Another St Pats night in an Italian Restautant. Very good the veal chop special done to perfection. Great evening with a crowd of happy people. Loved it b
We absolutely loved our dinner. Friends were in town for a conference and we wanted a place with excellent food and quiet enough for great conversation. Our only negative was sitting beside a group that was INCREDIBLY LOUD! Shrieking, screaming, and horrible language. I mean they had a good time, but were wildly inappropriate. We loved the restaurant and probably should have asked to move. Definitely will go back and look out for wild parties!!!
Always wonderful food and service.
We thought the restaurant would be pricey given its location but we were pleasantly surprised at how reasonable the prices were. We are not big eaters and had no place to store leftovers. We were able to split our salad and our pasta since the portions are very generous. Our waiter was very accommodating. Everything was absolutely delicious.
They were great! We will definitely be back
Horrible service waiter was all over the place but our table and didn’t even tell us specials . Food was awesome and drinks. Bar was nice too we’ll be back maybe sit at bar instead
Philadelphia Flower Show
Have reviewed previously; still very good
All was good. I just think I expected more. I should have ordered something more exciting than a chopped salad.
Excellent eggplant starter, anroncini starter and sausage/broccoli rabe starter.
Everything was under-salted. Not a big deal, just that most restaurants don't put salt and pepper on the table any more, and La Scala's is no exception.
Nice warm pizza dough rolls.
Veal saltimbocca--the meat was very tough. I would have sent it back if it was my entree.
Solid gin gimlet.
have often visited the restaurant. i have an annual subscription to the walnut street theater and usually book a reservation at the restaurant prior to attending the show. also have entertained friends for a good dinner and conversation.
Always a pleasure
La Scala is a consistently good dining experience. Everything we have ever eaten here is delicious and nicely presented. We come often after going to the Walnut Street Theatre. A Walnut Street subscriber' discount ad complimentary parking are additional incentives for dining at La Scala.
I can ALWAYS count on a delicious meal, awesome cocktails, & excellent service....a neighborhood gem that you should definitely try....one of the BEST!
Excellent as always. Love the food. Service was good.
Great place, great service!
They could accommodate a table for 8, but they are overpriced for what they are. I wish they made the pasta from scratch.
I asked for two things not on the menu, a cold caprese salad and gnocchi. The server Luigi said no problem, I’m make that for you. First time I had made to order food. And it was simply great. We had a great evening at LaScala and we’ll be back. Could not want better
Terrific. Never disappoints. Will definitely go back again!
My mom and I loved the lunch menu! We had the hardest time deciding which item to choose. We both got the grilled ribeye sandwich which was absolutely delicious. We will definitely come back again to try the rest of the lunch menu.
This place was absolutely awesome! We arrived about an hour earlier than expected and wanted to see if we could be seated earlier than our reservation had said. Unfortunately, they had a private party in the next room and could not seat us any earlier. The hostess kindly recommended we hang out at the bar while we wait for our table but it was so packed that we decided to check out another bar across the street while we waited. Once it was our reservation time, we were seated without delay. The food was delicious and the portions were HUGE! I ordered the filet mignon and babe got the chicken parm. We shared calamari and mussels white for our appetizers. The atmosphere was awesome and the huge street windows were beautiful. The place is a little on the more expensive side but the portions definitely make up for it! Definitely a great date night place. Will go again!
Great food. Never a disappointment.
First time visiting the establishment which turned out to be for Valentine's Day. Couldn't have been more pleased. The food was outstanding and the atmosphere was well received. Will definitely visit in the future!
Great staff. Great time. Highly recommend
Great! This place was awesome - went here for Valentine’s Day. It was very enjoyable!
My favorite restaurant in Old City. The chicken parm is the best in Philadelphia! Highly recommend it!
Whenever we are in Philadelphia, we make sure to dine at LaScala. Always a relaxing occasion with a varied menu and good food. The staff is very accommodating and does not rush you. Highly recommended.
The food was pretty awful, the lump crab was from a can, everything smelled fishy. The meatballs were bland, as was everything else to be honest. And SO expensive for what we got... NEVER again!! And service was awful, although it seemed he was apathetic as he knew what he was serving was awful. Seriously... not worth even giving it a shot.
I've been there several times. Always good service and good food. The food is generously portioned (too big for me--always end up taking home) so great for people who like a bigger meal. Yesterday, met my son there and had a nice little city reunion since he lives in the city and I do business there regularly.
Good place to eat good pizza or salads. Good wine also.
Nicely executed classic Italian menu. Professional service, comfortable atmosphere. Will be tagging for future visits. Highly recommended, can accommodate larger parties.
What I liked about this restaurant is that it is beneath a large building with free parking. You can just pull into the lot and get your parking ticket validated at the desk at LaScala's after you eat. What a great idea. No excuses for not eating down town. Great food and ambiance.
My husband was entertaining a business associate. I felt like the service was not very good. It was early on a Saturday, so not very busy. The waiter never offered parmesan cheese or pepper, which is unusual for an Italian restaurant. We had to ask for both. I got the linguine with clam sauce and found it to be extremely bland. It basically tasted like pasta and clams and no sauce. Very disappointed for the price.
I recently brought my friends from New York here and they loved it! The portions where huge !! We all had lunch for the next day! Would recommend!!
Good food and good service! Nice wine selection. The food portions were perfect! The only problem was the waiting time. It was also restaurant week. therefore, not sure if this happens on a regular week.
Food was delicious! From appetizers to the dessert everything was perfect! Would definitely come back again and refer to friends!
We went to the restaurant prior to going to Walnut Street Theatre. We wound up all choosing restaurant week, and were very pleased. The food portions were substantial and everyone was very happy with their selections, from appetizers to dessert. I highly recommend the restaurant.
Dinner and service were excellent! I came home with a box which always a plus and parking in the lot was completely free with a complementary pass from La Scala.
Seated almost immediately, great seat (no traffic interference, near window, close to other patrons but far enough away, etc). THE FOOD WAS GREAT! The service was fair. My only concern, because I have never experienced it before, was the disposal of the majority of my meal. I concluded because I did not eat the majority of my meal on location, it would be automatically prepared 'to go', since it was not offered. So I was floored to learn after dessert that the food was trashed! To be clear, I did NOT ask for my food 'to go' either and he did apologize. I don't know if it is the establishments process or the server but I will know for next time. The food was great enough for this not to be a deterrent. I had been there before...yes, I had a 'to go' bag :)
We were here for restaurant week, and both the food and service were top notch! The lobster ravioli was AMAZING; we also loved the creme brûlée cake. For appetizers we did baked caprese, baked eggplant, and arancini balls- highly recommend all of those, too!
