LaScala's Birra Restaurant
We were a party of six on unseasonably warm evening. There were many available outdoor tables, which we requested but they stated we were too big a party. We were seated by the door/counter which was not ideal. The kitchen had run out of cured tomatoes for the margarita pizza which was surprising given that must be a more commonly ordered pizza. Fried egg on truffle pizza overcooked, so no runny yoke. Pizza was good, but not outstandingly better than other city options. It took a long time to get beer orders.
Sad to see this spot is now owned by a chain.
Terrible food high prices
First time taking ALL the kids out- two 3 year olds, a 10 month old, and a 6 month old!!! Food was great, pizza and meatball app. Everything came out quick too, which is helpful with all the babies... the biggest problem is the fact that you’re a pizza restaurant, knowing there will be tons of kids coming thru the place and there are NO changing tables. Not good.
The food was amazing! Our server was very nice and attentive but our meal took close to 2 hours because of how slow thr kitchen and the bar was. Even so, we definitely will be going back because the food was great.
I had never been to this restaurant so thought we should try it for restaurant week. I have to say the food was outstanding (salty but good) . What was not good was that we got our appetizers immediately and then waited over an hour for our food! everyone around us was eating, even people who got in after us. No one came up to us to say anything. I had to seek out our waitress and she kept giving us excuses. It was frustrating and I should have talked to a manager. THey did not even say, Here is a free dessert for your troubles. Just NOT right. Needless to say, I was very disappointed.
It was restaurant week, we wanted to check out the passyunk area. Every meal from the appetizer to the dessert was a 10/10.
We've now gone twice, once for restaurant week, and loved it both times. The restaurant week menu is a real deal - they give you full portions. The arrancini and seafood fra diavolo were especially awesome.
Restaurant week was pretty decent! Only qualm was a really annoying child behind us who was very loud.
Amazing! The food was so damn good! As was the service!
Went for restaurant week and ran out of a few items on the menu (of course the items I wanted to order) and one of my friend's dinners were a little cold. Short staffed that night but overall was a great night with god food.
Food took a long time to come out. We were sitting upstairs so service was slow. Took a while to get drink refilled.
Food was fantastic. Service was excellent. Can't wait to go back.
Perfect dinner before the stadium series game
My husband took our daughter there for a very special valentines date. It was awesome. She loved every thing about the place and they both loved the food. Thank you for making her night so perfect!
Very good food and service. Good for friends get together and family dining.
The food was wonderful. We had the meatball trio , they were so good., the best I’ve had at a restaurant. I loved how they plated the meatball on delicious ricotta cheese . The mussels were great and the margarita pizza was awesome, made with ricotta and Mozzarella fresh basil and chunks of ripe red tomatoes. Wonderful I look forward to going again
We love coming here for Friday night pizza!
Great spot, but we were seated upstairs which had a bunch of very loud small children. Sit downstairs for a better ambiance.
What a great Italian restaurant. We stopped there for dinner before a 76ers game. It’s a gem
Great food and service! My family and I really enjoyed ourselves.
First time visitor. Nice ambiance. Great beer selection. Had the calzone which was huge and excellent. Also tasted the Brussels sprout and fired artichoke apps which also were excellent. Would repeat.
Had a wonderful birthday dinner for my son. Great beers on tap , great wine and the food was fantastic. Our server was so attentive and offered us a round of shots for the birthday boy! Thank you !
I planned a surprise for my boyfriend and we had a group of 10 people. Our server (I do not know his name) was fantastic. We were seated upstairs and had the floor to ourselves. Everyone was pleased with their food, and the service was wonderful - his upbeat attitude was something you don't see often! We will be back. <3.
My family and I keep coming back to Birra during our annual Christmas break (we wish we had time to come in to S Philly more often). Birra’s food and service is always outstanding! This visit they gave our kids dough balls to play with, which was extremely nice of them, and the kids had so much fun playing with them. We love their great craft beer selection and we always have trouble deciding which 2 pizzas to get...they are all so amazing!
Very nice place. Good service. Food was good.
My husband and I stopped here for dinner for a concert in Philadelphia. We were running late for our reservation time and we hit traffic coming in to the city and they were very accommodating in pushing back our reservation. Once we arrived, we were seated immediately and had our food within 20 minutes of being seated. The shared a salad, meatballs and a pizza and the food was fresh and delicious. We were on our way to the concert in no time. A great experience. The seating is a bit tight in the downstairs but they did have an upstairs and we didn’t see that. Otherwise a great spot!
Always great for a larger group get together, and our waiter, Dario, was incredibly helpful and friendly. Good pizza and great beer options and a nice upstairs space away from the bar.
Good food and ambiance. The ricotta cheese appetizer is delicious.
Delicious food and excellent service. I would recommend to everyone.
Wonderful food and service!
First time dining there. Great piano gricio and pizza.
Decent and good value. Lots of beers. Accommodated a large party easily.
Had a great time! Solid place! Loved the mussels and Seafood Diavolo!
Bomb food and a fun area of the city! I will definitely be back to try more things on the menu!
Truly delicious food and beer! Will be back for sure!
This was first time to LaScala on Passyunk, we had been to one in Pennsauken - both equally great. Everything was fantastic on this visit! ... Great beer, excellent appetizers (we had many), and delicious pizzas (we had one red and one white). Service was perfect. We were celebrating a birthday among the party of four and the environment was great for that. Thank you. We will be back.
Service was great!! Food was delicious!!! Love the ricotta board 😍 wish we could have taken it home with us!! Terrific dinner! Thanks!
Food and service both excellent-only downside is noise level
