Use to be my favorite Italian spot. Food and service going downhill!
Basically when you go to an italian restaurant you feel like eating pasta. Well I ask for spaghetti with meat balls. The spaghetti were swiming in a tomate sauce, not very hot (I like the pasta to be hot, logically) the meat was overcook and the meat was spreaded. I was very very hungry so I ate, but I did not enjoy the meal. Sorry I should have complain but I was very upset. Maybe it was my fault not to complain.
Everytime I went to NYC I came by Lavo, I may not do it again.
Great!! Everything was wonderful
Asparagus was a little under cooked. Our waitress wasn’t very amicable. She was chewing gum like a valley girl during her shift and while she took our order. Also she expressed the entree we ordered only came with a protein and suggested a side. We ordered a side, and the entree came with spinach and mushrooms... so that was weird.
All done very professionally. Food was excellent. Waitress was excellent
It was a energetic happy hour crowd. We ate in the dining room which was quieter than the bar scene. The menu is thoughtful and not difficult for anyone to find something that they would enjoy eating. The portions are ample and well prepared. The Prix Fixe menu is a bargain and looks amazing. All of it well done.
Great seafood tower
Food is excellent as usual. Great value for restaurant week. The like this place for it’s a quick and casual lunch place with excellent food at a good value. The waitress we had however was a bit absent minded (forgot our iced tea) and seemed in a rush to wrap us up when the restaurant has plenty of empty tables.
Everything great but too noisy! Restaurant Week dinner portions were terrific. The waiter was very attentive and accommodating.
Over-priced, lackluster, nightclub dining
We visited Lavo for the first time during NYC Summer 2019 Restaurant Week. The bar (upfront) had music blasting when we arrived, but the restaurant section was fairly quiet. By 7pm, music was blasting there as well - to the point where you could not carry on a conversation at a small booth for 4. We waited over 1/2 hour for bread to be brought to the table and we had to request a change of wait staff because of the first person's abhorrent attitude. On the bright side, the pre-fixe menu had a lot of great choices and the food was excellent. But DON'T entertain going here if you want to be able to speak to your fellow diners. It is overly loud, overly crowded and we will never go there again.
The food was delicious, I'll definitely come back, it's my third time and I can't get tired of it.
Too loud. Breaks the business atmosphere
Noise level is unbearable - ruins the experience !
Always the best!
Great food and experience!
I was disappointed that the bread has changed as it’s been a staple in the experience as you wait for your food.
Great options for restaurant week!
I loved the food, very tasty. My guest and I cleaned our plates. We will be back to try the rest of the food.
Food is always good here!
Lavo is my favorite go to lunch spot in the Midtown East . The food is consistently good, the service is superb and the ambiance is always filled with great energy.
Very lively and happening, mour server was good and helpful, the assisting staff really was not the best, half couldn't understand what we wanted and when after the meal( our gnocchi we ate only half because it was tastless and the pappardelle was saltless but we kept quiet)we had our food boxed the guy just put the bag on the table as we were still talking , and it was so badly packed it spilled, this is not expected of Lavo, anyways not going to back for a while, the best part was our server, which I took his name
One of the best chicken Parmesans I have ever had!
Lavo Italian Restaurant- New York was amazing. Delicious food, fun atmosphere, and great service.
The ambiance was great and we had the best waitress ever!!!
Great food, our waiter was excellent. Unfortunately, we were seated next to a group of 15 loud annoying people standing up constantly as if they had bee stings in their rear ends and constantly bumping into our table as they passed by. Its a fantastic restaurant with amazing food, but squeezing in people that tightly hurts business. It no longer feels like a romantic dinner, when it’s that congested with people.
The service was very poor and the food was ok but small for a big money
What I did not like was that I wanted to go to the nightclub and they where literally forcing me and my partner to spend 400 dollars just to be at the bar. It was our first time at Lavo NC and we wanted to get to know the entire place..
Very good all around
Italian food is very good, steak NOT so good
Food is good but extremely overpriced for what you get, and the waitstaff are not friendly.
Alfredo sauce didn't taste like Alfredo. Creamed Spinach tased like regular spinach. Beer was kind of gross. Restaurant week choices were kinda wack.
Very satisfied with the selections available on the Restaurant Week menu. There is something for everyone, a chicken dish, steak, salmon, and penne alla vodka. The appetizers available on this menu were equally good and varied. The Oreo Zeppoles for dessert were out of this world. Melted Oreos inside zeppoles accompanied by a small bowl of I want I think was melted vanilla ice cream with an Oreo sticking in it! The space is nicely decorated. But on this night, the restaurant was LOUD! I could hardly hear my dinner companion over the loud table next to us. But the restaurant was VERY busy; almost every table was full, even at the bar area. This was between 6pm and 8pm!
Very delicious food. Their famous meatball and pasta are ultra good. The tuna tartar, mussels, ribeye steak with truffle fries and branzino are outstanding. A LOT OF PEOPLE ordered steak and truffle fries: TWO THUMBS UP. Seafood is fresh and cooked with flavor. Waiter was excellent in service. Provided high chair for my toddler. Not many babies on a weekday lunch. Many business lunches. I would go again. Also, WIDE VARIETY OF ALCOHOL AT THE BAR from top to bottom.
Went for Restaurant Week and was seated promptly at 1130am! Wait staff was very attentive and a great deal for $26 lunch prix fixe! One of the only Restaurant Week deals that DOESN'T upcharge you for steak.
It's a very nice place, however I didn't really appreciate them telling us we had to be out by 9pm. Our resv was at 6:30, so that timing wasn't a problem at all, and they really didn't need to say that. But, at about 8pm, they started renovating the room for the nightclub and rolling tables in and out I felt like I was at a behind the scenes show. All working around us moving tables, dragging chairs. I just thought it was very disruptive to our dinner. They should have seated us someplace out of their way.
Very nice for any occasion
Was great. Servers were acoomodative
