L'Atelier d'Argentine Downtown Ratings and Reviews
Great ambiance. MTL a la table menu was great and quickly served. We both took lamb empanadas which were amazing, and chocolate flan, which was surprisingly good despite the fact that I am usually not a fan of that type of texture. For the main course, I took steak with potato salad. The steak was good but the potato salad was WOW. My partner took the salmon plate which neither of us would recommend. Overall, great date night!
High prices and want to be fancy atmosphere but by hiring untrained service staff they can't keep up the imagine thry would like to create for this restaurant and make sure that first time customers will never come back. I think the place was only relatively full because they had a special offer as part of MTL a table: 3 course meal for 31$ including an option to have a hanger steak as main dish.
We went to this restaurant with friends from Argentina and the food that was supposely representing their country was less than disapointing. The waiter did not bring the bread until the End of our meal, the mixed grill had only beef and sausage. The vegetarian milanesa was a brick of polenta with some sauce on top. Nothing had any taste. Cost was about 40$ pp (food only) and we left hungry.
They charge $50 for an allegedly Argentinian 12 Oz rib eye.
I ordered it rare.
What I got after a terribly long wait was visibly less than 10 Oz and was medium well.
The compensation was a $6 dessert .
I also ordered an old fashioned, hard to discern what was in there besides water, even after it was allegedly "fixed" .
Not to mention service was terribly slow.
Had one of the best Bottomless Mimosas experience ever. Love the fact that they actually leave the bottle with you and you're in charge of the mixing. The food was actually quite good, a little on the small portions, but it was good. Will definitely come back when visiting Montreal. Such a shame that their Old Montreal location closed down-- had a great charm.
Waitress wasn't very attentive to our needs. She wouldn't ask if we wanted more drinks, we would speak to her in English and she would respond in French. My date was from Toronto so I always had to translate.
Plus We were sitting on the terrace and too many bugs.
Awesome time. First time visiting to montreal wirh family from Argentina. Needed a place to feel.like home. Coming from the hospitality background in hotels and restaurant. Impressed with swift service from Alex our waiter/bartender and as well as Mariano. Food was delicious. Just a minor misinformation on the required 15% tip on top of bill. In montreal they really push this but in toronto its optional. Which caught us by surprised but was willing to pay more than 15% because alex was great.
The service was severely lacking. When I go downtown at 8 pm on a Saturday night, I expect a restaurant to be fully staffed and ready to serve.
We stood 5 minutes at the hostess desk before being acknowledged. After being seated for 10 minutes, we got up to find someone just to bring us water. That person was unable to answer questions about the menu and days she'd send our waiter. 10 minutes more and we got up, found the manager who comped us drinks and sent a waiter to take our order (we were later charged a coke refill)
Once the food was served, no one checked on us or refilled our water.
The braised beef ribs were nearly 50% fat. The food was otherwise pretty tasty, but not worth being totally ignored.
We went there for a bachelorette party. The atmosphere is good and its in downtown... but service was slow and we dont feel much attention... I orderded a short ribs from the main menu, the meat was really dry:('my friend took the grilled short ribs which tasted better... good location and easy to reserve for a group!
It was good but not special. The Argentian steak I ordered was very expensive and it was just a good steak nothing more. Not nearly worth the 50$ I paid for it. I was expecting something spectacular and it just turned out to be a plain grilled steak. The side dishes were very good and so were the empanadas. But there was something lacking in the ambiance (not that busy for a Saturday night). Also in my opinion, the photo gallery is misleading. I thought the decor would be more impressive. It was actually a very casual restaurant - not fancy at all. Good but not memorable.
