Seating outdoor is better than indoor!
Great night sitting outside with friends! Heaters and fireplace were wonderful and helped to make the overall experience cozy, yet safe!
Meatball salad is awesome. Also the s’more calzone is worth the calories
The food is an interesting Italian offering. Tasty, casual but with some subtle additions that make it special. The location is so relaxing and beautiful especially at sunset. John who is outdoor bartender and was our server tonight so attentive and can explain the food and wine options so we understood how things would taste together. He is special as the location.
Really nice night by the river with an excellent outdoor seating option. The server was extremely nice and our food was perfect. Highly recommend the salad and duck cheesesteak!
This is my 3rd visit to this restaurant. We ordered from among the starters, their Calamari. It was nicely breaded and cooked. It arrived at the sametime as our specialty Bira Pizza so we did not get to enjoy the Calamari while it was hot. Their specialty Pizzas are wonderful. They are thin crust pies with plenty of toppings.
My only complaint is that the "starter" was over priced. It cost as much as our specialty pizza which was between $14 and $16 each.
Best LaScala’s Fries ever
Amazing outdoor lunch in the beer garden area over looking the river. Food and cocktails were amazing as always!
I have been to several other LaScalas restaurant locations in NJ and Philly and have had wonderful dining experiences. Unfortunately the service at LaScalas Birra was not up to the standards of their other restaurants. The wait time between ordering drinks and food was extremely longer than usual, even though it was not overly crowded or busy. Our waitress came to check on us three times, two of those times being for our drink and food order. Oftentimes she was on her phone over behind the outdoor bar talking to other guests. Being a fan of LaScalas, this experience was disheartening compared to others I’ve had.
Great outdoor dining experience. Family friendly. Will go back
Great service, views, and food. Moderately priced with moderate portions and great taste.
Friendly, attentive service. It was cold outside (our choice to dine outdoors) but that did not keep the servers from checking on us. Food was fine. It did come out very quickly. For a quick-casual Italian dinner, it was a good choice. Nice beer selection at inexpensive prices. The pour on the glass of red wine was like 2 glasses worth at many places. All of the Lascala's are consistently good.
It was a magical late October sunset. Service was so nice and friendly. Pizzas and salad so tasty. Cannoli we shared was delicious. Hope fall dining outside can continue.
I’ve been here twice now during Covid-19. The service was good both times however this time the waitress was maybe a little too attentive lol came to our table like 3 times asking if we were ready to order (didn’t give us enough time to look at the menu) but she was still nice. My favorite thing about this place is how fast the food comes out! I had dinner with a friend in under an hour. We ordered the cheesesteak eggrolls and 2 pasta dishes. The eggrolls laid on a bed of cheese wiz type of sauce. Would get them again. The gnocchi was just okay and the Ricotta Tortellini was just ok. Wouldn’t get either again. However, last time I got the seafood Linguini and omg delicious (has a bit of spice). The worst thing about this place is their dishes are dirty. Each time I went plates and cups that were already sitting out had so much gunk and food particles on them. Disgusting to think that during covid their utensils aren’t thoroughly cleaned. The prices aren’t bad but they are a little high for the quality of food.
I want to start off by saying that the food was delicious. But me and everyone in my party were very disappointed with the service that we received. I made a reservation 2 weeks prior and was not given the option of indoor or outdoor seating so I just assumed that the reservation would be made for indoor at the end of October. However, when we arrived to dinner, we were sat outside without an option to sit inside although the restaurant is open for indoor seating as well (just with limited capacity). We were sat on the deck in an area that was not covered by the tent and there were no heat lamps so it got pretty chilly sitting by the river at night.
In terms of the service, everything that we ordered from appetizers to entrees came out at different times. Our server did not come back to check on us for drinks or to check on the food once it came out. I am not a complainer and never write reviews on places but was overall underwhelmed with the service offered.
The food was great though and I am willing to try it again... Maybe it was just a busy night or the particular server we had was having an off night.
Food was good. Britany was our server. She’s so personable and patient that we had a good dining experience.
Amazing location overlooking the Cooper River.
The red Sangria was very good and would highly recommend!
We had three appetizers to share,
Cheese/salami board was excellent.
Cesar salad with salmon was okay/good. Greens were fresh but not enough garlic or salt, very bland for a Cesar. I thought the salmon was prefect but someone else with me thought it was dry.
