You probably noticed that this isn’t a brand-new building. That’s no coincidence. In fact, our twenty-first-century establishment is housed in the oldest commercial structure in South Bend, built in 1868 as the Second St. Joseph Hotel. No fake historical patina here–like everything we do, this is the genuine article.
At LaSalle Kitchen Tavern we take food and drink service seriously so you can keep the focus on what matters: relaxing with friends over drinks and a meal.
Live music! Great vibe loved our experience!
Perfect for date night. Cocktails were good and innovative!
Food was absolutely to die for. The music was amazing and service second to none. Definitely have to do it again.
Would have liked more menu choices. Place was cool. Service was great.
I was a little upset with the Open Table app. I was not from the South Bend area so I looked at the menu. It look great so I made the reservation. It turns out there is two separate restaurants at that location and mine was on the 3rd floor, with an entirely different menu. It was just burgers. But they may have been the best burgers I have ever had. Pleasantly surprised. Restaurant was great. The app was very misleading.
Excellence in service, food, and cocktails with a wonderful ambiance and vibe.
Lovely evening. Amazing food and great service as always.
Being sat right next to the kitchen was extremely rude. The restaurant was not full yet all of the guests were sat RIGHT NEXT TO EACH OTHER
The service was at best inattentive; food preparation was both slow and inaccurate. For a 19$ hamburger, one expects a little something more than a severely overcooked hunk of meat.
Everything was great except felt food was overpriced. It was only a burger and fries and close to 20 bucks seems a little high. Waiter was excellent and environment was very enjoyable.
I would like to
Commend our server who was super kind and tentative. We came in for drinks and he was just so kind to us. I wish I remembered his name
Great experience good place to gather
We dined with a group of friends. We all enjoyed the fish dinner, apps, drinks selection and desserts. Our service was excellent and we truly enjoyed the atmosphere and experience. Well done!
We usually eat downstairs in the dining room but decided to meet friends upstairs in the kitchen tavern area. Brian was our server and was outstanding. three of us ordered the fish and chips special and everyone was thrilled. It was delicious. I had the scallops and of course their salad, which I adore! Everything came on time, was delicious and water and drinks were continually replenished. Great evening!!
The chicken and waffles was just not good. Both lacked any real flavor - very bland.
Food was outstanding as was service at the bar from our favorite Kitchen and Tavern bartender, Nate! I hope they reinstate Sunday brunch!
Very enjoyable experience. Would go back for brunch again.
We made reservations for Valentine's day and it was fabulous! We both had a 3-meat omelet and it was seasoned perfectly and delicious! Our server, Dylan was amazing and was on spot with every bit of our dining experience. It was wonderful to experience this superb dining experience for brunch!
Brunch at LaSalle Kitchen was a new experience and it was quite good. The chorizo benedict was very flavorful was just right amount of spice to give it a nice kick, Instead of muffin as the base the hash was an interesting substitution and made the dish much easier to eat without having to use a knife. Mimosa was expertly mixed with just the right amount of orange juice to provide color and highlight the wine taste. Irish coffee served sans whipped cream to allow the Irish whiskey to shine through. Server very personable and tables were well socially distanced. Nice to enjoy a meal in covid times without having to worry about getting sick.
The food was not what I expected. For the price it was not worth it. My mash potatoes was cold and my husbands portion was a lot smaller then what we expected.
My husband and I loved the Speakeasy feel of the atmosphere. We will definitely be back!
Very nice space and friendly service! The pretzel bites were amazing and so were our drinks!
It is an interesting venue however the menu is very limited.
Food was great. Server was horrible. When we told her we had been waiting over 40 minutes for our appetizer and we had a show to get to at 7, she responded that everyone had the same show to get to and rolled her eyes at me. She was horrible.
The food is really expensive for very small portions that we receive, but it is delicious. The menu is really tiny, and sometimes I have trouble finding something that looks good as I am not a big fan of seafood. The biggest problem is that we usually have to hunt down our server when we need anything, especially when it’s the young lady. It often feels like they are “too good” for us to provide decent service.
The food was great, the waitress was horribly inattentive and didn't even order our entrees for about an hour into our meal which ended up making our dinner last well past what we expected. There was live music which would have been nice if I could've heard myself think over it. The volume was overwhelming and the lead singer had the volume up so loud on his microphone that it sounded like he was screaming into my ear which was less than ideal especially on Valentine's Day when I would've liked to enjoy my company. We had to stop our conversation because it was literally impossible to hear. Some volume control is in a great need. We also had to get up and ask for our check because our waitress disappeared. Super frustrating and put a damper on our entire night.
We went there for Valentines Day they put us on the 3rd floor where the bar is That was not what I was expecting! I wanted to sit on the main level I made reservations way in advance on Open table so surprised when they put us up stairs ! The wine by glass was not good ! I was disappointed in the atmosphere! I had a filet and I asked for well done and it came out medium! Our waitress never asked if we wanted bread or dessert or to see a wine list! I felt they wanted us out of there ! We won’t be next year for Valentines Day!
We had a group of 10 and were there to play trivia. The table was ready, the server was great and the manager stopped by a couple of times to make sure everything was good.
Be prepared for spicy dishes to be spicy. The wings, cheese for the pretzel bites, potatoes aloite had a kick. My waygu hamburger with shoestring fries was outstanding and the desserts amply sized (strawberry cobbler and caramel, bacon brownie ) to share.
Great food and atmosphere. You will enjoy yourself here.
Really nice restaurant, People are very friendly and the food is great.
We love LaSalle Kitchen because it is so convenient for shows at the Morris Civic. Everything was very good, the menu was much shorter than our last visit. We missed some of the offerings from the old menu.
