Went for a ladies night out. It was very nice. The ricotta board is absolutely fabulous. And the Parmesan artichoke salad is delicious. I also had the brussel sprouts and they were awesome too!!!! I enjoyed Lascala’s Birra so much that I returned for lunch the very next day and brought the hubby and one of my sons. They loved it as well!!!
Enjoyable lunch with friends - good service, portions and relaxing water view
Great service from the waiter to the hostess and manager. Food is delicious. We love the ricotta and honey jar!
Wait staff was inattentive, even though the restaurant was not crowded on a Friday night. No one came to the table to refill drinks or ask about our meal. The food was mediocre. Our three entrees did not come out at the same time; one diner waited almost ten minutes longer for her chicken parmaggiano. Truffle fries tasted like regular fries. For the price, entrees should have come with soup, salad, or bread.
Excellent restaurant with fabulous ambiance, great food & friendly staff.
Decent bar-influenced food, cold beer and couple TVs ... everything that I need
The whole experience was really good! Not only was the food incredible but the live band was awesome!
Great food! Great music!
Had the pizza and it was pretty good. My 6 year old son wanted pizza and this was on way to Cooper Golf so decided to give it a try. The server was super friendly to him and really attentive. They really fixed the place up nice compared to the old Lobster Trap restaurant that used to be here. If in the area I would stop back.
Just went for drinks and apps. Everything was very good.
The food was delicious. However, it came out to our table one plate at a time, with a fair amount of time in between. My ravioli came out first. By the time our table of 4 had all received our dinners, mine was barely warm, since I had waited for everyone to receive theirs. I don’t know if it was the kitchen (it was fairly crowded) or if the server missed bringing them out together. In any case, there was no explanation for the delay and I would have enjoyed dinner much more if it had been warmer.
been there a dozen times.....food is consistent, portions are ample....good value
We had a great time. Ordered several appetizers and picked and had drinks.
Couldn't ask for a better experience
This restaurant has been through many names and ownership. The current presentation offers the best food of any in recent memory. The place was, virtually, empty when we were there, so we were, more than amply, attended to. The octopus salad was creatively presented with thinly sliced octopus on arugula with a delicate dressing, tamarind orange slices and roasted pepper and it was quite good. The Penne Carbonara was flavorful, though the portion was small. The Chicken San Remo, on the other hand was an enormous portion with 2 chicken breast pieces with shrimp, crab and a mound of fettuccine in a tasty vodka sauce. We were too stuffed for dessert and took a lot of the Chicken home with us. We'll definitely try them again.
Great selection and portions. Food comes as soon as its ready. Love the apps n pizza. My fave is fra diavolo for entree. Our server was informative n helpful!
Went here for New Year’s eve dinner around 830. Got the sense that it must’ve been pretty hectic earlier in the evening, but things were calm when we arrived. We ordered the Brussels sprouts, cheese fondue, and meatball appetizers and pizza all’s carbonara. Meatballs and pizza were good, but ohhh man. I’ve never experienced anything quite as bad as the Brussels sprouts and fondue. Sprouts were undercooked (hard) and burnt at the same time and smothered in an oversweet balsamic syrup that we couldn’t get through. The “fondue” was like the stringy ball of cheese at the bottom of a French onion soup in a cup of butter - the only way we could eat was to use our forks and cut out gobs of cheese to put on top of the bread (our guess was that it had been microwaved?). We’re not foodies by any means, but these dishes were not restaurant standard. Service was also challenged with order mix-ups and timing issues (received entree before our last appetizer). Meatballs were wonderful and I’m curious about the other pizzas, but not sure I’ll ever get past my first impression to go again.
New Years Eve dinner
Had a great meal from start to finish. Service was impeccable not only our waitress but the entire staff!! Food was delicious, served hot, and not rushed considering we were there on NYE.
New Year’s Eve is often a rushed experience however the food was lousy with poor taste compared to previous LaScala experiences. The service was almost as bad as the food was. Even the wine was room temperature warm wine not even remotely appropriate temperature. Shame because I liked this restaurant until tonight.
Great value. Great tasting food. Menu explained well. Nice bar selection. It’s a winner on all fronts.
