Lavagna - NYC
The kitchen concept is to create dishes traditionally Italian, emphasizing fresh, seasonal ingredients and product of the highest quality.
The menu highlights include homemade pastas, a wood oven roasted fish for two, roast pork chop, baby rack of lamb and of course the rigatoni with sweet and spicy sausage that has become a classic over the years.
The wine list has been a yearly recipient of the Wine Spectator Award of Excellence since 2002 and it focuses on hard to find wines from regional Italy along with other international selections.
I've lived in NYC for 10 years. This is one of the best restaurants I've ever been to.
The rigatoni is some of the best pasta in the entire city. LOVED!
I can safely say this is one of the best restaurants in New York. The service is friendly and phenomenal. The food is excellent. I’ve been eating at this place for over 15 years. Never disappoints
Incredible experience. New favorite place in NYC.
Was my go-to place for a long time. Always recommended it. Friday night’s dinner was basically abysmal. Wish I could have my money back. I am not happy about writing this review but hopefully the owner will tighten things up. I am reluctant to return.
My favorite restaurant in NYC! We found this restaurant by accident. It's been in the east village for over 20 years. Once you dine there, you will know why!
Such a cute place! The rigatoni was to die for. Also, they do half sizes of all pastas too - good for sharing!
One of the best meals I have had in a long time, delicious!
My favorite East Village place!
Have the rigatoni and the scallops!!!
Amazing experience! My grandfather is a picky eater and they made the night by preparing him a simple off the menu dish. Also the best monkfish I’ve ever had. Food is incredibly fresh and the evening was very special. Will definitely go back! An east village must!
Awesome ambiance, service and food
Easily one of the best restaurants in NYC. The fact that it still thrives while the rest of the neighborhood has changed so radically is a huge testament to the quality of the food and the people running the show.
Absolutely wonderful. Food was amazing and the service was top notch. Best service we had while in NY. Highly suggest for date night, special occasion, intimate family dinner.
Outstanding service and plates. A must visit.
The beet salad with ricotta cheese was wonderful. The homemade pasta with meatballs was not
the pasta was overcooked and the veal meatballs lacked any appealing flavor .
Desserts were unimaginative And have remained unchanged on the menu for a very long time.
I noticed that the wonderful sweet pea homemade ravioli has been removed from the menu. Sorry to see that go.
It was a winner.
This is the most charming, delish and warm place in the east village. Highly recommend.
Lovely setting, excellent service and food.
The Lavagna experience is always excellent: the menu, food, service, and ambience. I have never had such consistence in any other restaurant .
A little loud and hard to hear, but overall a great meal!
What delicious food, and such a special restaurant! It was one of my favorite meals while in NYC. A friend who lives in the city recommended it to us. It is a small restaurant, with a lovely, happy and lively atmosphere! Our waiter, George (?) was the BEST! He guided us in all of our food and wine choices, and everything was outstanding! Highly recommend, and plan to return on my next visit to NYC.
My favorite restaurant in NYC
Always and amazing time and meal here
Innovative, luscious food with sweet and friendly service. Classic East Village awesomeness tucked into a tree-lined side street. Loved it!
Been to Lavagna several times and have always enjoyed it. This time we (4 people) were put in a tight corner where the foot traffic was so close that I got bumped several times despite pulling my chair in as close as comfortably possible. A minor inconvenience but it did detract a little from an otherwise enjoyable meal.
We had 4 different dishes all were excellent! It’s noisy but a nice neighborhood atmosphere. We will definitely go back!
Amazing place, great food and atmosphere.
The ravioli was amazing!
Our go-to Italian restaurant! Consistently superb.
Fantastico! Always is!
Consistent, solidly delicious food from lovely staff who know the menu very well. Food comes out quickly but we never feel rushed to leave. Excellent cocktails (full bar) and wine list. The rabbit pappardelle is the best.
We have been here four times and every time, it's a great experience. The food and the service are wonderful. In addition to a nice atmosphere.
Staff was friendly and the water glasses were always full. The food was flavorful and came out of the kitchen quickly. Another wonderful experience eating at Lavagna.
Great food and great owner
Charming East Village Italian restaurant. Low key and well-executed.
Loved the place and the food- perfect for a an early friday dinner in a charming location. The pappardelle were perfect.
Loved our meal. From the salads to the pasta dishes and the wonderful pork chop. Everything was fabulous! Oh and the desserts too. Had a beautiful tart and a chocolate cake. Would totally recommend it to anyone.
A great birthday meal. Great service, with attention to detail, in a homey environment.
We've been here several times, it may be my husband's favorite restaurant in the whole city. The rigatoni with sausage is absolutely outstanding. The service this time was a little more scattered than usual though- it may have had to do with sitting outside. Would definitely still return.
