Laughing Seed Cafe
First time visiting. Everyone was friendly. Arrived a few minutes early of reservation. Seated right away. Service spot on and timely. Appetizer to main meal timed well. Delicious meal as we tried 5 different items. Recommend highly.
Great vegan and vegetarian food! Cocktails were yummy too. Maybe a tad pricey, but I think it’s worth it!
Delicious food! So nice to have such an appetizing selection. Can’t wait to return for another meal.
Loved! It was my Mom’s first tempeh experience and she said the Reuben was one of the best she has had.
would recommend the windows be washed as it was difficult to see out onto street and all there was to see out there!
Did take a bit to flag down server to ask for something after plates were served.
Would def go back again!
We went for a birthday celebration and enjoyed a great selection of locally sourced, vegan options. We loved the atmosphere, the food, and the portion size. What a great spot in Downtown Asheville. We'll definitely be back!
I always make a point to eat here when I come to Asheville. Great food! Great service. Love the kombucha on tap, the cookies too.
I am a vegetarian , but all the dishes I ordered had a replicated flavor of meat in them. I did not enjoy the taste, sorry about that.
Everything was mostly great except the coffee was lukewarm and two of the four brunch meals were not very hot either.
Great for vegan and vegetarian meals offering a variety of choices on the menu. Quiet atmosphere as the crowds ebbed and flowed throughout the night.
Very nice place! Friendly staff, great food, great location
Only one word comes to mind to describe our experience: PHENOMENAL! We have eaten at many places, in many locales, but Laughing Seed quickly made it up to one of our top, favorite restaurants.
Reading other reviews, we were expecting really warm and welcoming service. Our server was polite and civil, but certainly no warmth or real friendliness to the service. Our jalapeño fries were absolutely delicious and our entrees were quite tasty. We shared a slice of carrot cake for dessert and it was so incredibly dry that it crumbled as soon as a fork was taken to it. It tasted as though it had been sitting around and had become quite stale. Considering we paid over $100 for 3 people, we were disappointed in this restaurant and will not be returning if we visit Asheville again.
Loved this place- the specialty cocktails were amazing and our food was fresh and flavorful!! I am neither a vegan nor a vegetarian but went with my daughter, who is vegan, and loved everything we ate!!! Delicious
Loved my shepherds pie and pumpkin cheesecake. Side salad dressing was excellent.
Very flavorful. Wife and I enjoyed our dishes. Daughter was disappointed that the pizza was made with wheat pita.
Excellent vegetarian prep with outstanding flavors, presentation, many interesting selections, and unique spin. The birthday girl loved it! The meat-eater loved it, and the tofu with thai green curry plate tasted like southern fried chicken, lol. We wish this family-owned concept could be replicated with same authenticity and finesse elsewhere!
We visited Asheville for the weekend to explore as well as see a concert. Dinner on Sunday was SO good that we returned on Monday for another delicious meal at lunchtime.
I hailed the manager to let him know how absolutely awesome our meals were. Should we find ourselves in Asheville again, Laughing Seed is a must repeat!!!
Excellent variety of vegetarian dishes. Tasty and interesting!
Laughing Seed has been one of my favorites for years! My husband is gluten-free and dairy free, and there’s always plenty of choices for him here at this restaurant.
One of our favorite restaurants in Asheville!
Excellent vegetarian restaurant. I really enjoyed the cauliflower tacos. My wife, who is not a vegetarian, enjoyed the “burger”.
Outstanding healthy food selections. Top rate service. Sat outside in a beautiful evening. Everything was just superb! Highly recommend.
The food was great. It was creative and well spiced. I would definitely go back.
Amazing location and atmosphere. We had the risotto, buffalo cauliflower tacos and a Pimento cheese sandwich with tempeh bacon. Everything was tasty and we will definitely be going back.
I you are vegan or vegetarian, this is the place to go in Asheville, NC
Loved all of the dairy free and gluten free options! Everything was delicious.
Excellent food and atmosphere. Great patio for very enjoyable dinner.
Excellent salads. And the carrot cake is worth every calorie!!
Good food but wait staff was overwhelmed and we asked for outside seating and there were 3 open tables but were told they were reserved; we also had reservations ...the open tables remained open . The kitchen got an order mixed up but then comped for it. I think it was an off night. I would go again
Delicious food and drinks. My daughter is newly a vegetarian,so we took her and some teen friends to the Laughing Seed for her birthday dinner. Everyone was pleased! The veggie chorizo was delicious in the tostado and enchilada. The drinks and fresh juices mixes were very tasty. Service was excellent. We will come back for sure!
Amazing. The food was absolutely incredible with great vegan options!!
Jalapeño fries made it all worth while!
We had a wonderful dinner! The menu is full of multi cultural offerings with a vegetarian twist. Our dishes were very flavorful with complex notes that became more apparent with each bite! The staff is warm, knowledgeable and eager to make your visit memorable.
A must in Asheville!
i'm not sure I'd recommend laughing seed, even though i eat here a lot. too many items are based on "fake meat" and it's really expensive. I know organic veggies cost more, but still, this much? I ordered a bowl of soup, and the bowl was half full at best. seemed like the same amount as in a cup, but its just in a bowl. some days service is good, other days it's poor. yesterday, our server seemed really apathetic about the quality of her service. maybe she'd had a bad day, or felt poorly. I understand that. but she would walk through the patio and obviously not check on her tables. Her lack of eye contact was noticeable. I ordered herbal iced tea and it too a long time to get it and I wasn't sure if i would get it. then i waited a long time for the waitress to notice me and gave her the "more tea please" gesture. So, for $3, I get 1.5 glasses of ice tea.
In hindsight we should have eaten outside, for a much more informal vibe. But food taste presentation and innovation all great.
We had a lovely and delicious meal here. We can see why Laughing Seed is the number one vegetarian restaurant in Asheville, and possibly, in North Carolina!
Food was great but waitress had the personality of a seed and it was not laughing.
Very enjoyable as always food value, portion size,
Returned after a number of years and found the food to be just as good as we remembered!
I used open table to book reservation online for 3 at 815pm at 735pm I submitted my request.
when we got there the hostess said we did not have a reservation because we did it on too short of notice (why did web site allow it???). It was a busy night but she sat us to wait and forgot us and seated multiple parties before us. I had be assertive after 30 minutes to get a table knowing the L. SSeed was closing at 9pm . The waitress was helpful but then the menu choice was complicated by a long list of items no longer available in the kitchen. FOOD was okay and waitress very accomodating with the information.
but why accept a booking when it is too late??
