We’re always on a hunt for a good Peruvian restaurant. The service was a little slow at first since the place was full at 8 pm. After serving us our drinks, Willy our host and waiter extraordinaire, gave us banana chips and chanchas. The chips were thin and crispy like nachos and the odd shape of the corn nuts couldn’t belie the fact of its non-GMO origin indigenous from Peru. For appetizers, Willy suggested Papa rellena and Chaufa. The potato croquettes were like cloud pillows on your tongue accompanied by thinly sliced marinaded red onions, which is once again adding aromatic tartness to the dish. Alongside the chaufa were 2 amuse-bouche of mussel ceviche. The serving was so generous that one might consider to skip the entree at this point. The batter of the Chaufa is as light as a tempura and I’m just a little disappointed that the pickled red onions stole a bit of the seafood’s crunchiness. The entree, grilled Pargo (red snapper) was plated simply in a middle-eastern tradition with yucca also reminded me of the Philippine islands. So in just one night, I was transported to at least four countries. The restaurant might not be Michelin star in standards but their food speaks to the heart. Our dinner ended with a shot of pisco sour, (I had been fully converted to E-PISCO-Palian drinker since my Peruvian trip years ago) and a plate of tres leches cake to share. It’s a perfect dinner.

It's a shame I had to give 1 star for food and value as I got no food so there was no value. We arrived to a mostly empty restaurant and had to wait 10 minutes to be seated even though the server past us several times. We were shown to a table, got menus and ordered. 50 MINUTES LATER I flagged down another server to inquire about our food. 10 minutes after that I flagged him down again to be told the kitchen was backed up. In the hour we sat there the only food that came out was take out orders. When I insisted to know how long it would be for our food he very unconvincingly muttered 10-15 minutes. At this point we put down money for the sodas and left. I repeat. We were there an hour and only takeout orders left that kitchen. Dont bother.

I was dinning with my daughter and we got delayed so we had to change our reservation. It was a late Sunday night dinner and the staff waited for us. They were so nice and very efficient. The food was good and plentiful. It was our first time there and both my daughter and I would go back again. The restaurant is not high end fancy but it was clean and well run. I think you should try it out and make your own decision

Long wait time for food. They admitted they had a large Uber order and were taking there of that instead. Food was good but I wouldn’t go back. Just too long to wait, especially with small children.

My wife and I love this location. We came from Westchester County, and during our wedding venue search on the LI area we would be going here after every venue to discuss and enjoy delicious food. Excellent food, chorizo and skirt steak are amazing and chimi sauce is excellent.

Drove from Long Beach for dinner after making reservations on Open Table for 9PM dinner. Pulled up, found a parking spot right out front and very unexpectedly found that they were CLOSED! Not cool at all -- we were hangry at that point. It's fine if you're not going to be open midweek but don't list that you are when you really aren't! How can I recommend this place when this was my experience?

The meat was great…that’s about all I can say that was good for the food. Very nice job on meat. We got a variety. The paella was awful and bone dry. Clams were about to turn and were mealy. The one clam I ate was one of the worst things I’ve ever tasted. The shrimp was not fresh. So disappointing. We’d already sent back the empanadas for being undercooked (cheese wasn’t melted, these were clearly frozen), so we didn’t want to be rude and send back paella but it was terrible. We were the *only* table there aside from the waiter and bartender’s two friends so they were more interested in hanging out with their friends than paying attention to us. It took ten minutes to get the first bottle of wine because the girl was verrrryyyyy slowly cleaning glasses while laughing with her friends. We had to flag people down every time we needed something, which was strange since, again, we were the only table in the entire restaurant and were seated directly in front of the bar/serving station. I get it. Often if it’s a slow night the service is worse, and these kids can’t help the fact that the food was bad so we weren’t gonna give them a hard time about the food. But close the restaurant if you’re not interested in giving great service to people that are paying good money to eat at your establishment. Will not return.

We love this restaurant!! The food is always fresh and delicious, and Mark the owner/chef is THE BEST!! We were a little disappointed with the service, which was fine, but our server seemed a bit inexperienced and not the most engaging. Also, there seems to have been some construction work being done in the main dining room, so we had to sit up front near the bar, which wasn't the coziest atmosphere. We love the mix of music which is piped in, but the tv by the bar was on, causing conflicting noise. This all in NO WAY should discourage you from going to this GREAT restaurant. The food quality and quantity well makes up for any slight misgivings we had this time :)

For a new-ish place it was not bad. It definitely has potential. We went on mother’s day and it was not busy or crowded so we were surprised when The appetizers came out slowly. First my husband’s, the my mother’s, then mine. By slowly, I mean, my husband finished his and there was a wait before my mother’s came out, she finished hers and we waited more before mine came out. Food was OK. My husband’s appetizer (papa rellena) was very salty. He couldnt eat more then a bite of it, i None of us could handle more then a bite (4 adults), which was a little disappointing. As a person who grew up eating home made peruvian food (my background), the food was overall decent. My entree (tallarin verde) tasted good. It’s also my favorite food so i’m a little bias in that. My mother ordered a shared Parillada to share with my sister (who skipped apps), and they’re food was decently seasoned. It came out on a portable grill which was pretty cool. But the flame in the grill also dried up the meats halfway through the meal. I guess its to be expected. Not sure why the service was so slow, especially when it was not busy, at most there was 3 other tables with guests during our stay. If the service gets it together, and the kitchen staff is careful with their salt seasoning, this place has the potential of being really good.
