Lavagna - NYC
The kitchen concept is to create dishes traditionally Italian, emphasizing fresh, seasonal ingredients and product of the highest quality.
The menu highlights include homemade pastas, a wood oven roasted fish for two, roast pork chop, baby rack of lamb and of course the rigatoni with sweet and spicy sausage that has become a classic over the years.
The wine list has been a yearly recipient of the Wine Spectator Award of Excellence since 2002 and it focuses on hard to find wines from regional Italy along with other international selections.

Firstly, you must have a reservation and show your vaccine card. They are not a very big restaurant so this is understandable. We were seated at our time of reservation even though the restaurant was packed, indoors and outdoors.
Service was excellent and the specials were explained very well.
We were 3 in our party. Ordered the seared scallops as appetizer and they were delicious. For the mains we ordered the Rigatoni, the Pizzetta del Bosco and the Papperdelle. Everything was delicious. Ordered red wine. For dessert we ordered the chocolate mousse cake.
It was a wonderfully lively dining experience. Highly recommend.
Outstanding cozy room, food and people.
Perfect restaurant. Superb service.
Always a perfect meal at Lavagna! Great wine selection too.
Outstanding- excellent all around !!!
nice place with very good food, the owner is very sympathic. A good place to go
Charming, East Village neighborhood Italian.
One of the best Italian restaurants in NYC. Cozy and delicious.
We live down the street from Lavagna and just love the place and the staff. The food is delicious and remarkably consistent. Never had a bad dish after literally dozens of visits. It's one of our NYC staples. Long live, Lavagna!
Outstanding as always. Will be back sooner than later.
As always, a terrific meal at our favorite place in NYC. The pappardelle is a must!
The food here was perfection! I’m so glad I found this place. Def my new go to, the sauce from the ravioli is so delicious!
Everything wonderful as usual.
Everything sings at this long-loved neighborhood spot. The sublime pizza seems to keep getting better, which stuns us each time. Even the side dishes wow. We have now grown attached to the spinach and garlic side, an utter standout of salty and garlicky perfection. Gracious and warm service with familiar staff rounds out a truly excellent experience.
This is only a review for outdoor seating in the temporary structure. I typically love Lavagna. I’ve been coming here for years. Outdoor structure experience is not equal to indoor and the two lovely outdoor tables by the restaurant. I’m sure that the staff is stretched thin but if possible, it would be great to have the same ambiance- table clothes and candles- outdoors. The food is delicious as always. The staff is kind and working hard on a Saturday night. Thank you
An amazing neighborhood gem! Great date night spot with incredible Italian food.
Always the best
Great local place for italian. Cozy and friendly.
Always great food and great attentive staff. We always ask for our usual corner table and the owner always holds it for us if they're not fully booked. I love this hidden gem and grateful that they are still able to serve New Yorkers. Thank you for the best food and service as always. I highly recommend this place to any one new to the city.
always a perfect dinner spot! excellent service
The food was fantastic, service friendly, atmosphere good. I totally would return here. If anything, there could be a bit less aircon.
Very reliable East Village spot. Appetizers very well made. Main courses were good but not up their usual standards.
Always an amazing meal can't wait to go back. Thanks!
The pizza is the best outside of Italy, pasta is spectacular, and service is always superb. One of my all-time favorites, every time.
Never disappoints... was very happy to introduce a business associate to their sausage rigatoni.
This is a neighborhood gem and I'm so happy it make it through the pandemic and didn't close. It's a cozy restaurant with superb food choices. I love whenever I come, they know to have my diet coke ready:)
Lavagna is a treasure. It all works! The food is excellent. The Pizza i the best I ever had and I am quite old and have eaten many pizzas. The service is informal, friendly, and very attentive. It all comes together as a wonderful restaurant experience!
Another divine meal at this neighborhood treasure. Everything was delicious and gracious.
Delicious food, warm but unpretentious atmosphere
Great date spot
Food Pictures are better than the ones in person. Food quality is average. Nothing special. I think it is highly rated for their cuisine skills and quality of service. They also have a surprising bread charge, unexpected! the bread they bring you while you wait for the food has a cost too and it is hard to eat, first time in my life that I get charge for bread.
An amazing place with the kindest wait staff and good vibe. Good for any occasion.
Excellent food and service. Everything we've tried has been delicious. Highly recommend.
Best place ever! Been here several times. Never disappoints.
Great place. Please don't come here and be loud, thank you.
It was a thrill to be back at Lavagna, a favorite of hours and of the two friends who were with us. The food was superb as always. The service was excellent. The noise level was louder than in the past but that was probably due to a large party of boisterous friends next to us, going back again in a couple of weeks. A wonderful post-pandemic treat.
We had pizza and pasta all Nonna and salad and cocktails and wine. Service was excellent, this guy knows exactly what wine you will love.
Lavagna is a wonderful restaurant in every way! It is warm. The service is friendly helpful and present as well as informal. The Pizza is the best in the city. I cannot praise it enough
never disappoints always a joy to go and always on the short list
