considering it was a live DJ. We tried the Oreo dessert this year and I highly recommend it, it was delicious!
Excellent experience. The food was amazing! When they recommend the meatball, it's no joke! Really really good. But be careful how much you eat, I could barely eat my carbonara entree, which was excellent as well. We had no room for dessert, but some of them sounded delicious! Would definitely go back!
Overall very disappointing. We have eaten in most all the top Vegas restaurants, and decided to check out Lavo based on all the hype. We were among the first to be seated along the far back wall in a nearly empty reastaurant. Soon after another couple was seated one table away (tables were small set for two). Ok -kinda weird in a huge empty place we are seated so close, but it only got more ridiculous. Soon after that a very large group of 16 + were then seated in two large booths next to us! Really ? Could they not be seated at the opposite end of the row so we could finish out our dinner, enjoy a drink and have a conversation we could hear? The group of women were loud and clearly celebrating and have a great time of it! Not a problem- they should be able to party and have fun. But in a still less than have full reastaurant there were multiple other places to seat a large crowd than next a few couples already seated.
Food and service didn’t make up for the poor seating by the hostess, very salty and while the spaghetti was good it was way over priced. Octopus appetizer was tough, and salmon was just mediocre.
When we told the manger about our complaint about the seating he actually argued with us, no apology, no nothing. And when we left.... still half empty restaurant.
Food , ambiance don’t measure up to justify another visit.
My husband and I have dined at a multitude of fine dining restaurants, and we, of course, expect a better experience for the price paid. The food at LAVO was good/decent ... the bread was a tad bit stale but otherwise no major complaints. The main issue was with the service. Again, these complaints are in regards to the expected standard of a finer dining restaurant. Our waiter forgot to bring my husband’s drink (no big deal... we are all humans) but then proceeded to also forgot to bring my salad which I never got and was not too keen on delievering a good apology... so all in all, the service/food did not match the price. The ambiance was really nice, however ... great outdoor patio area.
We visit your restaurant at least twice a year for the last two years and I have to say this visit was the most disappointing. I hope this was just a bad night for this fine institution. Because we really enjoy the food here. But this night left a bad taste in our mouth. Not sure if we will return
Our food was great and the service was good, too. We were celebrating both our anniversary and a birthday, which we noted on the reservation, but neither were acknowledged by any servers or the manager. Maybe an oversight, or maybe the Vegas Strip restaurants no longer recognize special occasions.
