Lavagna - NYC
The kitchen concept is to create dishes traditionally Italian, emphasizing fresh, seasonal ingredients and product of the highest quality.
The menu highlights include homemade pastas, a wood oven roasted fish for two, roast pork chop, baby rack of lamb and of course the rigatoni with sweet and spicy sausage that has become a classic over the years.
The wine list has been a yearly recipient of the Wine Spectator Award of Excellence since 2002 and it focuses on hard to find wines from regional Italy along with other international selections.

The food was fantastic, service friendly, atmosphere good. I totally would return here. If anything, there could be a bit less aircon.
Very reliable East Village spot. Appetizers very well made. Main courses were good but not up their usual standards.
Always an amazing meal can't wait to go back. Thanks!
The pizza is the best outside of Italy, pasta is spectacular, and service is always superb. One of my all-time favorites, every time.
Never disappoints... was very happy to introduce a business associate to their sausage rigatoni.
This is a neighborhood gem and I'm so happy it make it through the pandemic and didn't close. It's a cozy restaurant with superb food choices. I love whenever I come, they know to have my diet coke ready:)
Lavagna is a treasure. It all works! The food is excellent. The Pizza i the best I ever had and I am quite old and have eaten many pizzas. The service is informal, friendly, and very attentive. It all comes together as a wonderful restaurant experience!
Another divine meal at this neighborhood treasure. Everything was delicious and gracious.
Delicious food, warm but unpretentious atmosphere
Great date spot
Food Pictures are better than the ones in person. Food quality is average. Nothing special. I think it is highly rated for their cuisine skills and quality of service. They also have a surprising bread charge, unexpected! the bread they bring you while you wait for the food has a cost too and it is hard to eat, first time in my life that I get charge for bread.
An amazing place with the kindest wait staff and good vibe. Good for any occasion.
Excellent food and service. Everything we've tried has been delicious. Highly recommend.
Best place ever! Been here several times. Never disappoints.
Great place. Please don't come here and be loud, thank you.
It was a thrill to be back at Lavagna, a favorite of hours and of the two friends who were with us. The food was superb as always. The service was excellent. The noise level was louder than in the past but that was probably due to a large party of boisterous friends next to us, going back again in a couple of weeks. A wonderful post-pandemic treat.
We had pizza and pasta all Nonna and salad and cocktails and wine. Service was excellent, this guy knows exactly what wine you will love.
Lavagna is a wonderful restaurant in every way! It is warm. The service is friendly helpful and present as well as informal. The Pizza is the best in the city. I cannot praise it enough
never disappoints always a joy to go and always on the short list
I had the pasta with rabbit. It was delicious. My husband had the salmon, which was also delicious. He was also delighted to be able to order a Black Manhattan that he loved. This restaurant is small, cozy, and old-world with its tin ceilings, wide floor boards and actual physical menus. It was a great meal!
Artichoke is a great app, and the whole roasted fish for two is perfect.
Amazing food, excellent service and delicious wines.... one of the best restaurants in NYC
Lavagna NEVER disappoints. This is my 4th or 5th time dining in here.
Best in town: food, people, atmosphere! Lavagna is where it's at: The best restaurant not only in the East Village - but also in all of New York. Great food? Check. Great people? Check. Great atmosphere? Check. I hesitate to write this to give away my secret, but ... it's the best and you should know that!
5th Wedding Anniversary- cane back to NYC to our favorite restaurant. It did not disappoint!
Better than ever, hidden gem, staff knows what it takes to be great and they know what it means to be consistently excellent year after year, Bravo to the owner!
Everything was delicious . We had Wood fired Whole fish , scallops, rigatoni. Service was great. Overall a really nice evening. We will be back.
First waiter - simply rude and in one's face; given a different waitress by the owner, and she was nuts, with arms flailing all over the place as she spat off unsolicited banter. Who cares about food quality when all staff should be fired!
Great food. Get the fish flambe for 2 - it's dramatic and romantic.
Rigatoni is first rate. Must try.
The food at Lavagna is consistently good and the service is friendly. The rigatoni is an all-time favorite.
Best eatery for blocks. Dint miss the artichoke appetizer
Another great experience at Lavagna!
Fantastic, charming service. Delicious food and drink for a great price.
outstanding !!! have the rigatoni & the wine selections are great
We love eating at Lavagna! Always delicious food, great service and staff we know by name!
always an incredible experience, thank you.
So excellent! Mouthwatering pizza and pasta, sublime service and pretty setting. 10 of 10!