Food & service was good. Vodka sauce was excellent. Calamari was good but sauce more oriental vs Italian.
Great service and great food!
My girlfriend and I love dining here! We always have a great meal and leave wondering when we are coming back. Thank you for the great service and amazing meal!
Love, Love,Love the octopus salad. Reminds of my grandmom’s salad. Never got the recipe. Delicious!
Good: food, drinks, ambiance, arugula salad!!
Not-so-good: no one at doirvto greet you, waited about 3 minutes for hostess/waitress to seat us at table. Vegan pizza needs a little more effort-cut those veggies smaller, add more variety! Seems like chef just threw on a handful of large slices of zucchini.
Also—consider adding a rice, barley or other non-wheat option. For those who can’t eat pizza, pasta, Stromboli, panini...
I knew when I walked that I would love the food here! The old enlarged pictures reminded of my grandparents’ pictures from South Philly! Can’t wait to go back!
This was my first visit to the restaurant but not the first time for my wife who had come before with neighborhood friends. The food, service and atmosphere were great! It was much nicer than I expected and will definitely not be the last time we visit. Being that it is within only about a mile of our house and knowing that something of that caliber is in the area makes it even more appealing!
Fantastic! Can’t wait to come back. Loved the meatball salad
We started with 3 appetizers (Brussels sprouts, salumi & cheese board and crispy parmigiano artichokes). All were delicious! For our dinners, we ordered 2 grilled salmon, a braised short rib ravioli and a chicken piccata - We felt all 4 entrees were OK. That being said, we all agreed that the next time we dine at this restaurant, we are going to stick with their appetizers.
Great food, service, and atmosphere. There is an amble bar area with seating. The dining area is also large. In the good weather there is patio seating with a view of the Cooper River.
All around great experience!
I've become a fan of LaScala Birra! The restaurant sits on the Cooper River near the Camden County Boathouse and features a bright, modern, clean dining room and a large outdoor beer garden facing the river. This is one of the few places in the area that offers outdoor dining that's not facing a parking lot or roadway - that's a win in itself - but the beer garden is also large and pleasantly appointed. Add to that, italian food that is casual, tasty and not too pricey, and service that has always been quick and attentive and this is a real gem.
Plenty of free parking, nice location overlooking the Cooper River. Very good food and excellent service. One thing-the bar area is open and adjacent to the dining area. Some of the Happy Hour patrons were getting a little loud making conversation difficult at times. Also, there are large screen TV's not only in the bar area but also in the dining area which was odd. Perhaps the bar area could be separated from the dining area and the big screen TV's moved to the bar area. Overall, a good local dining experience likely to repeat in the summer months when outdoor seating overlooking the river would be nice.
First time visiting, and we were not disappointed! Service, food, and ambiance were all excellent. Will definitely be back!
Truffle pizza was yummy!!! Everything made to order and comes out quick. Attentive service. Will go back!
I have been to LaScala three times and the food and ambience were wonderful. The only problem I had on all three occasions was that the music was incredibly loud. The restaurant is loud to begin with, but then they blare the music so loud you cannot have a conversation.
The food, service and atmosphere are great! Just turn down the music and it would be wonderful.
We were thoroughly pleased with the overall experience of the the restaurant. We felt we received a great meal and a decent price. The restaurant is clean and well decorated, the staff was friendly and helpful. We enjoyed our pizza and appetizers. It would be a lovely place for a party or reception. We will definitely be back.
Having dined here before I suggested 8 of us celebrate a birthday. The food was good. However the busboy spilled hot tomato sauce on one of my guests. Her sweater, slacks and purse were affected. The manager offered to pay for dry cleaning. I believe her dinner should have been comp’d. The waiter mistakenly served Ravoli to another guest who had ordered the Salmon. To his credit he did bring her an order of Salmon packed to take home at no charge. I was embarrassed to have suggest dining here.
Everything from start to finish was perfection. Food, service, atmosphere etc. all on point. Level of food quality and enjoyment alone would be enough of a reason to return even if the place had no roof.
Amazing views, Grandmas recipes and outstanding service! Can’t wait to try Happy Hour
