About Laurenzo's Restaurant
Created by the founders of El Tiempo Cantina, Houston’s First Family of Tex Mex, Laurenzo’s Restaurant features the other side of their family’s Italian, Mexican and American Culinary Heritage. The menu, one of the largest in the city, is packed with recipes dating back generations, and includes fresh Gulf Seafood, Prime Rib, and home-made pasta. If you’re in the mood for good ‘old home-style cooking’ made from scratch daily with the freshest of ingredients, then Laurenzo’s is your place. The family has been cooking with love in Houston for over three generations, just the way their matriarch Mama Ninfa Laurenzo taught them.

Laurenzo's Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
We went for my birthday, which was noted on our reservation, but not one person acknowledged it. The caesar salad was better than average, and the lasagna was a respectable effort. My quail fajitas were quite good. Nothing was exceptional, and we may or may not be back.
Laurenzo's is unique in that there's menu selections for a number of different cuisines - Meat Lovers (famous for their prime rib, by the ounce, and baby back ribs), Seafood, Mexican, Italian, etc. There's usually something for everyone. And their sides are excellent, particularly the creamed sweet corn and buttered peas. Home baked bread and desserts are amazing. The Italian Cream Cake is spectacular.
Our go - to place for an evening out. Everything on the menu is amazing -- our favorites are the creamed corn, the filet mignon, the queso, the white chocolate bread pudding and just everything! We are never disappointed! and our favorite waiter is Ron, but he's hard to get apparently :/
I had purchased a Groupon in order to see what the food was like at Laurenzos. My friends had told me the prime rib was delicious so I had told my guest about it. We were not allowed to choose the prime rib because it was not on the "Groupon menu." It was a little disappointing. The Groupon menu was limited to 3 items.
Groupon and Laurenzos need to be more specific with their wording on the
I also had made an Open Table reservation and did not receive my points.
The waiter was terrific ! The clam chowder superb!
We went for the Restaurant Week menu. They offered several excellent choices. Both items we ordered were delicious. The calamari was done perfectly. I had the shrimp BLT sandwich. It was also unique and great-tasting. The service was well paced and attentive. We enjoyed a leisurely lunch.
This used to be my go-to spot for casual special occasions, but now it's too expensive for its basic menu. Maybe it's common now, but my call liquor martini was $10 and they added a $3 upcharge for it being a martini.....wonder how many upcharges come with an Old-fashioned or margarita. The menu has upcharges all over it. Overall the parking was easy (no crowds) and free, food was good (except dessert, skip that), service excellent but the value is not there anymore.
This was the second time we've been to Laurenzo's for Houston Restaurant Week - once for dinner with a group and this time for brunch. Both were exceptional. Of the 5 different restaurants we've tried during HRW, this was by far the best. The brunch -- grilled artichoke hearts were amazing, French toast and eggs were also great. Loved the key lime pie and peach cobbler. And, the service was great. Waiter was attentive, courteous and knowledgeable of the menu. Obviously HRW works to get people to visit your restaurant, as we live in Humble and this was our second trip to Laurenzo's this week. We will definitely return often.
