Created by the founders of El Tiempo Cantina, Houston’s First Family of Tex Mex, Laurenzo’s Restaurant features the other side of their family’s Italian, Mexican and American Culinary Heritage. The menu, one of the largest in the city, is packed with recipes dating back generations, and includes fresh Gulf Seafood, Prime Rib, and home-made pasta. If you’re in the mood for good ‘old home-style cooking’ made from scratch daily with the freshest of ingredients, then Laurenzo’s is your place. The family has been cooking with love in Houston for over three generations, just the way their matriarch Mama Ninfa Laurenzo taught them.

It's a good dependable place for everyday fare. We do not hesitate to dine there and the steaks are par with more expensive establishments.

Great menu with lots of options. Even though we went on a busy night, our waiter was attentive, knowledgeable and made excellent suggestions. We will become regulars.

As always service was excellent, their menu options are substantial and I've never had a bad meal here. Fish and chips and their Chili are favorites but the main thing is the prime rib. Best in Houston and reasonably priced. Always a pleasure to take friends and family here. From Steaks to Italian to Tex-Mex easy to please everyone.

Having never been there before, I was disappointed to find it is a glorified sports bar with very high priced food. We both ordered the small prime rib. They were cooked perfectly; and this could be my fault - they were puny, no bone-in, and full of fat. Perhaps 8oz is not substantial enough of a size for this cut of meat.
We ordered the French fries instead of the mashed and they were great. We shared a side of mushrooms which was an extremely small portion and were not really anything to write home about. They were barely sautéed, and didn't have much flavor.
The waiter explained that they were known for their Prime Rib and their pastas. I was searching for a pasta menu but found only fettucine alfredo as a side for something else. I saw a neighbor wolfing down his Mexican food - maybe that's what they are really known for?

We went for a family celebration. Plenty of options so that everyone could get something they wanted. Excellent service as well. Loved the memorabila and the decor. We will celebrate at Laurenzo's again in the future.

They are well known for their prime rib and it did not disappoint. Our waiter was nice but was busy watching the Texans game. Overall, we didn't have a bad time but it was just not what I was expecting.

We stopped in for a late afternoon dinner and to have a special time for our wedding anniversary. Overall, we were pleased with our meal.

The always reliable filet was perfectly cooked, the house salad with balsamic dressing is delicious, and the fresh green peas for one of the sides is a treat. We also had redfish which I didn’t think was going to be blackened since that was not mentioned on the menu, but not really surprising either. Blackened is not my favorite, but the fish was otherwise perfectly cooked. The poblano queso rice was an interesting concept but lacked the expected flavor, especially as a side to a highly seasoned fish.

The waitress was regularly addressing us as “sweetheart” and other similar “names” and it got to where I wasn’t feeling receptive to being addressed that way so often. There’s nothing mysterious about either of our appearances, so a ma’am or a sir would have been just fine and easy to figure out. She was attentive enough, though, and our order came out just fine.

Took my wife for dinner, I was given a gift card as a gift. The menu looked promising. We don’t get s lot of night where we can go without the kids, so, we were looking forward to a nice meal. We drove 45 minutes found the place pretty easy, parking was good.

We were seated right away, but, it took at least 10 minutes for a waiter to come by. However, I must say no matter how bad the service and meals were, the bread and garlic butter is amazing!!! Ok, back to my story, we looked over the menu and made our selections. Finally, someone came by and took our order. The food came out really quick. I got the chicken parm with fettuccine Alfredo. Chicken well seasoned and good. The fettuccine was like wallpaper paste. Such a over cooked old mess. My wife had the country fried pork chop (it was shake and bake) so dry and over cooked. We didn’t get dessert, we decided to cut our losses and stop at Kroger in the way home.

The food was expensive, the service poor, it was a shame I was really looking forward to enjoying a nice night out. I wouldn’t recommend going here.

Laurenzo's is one of our favorites but we don't get there as often since we moved to location a bit further away. We love the sports bar decor combined with an upscale menu and service. I would strongly encourage anyone who hasn't given it a try to do so. If you are there on Thursday thru Sunday try to get Rohn as your server and tell him The Blackim's sent you! LOL

Lorenzo's doesn't know what it wants to be, and Italian or Mexican restaurant. The food was ok, but nothing great. Wine list was very limited selections. I don't think I will go back for dinner. Maybe ok for a quick lunch.

As always at this way under rated restaurant, the food was outstanding, and the service is the best in town. The restaurant reminds me of Rue 57 in NYC. I’ve dined here about a dozen times over the last few years, and have never had a bad experience. Drive here from Friendswood. About 45 miles, but it’s worth the drive.
