Las Palmas Restaurant
Tucked into a tiny alcove in one of this city’s trendiest neighborhoods, Las Palmas remains one of Bucktown’s best-kept secrets. Upon entering the restaurant one’s senses are inundated with the vibrant colors of local and international artwork and the festive or melancholy sounds of live traditional music. Las Palmas serves spirited Mexican cuisine in a decidedly upscale, but refreshingly unpretentious environment. Chef Alberto Bailon provides an exquisite selection of courses made from the freshest ingredients with solid roots in Mexican culinary heritage yet with a penchant for inventive whimsy.
Such a great place and the patio is amazing. They also have a great taco tuesday deal!
Celebrated my birthday
Outside seating was comfortable and quiet
Not the best choice for food, ambiance, drinks or value. I think this is a chain restaurant.
We went for brunch. This is such a charming space, and the staff is wonderful. The brunch menu is limited, and typical Mexican food. We sat in the courtyard which was so peaceful. Everything we had was delicious. The best time to go, though, is for dinner as the food is amazingly creative. Nothing typical about it.
I did not find the food quality to my standards.
Fantastic food. Strong drinks. Great garden setting. Highly recommended!
Liked the scaled back menu. Was left cold by a very poor wait team that didn’t serve us once the food came. Had to get up from the table to request drinks and check. Food wasn’t flavorful -chicken fajitas - carne Assada. Have enjoyed this restaurant in the past. Would like to see them step up their game again.
this place sucked. i made reservations for the outside seating & when arrived & told the hostess i had reservations for outside seats she said "outside seats are first come first serve". food wasn't all that. screwed up both my girlfriend & i's order. just horrible. i'd rather eat horse s*** than come here again.
Reliable food, nothing fancy.
Best Mexican food I've tasted. Everything was made fresh, the menu wasn't overwhelming. Great choices of drinks, appetizers, main courses. Recommended this restaurant to anyone looking for authentic Mexican cuisine. Ambiance is beautiful with outdoor seating available.
The food as always was outstanding- the service could’ve been better and those chairs outside are awful u less you happen to be skinny - which I am not
The margaritas are great, the food is amazing, the patio is quaint and the service is fantastic -- I love this place!
Food was okay - service was okay - drinks were great
Great neighborhood restaurant. Always good food! Excellent service.
Food excellent as always, service a little bit slow and at times inattentive although we are regulars to this place. Seems they are having a hard time retaining good help.
$15 for a Marg is absurd
Every visit to Las Palmas is great. Service is always excellent! I totally recommend La Casa Borracha.
The food was absolutely delicious!
Poor service, clearly an understaffed front and back of house.
Great food, speedy service and exactly what we were looking for to celebrate a special night!
I had a reservation for 6 at Las Palmas on Saturday night. We had to push back the time a bit, but the OpenTable app indicated availability so I picked a later slot and thought we were fine. When we showed up to the restaurant, the hostess was distracted and dismissive of people waiting to check in. Finally I spoke with a gentleman who came to the front who told me they did not have a space to fit us but could try to put us at a tiny four top. It was definitely not possible to fit into the space. We had to leave and find other dinner options. Additionally, their website says they have valet parking. They do not.
Food is always amazing a cooked perfectly and best of all the drinks are the best in all of Wicker Park!
Delicious, fresh food. We had an outstanding server and enjoyed the restaurant experience. It does come up on search results for having live mariachi which we were hoping for (in from out of town) so that was the only disappointment. Would eat here again definitely!
Very fresh ingredients and made in house. Attentive waitstaff and nice atrium for dining. Will be back!
My girlfriends and I went here for my birthday dinner, as my suggestion. None of us had ever been. I’d read nothing but great reviews. All of our food was delectable omg everything was seasoned so perfectly! I loved my food. We were planning our next visit while we were eating. The shrimp tacos were the best I’ve had in my entire life and I’ve been eating them over 15 years across the country! The plantains were mouth watering. The bartender is the best! Amazing drinks! Great service! Really nice people here. I can’t wait to go back!
As always!! Food and Service impeccable! Love this place.
Amazing food and atmosphere! 👍👍
Menu last year was more interesting. This year, basic Mexican food. Nothing special
Very attentive staff. It was a "first date" scenario. My date and I arrived right as they were opening. The house music was a little loud for first date conversation. So I politely asked if management would thoughtfully turn the volume down, for the sake of conversation. They did so immediately. The evening went well. Food, beverage, atmosphere...all very good. This took place last Thursday evening. Date #2 was Saturday night. Date #3 was Sunday. We are well on our way to something special. More dates to come.
Thank you Las Palmas!!
Great service great food. Love the space!
Every single time I come here in another great experience, great food and wonderful service!! You can never go wrong coming here.
We’ve been wanting to try this restaurant for over a year, since we moved to the neighborhood. The “outdoor” glass solarium seating area in the back was so appealing we finally tried it out.
The ambiance and decor were beautiful and a nice change. Definitely recommend for a date night or quiet family dinner.
The food was absolutely amazing- exceptional ingredients and just the right amount of spice. The plating was beautiful and the service was top notch. Highly recommend!!
This place has gone downhill in the last year or two. Menu has shrunk, margarita was all ice and tasted like it was out of a can and the waiter was gruff.
Made a reservation for a large group of people for Sunday Brunch and a few extra showed up than I had anticipated. They were very gracious and accommodating with additional tables. For the most part the restaurant was empty so the service was very attentive. The food was great. Everyone had nothing but good things to say about the taste and quality.
The only issue we had was with the check. From the beginning we had asked about separate checks. We were told we could split the table in as many as 4 checks which, was fine with our group. It just makes it easier come payment time. However the server failed to keep track of who ordered what and by the time we asked for checks it was a mess. We ended up having to write down all of our orders for the table and giving them to the server separately while we waited for the bill to be reconfigured. It was a time-consuming process and no apologies were made.
I would definitely go back but wouldn't recommend splitting the check.
Food was good but everything was overpriced in my opinion.
The Food and Service were amazing. Great price, lovely atmosphere, and wonderful staff.
Good food! Great Guacamole and nice size portions :).
Good food, but wildly overpriced. Enjoyed it, but not likely to go back soon, just due to the price. The price did not match the venue at all.
Las Palmas was highly recommended to us by several friends. The ambiance was great, however next time we will try sitting in the back of the restaurant vs the front. The food was good (although expensive), but the margaritas were too sweet. They were good, but honestly was expecting better. But service was stellar and definitely would go back.
