Just a fantastic dining experience. I like the BYOB option, but don't forget the cocktails either--try the Dark Star--wow! Each course was a delight. Beautifully presented with unique flavors. The Marlin, sea urchin, duck and lamb were highlights but I have to say every dish was special. Desserts were really creative and tasty. Great service--very knowledgeble and approachable servers. A bit of a tight space but well worth the visit.

This is a venue every foodie needs to experience. The seven courses and wine pairings were nothing short of amazing.

Our second time at Laurel and, overall, we preferred the earlier option of a carte dining. The duck and the lamb courses seemed out of balance - it may be because of the surfeit of flavors in an 8 course meal since we opted for the additional gnocchi with black truffles.
We may have been better off with a 5 course meal and no additional charge for the gnocchi with truffles! The dessert offerings with marshmallows, candy, despite a tasty small portion of chocolate mouse, were a definite low point.

Laurel was one of the best restaurants I’ve been to. Each of the seven courses was artistically presented and delicious! Amazingly creative combinations of ingredients! The staff was also excellent!

The meal was very nicely paced. When we left, we were surprised to realize we were there for 3hrs. They catered well to my husband who is a bit picky, substituting seafood for vegetarian options. It was fun getting to eat both mine and his versions. Professional staff. Very creative menu. Few ingredients in couple dishes, didn’t go well together for my taste, but overall a very enjoyable meal.

Visited Laurel for the second time- first time was 3.5 years ago and we weren't overly thrilled with the meal. This time however, I can say it's been my favorite meal I have had in Philly in years! Everything was absolutely delicious and presented in a fun/creative way. HIGHLY recommend for foodies!

Laurel is a special restaurant that deserves the acclaim it receives for its food, service and ambiance. My girlfriend and I enjoyed a tremendous dining experience to celebrate her birthday on Saturday night. Laurel features a 7-course tasting menu with some optional add-ons. We opted to add the handmade gnocchi as well as the optional wine pairing. It is not inexpensive - but is worth a splurge for a special occasion.

Nothing memorable. Disappointed. Wonderful staff. Great service. Just nothing in the 8 courses that really stayed with me. I'd rate it as fair.

This was our second visit. The excellence of first visit was not a fluke. The staff amazing, addressed our food issues and the kitchen made special adjustments we needed. The presentations, the aroma as each plate is set in front of you, the tastes, the gastro surprises. The multiple desserts are amazing, and so darn cute, upon arrival we clapped!! For a larger group, try the outdoor space. If you dine in Philly a lot or save your pennies for a special and delicious experience, Laurel is the place to go!

We went for a special occasion. It is a foodie event with new food experiences. Expect to be wowed by different food textures and experiences and tastes you won't forget. The price is not for the faint of heart-be prepared.
A pleasure to attend, but pricey for sure.

This was one of a number of visits to Laurel and the place just gets better and better. The food is so amazingly creative that there are now very few restaurants in the area that even come close. Visually, each dish is a work of art, and taste-wise contains an incredibly imaginative and delicious combination of flavors and textures. The menu is a tasting experience, no a la carte, but the staff is very careful to inquire about food intolerances and accommodations are made. The pace of the dinner is perfect and the service was wonderfully attentive without being the slightest bit overbearing. It remains a BYO with no corkage even though there is a liquor license in the attached restaurant next door, owned by Nick Elmi also, so you can get very creative cocktails and delicious wines if you like. There is a wine pairing suggested for each course at an extra cost. Dinner at Laurel is a genuine full dining experience and highly recommended.

Laurel is one of Philadelphia's somewhat hidden treasures. Remarkable at every level: food quality and diversity of the menu, exceptional service and a quiet, low key ambience, make Laurel a true special occasion destination. Only drawback is the small seating capacity makes reservations difficult, but make the effort. Laurel will not disappoint!

Massive disappointment. I feel like people are giving this place good reviews because it's ridulously expensive and has a really long wait list to get reservations. Don't waste your money!!! There are so many other amazing restaurants that serve creative food in a better environment that won't leave you broke and unsatisfied.

Here's the thing.. as a foodie, I can appreciate the work that went into the dishes.. tons of components and beautiful plating. But nothing tasted great! Half the courses were one or two bites that would leave you dumbfounded as to why anyone would want to eat that. And the service.. yes, it was professional. But that's it. The staff was not at all engaging, and came across as very cold. I've been in more expensive restaurants than this, and great service is not stuffy/cold.

The whole experience was incredibly pretentious, and I can't help but feel like people are being duped out of their money just because it appears 'fancy'. Seriously.. please save yourself the disappointment and book Abe Fisher, WM mulherins, Zahav, Vedge, Vetri, Heritage, Parc, Helm.. just anywhere but Laurel.

We visited Laurel twice in 2017 - October and December. Our October visit was a perfect celebration of my birthday and my ratings are more reflective of our December return. As a family we have enjoyed many special tasting menu dinners over the years. My husband and I decided to bring our adult children and their partners to Laurel when they were visiting for the holidays, expecting another memorable night. We achieved that but not in the way we hoped. While the food was very well prepared and interesting in presentation and selection on both occasions (save the dessert which was disappointing both times), the portion size on our second visit seemed even smaller than in October. We ordered both additional options and still left not satiated, especially our son and son in law, the later who was only partially teasing when he suggested a visit to Pat's Steaks. However, more disturbing was the fact that while we were seated in the same location on both occasions, this time we spent most of the evening very cold. It was not just patrons coming in who were seated after us, that was a time limited annoyance. The bigger problem was the door into the bar next door which was repeatedly left ajar requiring my husband or myself to get up and close the door. This is not what I expect to occur in fine dining.

Can't say I'd recommend dining here. The "7 courses" are merely small bites and you don't get to choose what you want to eat. The chef came up with some unusual and quite pretentious creations that frankly were not appetizing (especially the sea urchin and scallop). In addition, everything was super salty. To top it off it was extremely expensive. Not impressed and will not return.

My wife and I had an incredible dining experience. Amazing 7 course tasting menu. Delicious, creative, and well balanced cocktails. Great, smartly currated wine list. Knowledgable staff who were incredibly courteous, outgoing, and friendly. The dining room was intimate and comfortable. Chef Nick Elmi and his crew really created something special here.

We have been waiting forever to come to Laurel. Surprisingly we managed to get a close to last minute reservation and could not have been more excited. Our tastebuds are speechless and have been thinking back to our experience there even three days later. We added the 8th dinner course and the wine tasting to complete the Chef's perfect tasting menu. Thank you so much! We cannot wait to come back.

Wine pairings are European & terrific! ITV next door: a bit noisy so get a table mid or back. Service friendly and competent. Have a look at tasting menu beforehand and pace yourself. We will recommend it enthusiastically to our friends as they visit Philly.

Wonderful. The service was outstanding. The tasting menu was inventive and delicious. There were one or two misses with the dishes for us but those were mostly made up for by how good the other courses were. We did spend the extra money for the additional course (waygu beef), which I thought was worth it. Great dining experience!

One of the top five meals of my life. To pair sea urchin with bamboo and baby corn purée with truffle on top of it? Another level of neural network curating these collaborations.

PS Don't expect your grandmothers white chocolate pudding but expect that to be quite the positive.

This was easily one of the best meals we have had in Philly in the last decade hands down. For once a restaurant lived up to the hype. Every dish was truly incredible. Well worth the wait for a reservation and glad we persevered. Tremendous menu, food, everything about it. My husband is still talking about it!
