LaScala's Birra Restaurant
My husband took our daughter there for a very special valentines date. It was awesome. She loved every thing about the place and they both loved the food. Thank you for making her night so perfect!
Very good food and service. Good for friends get together and family dining.
The food was wonderful. We had the meatball trio , they were so good., the best I’ve had at a restaurant. I loved how they plated the meatball on delicious ricotta cheese . The mussels were great and the margarita pizza was awesome, made with ricotta and Mozzarella fresh basil and chunks of ripe red tomatoes. Wonderful I look forward to going again
We love coming here for Friday night pizza!
Great spot, but we were seated upstairs which had a bunch of very loud small children. Sit downstairs for a better ambiance.
What a great Italian restaurant. We stopped there for dinner before a 76ers game. It’s a gem
Great food and service! My family and I really enjoyed ourselves.
First time visitor. Nice ambiance. Great beer selection. Had the calzone which was huge and excellent. Also tasted the Brussels sprout and fired artichoke apps which also were excellent. Would repeat.
Had a wonderful birthday dinner for my son. Great beers on tap , great wine and the food was fantastic. Our server was so attentive and offered us a round of shots for the birthday boy! Thank you !
I planned a surprise for my boyfriend and we had a group of 10 people. Our server (I do not know his name) was fantastic. We were seated upstairs and had the floor to ourselves. Everyone was pleased with their food, and the service was wonderful - his upbeat attitude was something you don't see often! We will be back. <3.
My family and I keep coming back to Birra during our annual Christmas break (we wish we had time to come in to S Philly more often). Birra’s food and service is always outstanding! This visit they gave our kids dough balls to play with, which was extremely nice of them, and the kids had so much fun playing with them. We love their great craft beer selection and we always have trouble deciding which 2 pizzas to get...they are all so amazing!
Very nice place. Good service. Food was good.
My husband and I stopped here for dinner for a concert in Philadelphia. We were running late for our reservation time and we hit traffic coming in to the city and they were very accommodating in pushing back our reservation. Once we arrived, we were seated immediately and had our food within 20 minutes of being seated. The shared a salad, meatballs and a pizza and the food was fresh and delicious. We were on our way to the concert in no time. A great experience. The seating is a bit tight in the downstairs but they did have an upstairs and we didn’t see that. Otherwise a great spot!
Always great for a larger group get together, and our waiter, Dario, was incredibly helpful and friendly. Good pizza and great beer options and a nice upstairs space away from the bar.
Good food and ambiance. The ricotta cheese appetizer is delicious.
Delicious food and excellent service. I would recommend to everyone.
Wonderful food and service!
First time dining there. Great piano gricio and pizza.
Decent and good value. Lots of beers. Accommodated a large party easily.
Had a great time! Solid place! Loved the mussels and Seafood Diavolo!
Bomb food and a fun area of the city! I will definitely be back to try more things on the menu!
Truly delicious food and beer! Will be back for sure!
This was first time to LaScala on Passyunk, we had been to one in Pennsauken - both equally great. Everything was fantastic on this visit! ... Great beer, excellent appetizers (we had many), and delicious pizzas (we had one red and one white). Service was perfect. We were celebrating a birthday among the party of four and the environment was great for that. Thank you. We will be back.
Service was great!! Food was delicious!!! Love the ricotta board 😍 wish we could have taken it home with us!! Terrific dinner! Thanks!
Food and service both excellent-only downside is noise level
Normally I'd give this place a 4 stars for being convenient enough with decent food, but this past Friday night I had a poor experience at Birra's. I made a reservation for a group of 11 of friends. 5-10 minutes after the food came out, one of my friend's meal still hadn't, so I let the server know. He did not apologize but then instead said it would be out in 5 minutes because it's prepared at a different kitchen. Another 25 minutes went by before his food came out when the server said, "hope it's worth the wait." Still no apology (and no, it wasn't worth the wait). I did expect that portion of the meal to be comped since everyone else at the table was done eating and it's awkward for 1 person to sit there eating alone. But alas. Poor customer service.
A little expensive. I don't go to the city that often, so it might be the norm. The food was different and good, but I wouldn't say overwhelming. Nice place. Felt comfortable and relaxing.
The food is fantastic but the service sort of spotty. Due I think to noise level the waiters couldn’t hear requests so took 5 times to get water, 1 of which brought more wine , and food was delivered unevenly. The person who had a salad and the one with a Stromboli had their dinners 10 minutes before the pizza arrived and then another 5 minutes wait for the entree orders. It is a casual spot but needs a little help in managing the flow. Regardless of timing, food when it’s received is really good!
Meh. The food was delicious but overpriced and the ambience is college bar, not restaurant. I hear their happy hours deals are good, but this was not at all worth making a reservation for.
Food was nothing amazing. Like so many places, poor service ruins everything else.
Really good food and service and the price was excellent. Will definitely return.
Seating was a bit slow even with a reservation. Restaurant is very loud but the food is fantasic. Good time!
Dario our server was very attentive and explained any dish we ask questions about. Very nice experience. I will be trying
La scala on cooper river very soon.
Very good! Loved the steamed clams white!
Birra's always been great! Love their pizzas. The extended family was in town and this was the perfect place to take them.
Late lunch on a Saturday was fantastic. As we were midday it was not crowded so I hope the fantastic service levels continue during peak hours. The food was excellent starting with rolled eggplant filled with ricotta, through several different salads into our entrees. Highly recommended is the short rib ravioli.
Our server, Dario, was very attentive and his recommendations were spot on. One of the owners was there overseeing everything but he also took the time to make sure everything was to our satisfaction. We will definitely be returning. The Location on E. Passyunk Avenue perfect, with lots of shops and restaurants.as Parking availability is okay considering where you are.
I had my birthday dinner there on a Tuesday. We brought our new born son planning on eating outside, but it started pouring and were forced to eat inside. They could not have been more accommodating for me and my family. It is a great addition to the Passyunk restaurants. Good is excellent and prices are reasonable.
Very noisy downstairs & waitress was obviously too busy to attend to us. I’d get more staff or teach the current staff how to multitask.
My cousin recommended the restaurant. She is a great Italian cook so I took her advice for a night out with my best friend. We are noth South Philly natives and it takes a lot to impress. Excellent on all fronts, from a cocktails to dessert. If I have a complaint, it was that the portions were large enough to serve two of us. I can not wait to go back. Meatballs were as good as my grandmother's and that is high prsise. Try the crispy artichokes. A treat!
