Lavender Bistro Ratings and Reviews
We made a Valentines reservation based on a recommendation of a work colleague. We drove 1 and a 1/2 hour to get their. Google maps took us on a weird detour which meant we were 10 minutes late. The hostess had us wait 3 minutes and then returned to say they could not seat us as they had sent the cooks home.
They could have offered us a drink, bread or appetizers, especially after I told them how far we drove. We turned around and drove home with no food. Not good service and not the way to spend Valentines!!
Have been to Lavenders many times and always had a pleasant experience. Always sat outside, but tried inside this time and were placed right next to a very loud couple even though the rest of the large room was empty, and a hopefully quiet date night turned into a struggle to hear each other. They easily could have sat us further apart. The menu was limited to accommodate Valentines Day and the choices were not good for me. The staff hovered to clear the table, again even though we were just two of four people in the entire room. Very, very annoying. Overall cost was exorbitant. Sorry Lavenders. You blew it this time.
Thoroughly enjoyed our early Valentine’s Day celebration. Seated in the outdoor garden area at, unfortunately, a very busy corner table near the waiter’s station. Not many tables for two available this evening. Waiter recommended the calamari appetizer which we shared - ample portion, enough for 3, really. Split a Cesar salad which, again, was more than ample for two. Hubby had the recommended Grilled Pork Chop which was a huge chop perfectly done and I had the rack of lamb, also perfectly done, although somewhat disappointing that it was served at room temp. It was a cool evening and the heat lamp ran out of propane during our entree. Interestingly, the waiter also had to tend to replacing the tank...not what you’d expect at a “high end” restaurant. All in all, enjoyable evening and, as luck would have it, most bottled wines are half price on Tuesdays so we were pleasantly surprised when the check came.
First timer! Definitely a go to. The food was amazing! The menu has plenty of variety. If you're on a budget I'd go elsewhere because when you look at this menu your going to want everything! The servers were on point and ready to serve you they were also very organized. The ambience just makes you happy if you sit outside which I recommend. There was something about this place that I will return soon. The owner of this restaurant should be proud. I've been to a few higher end restaurant's and have been disappointed but not this one! Loved it!
THE best restaurant while we were in Palm Springs. Can't wait to go back. Make your reservations early. They couldn't accommodate us early evening outside but they saved us a table next to the outside. They thought of everything. Wait staff was very attentive but not constantly bothering you. Food was impeccable! I can't say enough good things about this restaurant.
Steak was sent back as it was not cooked to order. Side of asparagus tips with parmigiana cheese ordered was forgotten. After relaying this to the server, whole asparagus spears were delivered without he cheese. Another order was put in but came back as full spears with cheese. Servers were polite and apologetic but would benefit from additional training. While making the reservation, a note was made that this was a birthday/anniversary occasion. No mention of this was made by the staff or servers. Why ask this question only for it to be ignored?
Additionally, although handicapped parking was provided in the parking lot, illegally parked vehicles prohibited van access to a person using an electric wheelchair. These spots should be better marked and lit or policed.
Overall experience was very disappointing.
Huge disappointment. We looked forward to a special evening here for our first time visit. This place has loads of ambiance...and tons of people. Picture a football field with tables and lighted trees. Enormous and surprisingly loud. Had reservations for 3 weeks ahead and they tried to put us at junk tables, twice. Finally seated and eventually speculated about how long it would take for a server to show up. We saw our main server 3 times, each of which was requested and relayed through the water server. Outrageous. And the coup de grace was the astonishingly mediocre food. In my humble opinion, this place is all hype, a place for the beautiful people to be seen and that is it. And for this, you have the privilege of having to sell a kidney to pay the check. P.T Barnum lives. Try Arnold Palmers if you want a great meal, authentic ambiance, and no attitude.
We were kindly greeted when we arrived early for our reservation, and was welcomed to wait in the lounge. There was easy listening acoustic live music, and just enough time for a delicious Sauvignon Blanc. Then we were guided to our reserved table on the patio. The patio is beautiful with white lights around the base of all the many trees with plenty of heaters, if needed. We started with the beef tartare- it was the best we’ve had! I ordered the roasted duck and my husband had the tri-tip steak. The food and dining experience exceeded our expectations.