Baked eggplant was outstanding!
Our server Tim was awesome!
Consistently solid. Great food, terrific specialty cocktails, nice ambience.
Very fast service and pretty scenery
The restaurant was very nice. The staff was polite and helpful. Unfortunately, the food was low quality. The pizzas were good but not great. The appetizers and some other entrees tasted like they were frozen food, and then heated up. We won't be coming back, unfortunately.
Our server Alexis (or Lexi, not sure) was fabulous and very attentive. Got the order for 6 people exactly right. Service was quick and excellent! Food was very good. We had the shrimp fra diavlo, salmon, birra pie 4 cheese, artichoke app, cheesesteak egg rolls and all were delish! The calamari was not my favorite but it wasn't bad. Espresso martini was also good! We will def be back!
Will was an excellent waiter. Service was well timed and pleasant.
The best part of this restaurant is the ability to dine outside, with a nice view and socially distant from folks. The pizza is delicious; I did find the gnocchi to be sub-par. It came out with 5 mins of ordering it, and tasted like it was sitting in a warming container. It wasn’t hot at all. But the pizza was delicious and hot. Cocktails & beer were good too!
We were so pleasantly surprised at just how great the food, service and overall experience was. We had a table outside but it had gotten quite breezy snd cold when the sun went down that we decided to ask if we could sit in a socially-distanced table inside. They were more than happy to accommodate. We will be back. I predict a great future for this restaurant.
Salads need to be larger for the cost. Salad I ordered was not what I expected and would not order this again.
The outdoor eating area was very nice next to the Cooper River. Service was wonderful and the food was amazing.
We had a quiet anniversary lunch inside 😍😋
It wasnt as good as other times. Service was below average. Our meals came out over a 20 min time frame. Drinks were very small for full price. Glad this wasnt my first impression or I would not be going back.
Main meals came out at different times. Drinks were on the light side. Service was very slow and outside was cold.
The view is amazing. It is on the cooper river and the food is very good.
View of the lake is beautiful, server was OK, but I couldn't overlook the food. It was awful. Chicken Parm sandwich was rubbery. My husband wasn't pleased with his lasagna and barely touched it.
They completely ignored us! At first, we were pleasantly greeted and seated by the hostess. Our waitress came and took our order. We got our drinks and appetizers from her and never heard from her again. Seriously. Our entrees were served about 7 minutes apart by two different people. No one cleared our appetizer plates. Our waitress never asked if we wanted another round of drinks, never stopped by to see how our food was. We were completely left alone. It was our anniversary (which we put on our reservation) and we just wanted to enjoy ourselves, but we were left very disappointed by the service. I think she literally forgot about us, and then awkwardly, sheepishly stopped by when she noticed us on her way back from another table. Also, no one seemed to be in charge of this place whatsoever. We were compelled to leave no tip at all, but settled on 12% because we know times are hard and didn't want the bus staff to get completely stiffed. Gotta admit, I felt foolish for doing that. Not a great feeling when you're walking out of a restaurant. We really enjoyed the Marlton location, but will never return to this one. Lastly, hats off to kitchen staff. The food was amazing!
What a pleasant experience. We sat outside as the sun set, looking at the Cooper River. Food was delicious (you HAVE to get the ricotta appetizer). Service was friendly and attentive. We will be returning. In fact, we're hoping that they will somehow come up with a way to continue outdoor eating as the temperatures start to drop.
My friend and I had a nice evening. Easy to make a reservation on Open Table. I enjoyed the chicken piccata. I also had the chopped salad. We enjoyed the ambiance out on the patio with a view of the river and a nice breeze. I thought we were going to be rushed to finish and leave after 90 minutes, but we were not, I guess because it was a Monday and a little bit slower. I would probably go back another time and try a pizza. I thought it was a bit pricey, but figured prices prob. increased due to Covid. My friend seemed to enjoy her chicken marsala too.
Nice outside lunch with friends. Service was fine and ambiance was great. Liked the gnocchi- but forgot to ask them to leave off melted cheese, which to me is unnecessary. Will return soon.
Love the atmosphere and service
Excellent as always
La Scala has very good pizza, pretty authentic. You can also compose your pizze choosing ingredients, and that's what we did: porchetta, zucchini and mushrooms. It was delicious. We also had Ahi tuna which was really good.
The ambience is simple, as a pizza place is usually, and service friendly and timely.
