Latin Bites Ratings and Reviews
Wow! What a Find! Latin Bites is not only a perfect neighborhood restaurant, it serves very authentic South American food. My wife and I lived in Venezuela for three years and recently traveled to Peru so we know good food from there. Pisco Sours--perfect! Tequenos--authentic! The fried yucca and sweet baked plantains were delicious--perhaps the best in the Houston area. The service was excellent. And Wednesday nights wine bottles are half off!
One of our favorite neighborhood gems continues to go downhill & appears to be cutting costs at the expense of the customer which will only make things worse. We reserved an outdoor table only to be told they were "working on the patio." when we arrive. No evidence of that & only 1 other party in the restaurant at 6 PM. Server said after we ordered them that short rib tacos had been removed from the happy hour menu & "they haven't given us a new one." Suggested the beef tenderloin tacos on regular menu for twice the price -- no comparison. Good news is that the red wine is still kept at cellar temp but there are too many other good places to keep this at the top of the list. Very sad.
There is no other restaurant like this in Houston! Owned and managed by a Peruvian family, you can tell that they take pride in their culture and the quality of the food they serve. Every course was an amazing blend of unique ingredients that made me want to try every dish. I will definitely be back!
I have been coming to this restaurante for the past five years and have enjoyed the variety of dishes they have changed throughout the years. Peruvian cuisine with a modern take is their specialty which they do so well. I prefer the empanadas which are done from scratch and the ceviche which is Devine .
The food was absolutely delicious! Only issue was that it was very warm on our side of the restaurant. It was steamy outside from the rain and heat and it felt muggy where we were seated. We asked the waiter to turn the ac down (which they did) and it seemed to get a little better. Will most definitely be back for the food!
Latin Bites is never disappointing, excellent service and food. The octopus was excellent, the Quinoa wrap delicious, authentic Peruvian food. Although their AC was very cold to the point that we considered leaving because we were so cold. We did mention it and they did change the temperature and after a while we were able to enjoy our experience.
Since visiting Peru late last year, I had been looking for a place in Houston to get food that was at least similar to what I ate in Barranco, Lima and Cusco, Peru. Latin Bites is amazing. The Cebiche's were outstanding, the seafood dishes were delicious, fresh, and very well presented. I can't wait to go back for another round of authentic Peruvian dishes. So good.
We were pleasantly surprised how good the food was. The ceviche was great. We went there at lunch time, started with appetizers that we shared together soup, ceviche, grilled octopus and empanadas. They were all delicious. We had lamb shanks for main course, equally delicious. For dessert we had chocolate cake and tres leches. The entire meal was great, we will definitely come back. Our server Andre was great too.
