About Las Palmas Restaurant

Las Palmas is a family owned and operated business with strong ties to the city. From East Rogers Park to Wicker Park, we identify with the strain of this urban metropolis and feel a vested interest in providing a communal place for the essentials of human activities.

Tucked into a tiny alcove in one of this city’s trendiest neighborhoods, Las Palmas remains one of Bucktown’s best-kept secrets. Upon entering the restaurant one’s senses are inundated with the vibrant colors of local and international artwork and the festive or melancholy sounds of live traditional music. Las Palmas serves spirited Mexican cuisine in a decidedly upscale, but refreshingly unpretentious environment. Chef Alberto Bailon provides an exquisite selection of courses made from the freshest ingredients with solid roots in Mexican culinary heritage yet with a penchant for inventive whimsy.

Always my favorite spot!!! My favorite is the enchayotadas but I often get the fish tacos too. Delish!

What a great find, was pleasantly surprised by creative, delicious cuisine here, had the Pato which was excellent, the sauce was well balanced with an ample supply of trumpet mushrooms incorporated into the sauce. My friend had a skirt steak over plantains, also excellent. Everything was very flavorful and well seasoned. Will definitely go back next time I visit Chicago.

Food great as always, our server was a little bit too eager and came to the table too many times.

Took family here (party of seven) for brunch to celebrate my father-en-laws birthday. The food, service, and overall experience was fantastic! The staff was so attentive and did not rush us in any way. We have two kids (under seven) and they provided a kids menu and were accommodating with special requests. They also sent a tres leches cake with a candle, which was the best we have ever had! We will be going back...again and again!

I generally enjoyed my experience at Las Palmas. It was my second time eating here and I enjoyed the atmosphere and the service was quick and the server was attentive. I did feel that the food was not as great as the first time. The lighting and the ambiance was nice. Only regret is I mentioned in the notes for my OpenTable reservation that we were celebrating my husband Oliver's birthday so I would have liked for the server from Las Palmas to have mentioned it at least.

This is by far our favorite Mexican restaurant! The staff is incredibly friendly and accommodating. We've been enjoying the delicious food at Las Palmas for years and will continue to do so. Note: they have a wonderful outdoor space in the back which is perfect for summer evenings.

I really enjoyed Las Palmas, the food was fresh. They had a mortar and pestle going the whole time making fresh guac. The flavors were authenic, but had nice twists that held true to latino flavors.

The rib-eye was seasoned very well and was juicy. The margaritas were great! Get the pitcher mid-range to upper tequila.

Had a nice dinner with my daughter on a cold Tuesday night. Cocktails were creative -- one that we had was made with vanilla vodka, malibu and a few other things. It tasted like vacation! Shrimp fajitas and fish tacos tasted great. We plan to come back in the summer to enjoy the patio.

Flavorful food that was somewhat exotic but is definitely comfort food. I had fish tacos and my husband had the mahi mahi. We are both fish lovers and he thought his dish was truly exceptional. The night we were there, the mahi mahi was recommended and I guess they were right! Fair prices for great food.

This was my first time heading there and have wanted to for some time and was not disappointed. Great drinks, great food, great service from very friendly server that turned out to be part of the owning family. Very welcoming and the back patio was a nice surprise with a guitar player for additional entertainment. Great place and look forward to going back again.

Our dinner was most enjoyable. We started off our meal with Sangria and the table side guacamole and both were delicious. We had the crab cake appetizer which was excellent. Very light and delicious. The presentation was nicely done as well. We had the slow pork and it also was a must try. Excellent experience and we will go back with our family!!!

We love Las Palmas. They have great Mexican food and drinks. The atmosphere is wonderful and the staff is very attentive. The only problem is the parking...not much the restaurant can do about that!

Some of the food we ordered came out perfectly, whereas other parts of the meal came out over done or rubbery. Service is really nothing special, no signature greeting, explanation of ingredients/recommendations. Overall, I would try it again as the menu is quite interesting and the food sounds amazing, but I hope service improved. I would skip desserts in the future.

You wouldn't know it from the outside, but once you sit down and peruse the menu, it becomes clear. This is a great authentic Mexican restaurant. From the warm home chips and delicious fresh made guacamole to the fabulous entrees, this place is definitely worth going to. We really enjoyed our meal. The wait staff should probably up their game a bit, as they weren't overly helpful and didn't seem like they really wanted to be there, but the food made up for it.

Las Palmas offers inside dining; patio dining and an atrium area. Our group chose the lovely atrium area. The staff was very friendly and accommodating and the food was really delicious. We had a great time there and I am pleased to recommend Las Palmas.

The food was great and the service was very friendly (if a tiny bit slow, but they were busy). Really though, some of the best Mexican food I've had in Chicago and we've tried a bunch of them since moving here last year. The Cochinita Pibil was outstanding.

Have been meaning to give this place a try for a long time and so glad we finally did! The margaritas were awesome, the guacamole made to order and delicious, and all of our meals fantastic. If we lived in the neighborhood, we would be regulars for sure. Can't wait to be back and to check out their back patio as well! Loved the live guitar music!!

This was my first time at Las Palmas, but I live in neighborhood and was always curious about the restaurant. They have a lovely, quaint, outdoor patio that provided a nice dining experience. The food was great, nothing mind blowing, but I would definitely return for another summer dinner! The drinks were great and they have an excellent selection of creative margaritas!

We were there celebrating the end of the school year for my best friend in grad school. The waitress was amazing and even offered us dessert on the house! However, she could tell that we were STUFFED from our amazing meals so instead, she offered us a shot of their house infused tequila! IT. WAS. AMAZING. Thank you for such a wonderful experience!

This is one of my best experiences. It had very flavorful food and very nice wine list. I have already been here before. They have outdoor seating which is even good in cold temperatures because they have heaters in place. It was quieter that the previous time I visited.

Guacamole and salsa were very very good. Prepared to order. I had the seared tuna tacos which were superbly done. My girlfriend had the carne asada which was both very pleasing to the eye and taste. The first round of margaritas was the best...by the third round they were not nearly as good but I would def come back again
