Loved it! Chicken parm was amazing and so was our server Jim! Tasted even better than some of the food I had in Italy.
Great place to go after the theater. The food was excellent and it was a wonderful experience not being rushed out of the place that i feel is the new normal at some restaurants today. Looking forward to returning soon.
I had a part of 8, we had to wait 20 minutes even thought we had a reservation but they made t up to us with a free glass of champagne. The service wS excellent, the food delicious, and the private room we were sat in, perfect!
When we ate, we were two families visiting from out of a town. We were breaking bread together to celebrate the engagement of our kids. They had room for our group of 9 and handled the orders with aplomb. We had a wonderful time and a memorable evening.
Fantastic good and lovely atmosphere. I had the rigatoni vodka and my husband the fusilli with seafood. Absolutely amazing! And the balsamic/oil for dipping in bread is delicious. We will definitely be making this our go to for Italian.
First time diner. Only glitch: we asked to be moved after the hostess wanted to seat us in the blinding sun. She told us all the empty tables around us were reserved. Knowing how OT allows for floor plotting, this was off-putting. Food/service very good. Huge portions. Sergio was our server and offered some great suggestions. We had the lasagna and chicken alla romana.
Great location for us tourists. Staff were friendly. Food was ok. Almost like they were pre ready made.
Had the veal Marsala over linguini. Veal was tough. There was a mound of linguini underneath which was good but should’ve been on the side. Appetizer of portabella and zucchini was good. My gf had grouper which she liked a lot. Service was very good. Points off for the high school girls clomping around in high heels like lemmings. They were really cute though.
It is a comfortable restaurant, it wasn't very crowded or noisy this past Friday night.
We asked to split a LaScalla chopped salad. The waiter placed it between us, but he didn't bring 2 plates. Not sure if he expected us to use our bread plates - because they had bread on them. But he quickly brought additional plates after they were requested.
I had the Chicken San Remo, excellent dish, very tasty. My only complaint was that the pieces of crabmeat sprinkled on top were cold, even though they were covered with sauce.
My husband had the veal saltimbuca, which he enjoyed, but felt it needed some parmesan sprinkled on top.
We used our Walnut Street Theater season ticket holder discount.
good location before show at Walnut Street Theater
Menu was terrific and food almost lived up to it. Service was slow and indifferent, which really brought the whole experience down to a very average evening
WE've been going to LaScala for a number of years and we've always had a great dinner/lunch.
This time was not the same. We ordered the chopped salad and it was 1/2 the size of what we normally get. Hardly any meat or cheese. We told our waiter and I believe he told the manager. Our waiter said he was sorry. We also ordered a pizza which took forever because "the pizza person" dropped it and had to make a new one. Anyone can make a mistake I have no problem with that . Our waiter told us after we waited for about 20 minutes. when the pizza finally arrived it wasn't even hot. All the toppings came off as soon as we took a bite. Our waiter was very nice and took the pizza off our check. Not a good experience. Manager should have come over and said something? Not very nice if it would have been our first time there....needless to say it will be a long time before we go back. Sorry LaScala!!!!
Loud, tasty and plentiful
Great service and food. We were in town for a kid's sporting event and both the parents and kids enjoyed themselves.
Quick friendly service. Nice big booth plenty of room not squeezed in. Great time and the food was very very good!
Very ice place to eat. We went with a group of 9 adults. Food was delicious and reasonably priced. Noise level was good, we were able to have conversations with out any issues. Location is great. I will definitely recommend.
Corine was our server and she was absolutely wonderful.
Visiting from out of town always gives you an anxiety attack about where to get a decent dinner. LaScala is now at the top of my list to visit when in Philly. It was absolutely the best!! 💕
Server was slow and inattentive. Food was good.
Always a great meal. We ordered the chopped salad which is my favorite salad. We also had the octopus salad which was delicious. It also had chick peas. We shared the salmon entree with asparagus and that was amazing. A delicious dinner.
My husband and I have eaten here 5-6 times now. The food is always outstanding and so is our server. But the hostess is always rude. Always. We have reservations but if we ask to sit anywhere else, they tell us the whole restaurant is filled and we have to sit here... when we leave 90 minutes later, half the restaurant is still empty. We were told- take it or leave it, tonight. Disgrace.
Great as always! Perfect for pre- theatre and the server also gave us after dinner drinks gratis!
Excellent food at very reasonable prices for Center City Restaurant. Good happy hour and great appetizers from 4-7. Highly recommend. Lamb chops were excellent.
First time trying LaScala’s. While the food items were large portions, nothing we had offer outstanding flavor, particularly at the price. The service was not up to expections. With all the Italian restaurants in Philly, there’s no reason to return.
Wonderful experience! Loved the lasagne and the delicious bread at the beginning.
I did not know what the quality of the food would be since they had spaces for large reservations on a Saturday night, but boy was I pleasantly surprised!!!! The food was great and we had a wonderful time. Would not recommend the octupus salad for a starter though.
Another St Pats night in an Italian Restautant. Very good the veal chop special done to perfection. Great evening with a crowd of happy people. Loved it b
Food was delicious. Sausage and peppers appetizer was so good, and the veal and chicken parm were delicious. Everything was great except for out server Luigi. He spent more time entertaining another table and forgot about us. I finished my entree before he came over and asked how everything was. Besides him, the place was great. We will definitely go back next time we are in town.
We absolutely loved our dinner. Friends were in town for a conference and we wanted a place with excellent food and quiet enough for great conversation. Our only negative was sitting beside a group that was INCREDIBLY LOUD! Shrieking, screaming, and horrible language. I mean they had a good time, but were wildly inappropriate. We loved the restaurant and probably should have asked to move. Definitely will go back and look out for wild parties!!!
Always wonderful food and service.
We thought the restaurant would be pricey given its location but we were pleasantly surprised at how reasonable the prices were. We are not big eaters and had no place to store leftovers. We were able to split our salad and our pasta since the portions are very generous. Our waiter was very accommodating. Everything was absolutely delicious.
They were great! We will definitely be back
Horrible service waiter was all over the place but our table and didn’t even tell us specials . Food was awesome and drinks. Bar was nice too we’ll be back maybe sit at bar instead
Philadelphia Flower Show
Have reviewed previously; still very good
All was good. I just think I expected more. I should have ordered something more exciting than a chopped salad.
Excellent eggplant starter, anroncini starter and sausage/broccoli rabe starter.
Everything was under-salted. Not a big deal, just that most restaurants don't put salt and pepper on the table any more, and La Scala's is no exception.
Nice warm pizza dough rolls.
Veal saltimbocca--the meat was very tough. I would have sent it back if it was my entree.
Solid gin gimlet.
have often visited the restaurant. i have an annual subscription to the walnut street theater and usually book a reservation at the restaurant prior to attending the show. also have entertained friends for a good dinner and conversation.
Always a pleasure
La Scala is a consistently good dining experience. Everything we have ever eaten here is delicious and nicely presented. We come often after going to the Walnut Street Theatre. A Walnut Street subscriber' discount ad complimentary parking are additional incentives for dining at La Scala.
I can ALWAYS count on a delicious meal, awesome cocktails, & excellent service....a neighborhood gem that you should definitely try....one of the BEST!
