Lavagna - NYC
The kitchen concept is to create dishes traditionally Italian, emphasizing fresh, seasonal ingredients and product of the highest quality.
The menu highlights include homemade pastas, a wood oven roasted fish for two, roast pork chop, baby rack of lamb and of course the rigatoni with sweet and spicy sausage that has become a classic over the years.
The wine list has been a yearly recipient of the Wine Spectator Award of Excellence since 2002 and it focuses on hard to find wines from regional Italy along with other international selections.

love this place!
Rob was a lovely host and the food was superb. Everything was cooked perfectly and La Vagna is a special treasure.
wonderful service from the entire staff and food was delicious!
Neighborhood feel and delicious Tuscan Italian food. I am from Lynchburg VA and we researched lots of restaurants. This was one of our favorites. The wine list is extensive and staff able to guide us through it. Owner is on the floor, sitting with clients every now and then and check with everyone. Loved it.
As always, Lavagna never disappoints. The oven baked fish was incredible, and the service always friendly and warm.
The food is DELICIOUS! The restaurant is such a NYC treasury. The staff are welcoming and superb. I would highly recommend to anyone visiting New York.
The Rigatoni is a MUST!!
Just the best.
Lovely Xmas Eve dinner. Service was excellent, ambiance was romantic, food was delish! Drinks were amazing…the meatless rigatoni was to die for. Thank you for the lovely evening, Lavagna 🤍
Absolutely amazing restaurant
An absolutely amazing experience! The staff is so welcoming and friendly. It was such a nice intimate dinner! 10/10 would recommend
A great evening with pasta, focaccia and drinks. The staff really hustles!
We sat outdoors it was lovely food very good! Wine excellent
The place is small and when crowded (like it was on this particular night), it was a bit too chaotic for my taste. The staff was very nice and helpful and the food was very delicious. I haven't been in a while but I always remember liking the food very much. I hope my next visit will be on a quieter night.
Wonderful!! One of our favorite places!!
Great place, unfortunately this time many dishes were not available and the service was not very good. New waiters, inexperienced and not very professional.
We absolutely loved Lavagna. From the warm and welcoming staff, the excellent food and wine recommendations (which were delicious) and the cozy environment. Everything was fantastic. There are so many terrific places to eat in the area but we will definitely be back
all the food is good; especially the rigatoni
had a great Negroni and liked my wine selection.
Lavagna is our favorite restaurant in NY. We visit every time we return to the city.
Better every time! Sublime fish and pasta and friendly, competence at every turn.
C at best, especially for the price. Really disappointed. Had the scallop appetizer, it was very good albeit small. Had the lamb which was really sinewy and not good. Lastly had the pollock , horribly overcooked and utterly flavorless. :(
Scallops were very good. Pork chop was moist and very tasty. My fiance had the rigatoni which was delicious. Unlike most restaurants lately, they had plenty of staff which was nice to see.
Excellent vibe overall. Amazing food and service. Would go again in a heartbeat
The good was ok but clumsy, with heavy use of cheese and not much subtlety.
The space was cramped and uncomfortable.
The maitre d / owner was brusque and unwelcoming.
a gem in the east village
easy calm and cozy
great food as well
This places never fails. Deliciously prepared fresh food, a great wine list, and great staff, make it an enjoyable experience every time.
The excellence of this place is relentless. Every ingredient sings-service, ambiance, and delectable food.
Absolutely love this place. The rabbit ragú is the best in New York - it’s my all time favourite comfort food!
Enjoyable every time. Great food and service. Nice outdoor area. Good wine list.
Every visit to this place is a delight. The food, service and ambiance balance one other in excellence. I will be back soon!
Although I hesitate to share it with too many, this is a wonderful restaurant, it is relaxed, but attentive and the food is excellent. The pizza ia utterly extraordinarily wonderful.
I usually do not write reviews... but I felt the need because the food was absolutely amazing. I ordered the Rigatoni pasta and finished the entire plate. Dinner was beyond my expectations. In addition, I highly recommend the Crostata Del Giorno and Gianduja Chocolate Mousse Cake. Do not skip out on the dessert!
Our dinner was delicious and the service was excellent. My only complaint is that the place could use a good cleaning. There was a lot of dust on the chains from the hanging lights, I don’t mean to sound petty but when I’m dining I want feel that the restaurant Is clean. As I said before the service and food were excellent but I was bothered by the very dirty lights
We loooooove it here!! The food is so amazing and we are obsessed with their pizzas! Thin crust, crispy and delicious! The staff is so welcoming and always make us feel at home. We usually order the specials as they are too good to pass up! Highly recommend!
Excellent food, excellent service. We ate outdoors on a very cool night but the heat lamp worked wonders.
I hadn't been to Lavagna in a number of years. I won't let it be so long next time. A lovely dinner at a very friendly and warm neighborhood restaurant. I'm so glad I went back.
Order the Focaccia. You won't be disappointed! Excellent food & service. Personal attention from the owner. We'll be back
