Las Palmas Restaurant
Tucked into a tiny alcove in one of this city’s trendiest neighborhoods, Las Palmas remains one of Bucktown’s best-kept secrets. Upon entering the restaurant one’s senses are inundated with the vibrant colors of local and international artwork and the festive or melancholy sounds of live traditional music. Las Palmas serves spirited Mexican cuisine in a decidedly upscale, but refreshingly unpretentious environment. Chef Alberto Bailon provides an exquisite selection of courses made from the freshest ingredients with solid roots in Mexican culinary heritage yet with a penchant for inventive whimsy.
Our neighborhood favorite. The guacamole is fantastic - we order extra spicy. The fajitas are perfectly seasoned and delicious - our favorites are chicken and pork. Enjoy the premium margaritas - salt on the rim, of course. The service is always friendly and efficient, and never rushed. Perfectly authentic. Absolutely recommended.
Great service! Great food and very strong drinks! Will be returning
Las Palmas is one of our neighborhood favorites. The premium margaritas are fantastic, the service is great and food is fresh and delicious. Enchayotadas and extra spicy guacamole are our go-to vegetarian dishes for meatless days.
The entrance to this place was packed, but we got our table and we were served delicious mango margaritas to start with. Their queso fundido was good. I tried the Asada and the meat was very tender. Great flavor. Service was nice, but because it was a busy Saturday night, we did have to wait to ask for additional drinks. I would definitely come back but during the week.
Awesome mojitos and eve though it was busy we got seated in a decent amount of time ...maria is awesome
Restaurant was overbooked. We didn't get seated until 9pm for an 8pm reservation. The front of the house appeared to be taking names on a piece of paper for seating although most of us who were waiting had set reservations times. Because the restaurant was so far behind, the table we were seated at wasn't properly set therefore we couldn't even eat the food we ordered because we had no plates or utensils. Overall just a bad experience for us.
Tried to go for Valentine’s Day. The restaurant apparently SEVERELY misjudged their ability to take reservation slots. Because myself and numerous other couples were standing around waiting forever. I counter 21 people standing waiting at the time we showed up for our reservation. We were laughed at when asked about what kind of wait time there was, even with a reservation.
We knew it was pointless so we scrambled to find other plans and went elsewhere.
It was a busy Friday Valentine’s Day but restaurant severely misjudged their ability to honor reservations and thus any reservation was essentially meaningless. Never even got sat or had food.
Food is probably ok, just wouldn’t try this place on a busy night. Pick a slow weeknight.
Food was delicious, staff very friendly. would definitely recommend.
We love coming to Las Palmas! We’ve been here three times now and will definitely keep coming back!
We always start out with the queso fundito and then get the cochinita pibil and molcajete as our entrees, and they’ve been amazing every time. The food is hot and flavorful and exactly what we were craving. We also love the atmosphere. It’s a little eclectic with a mix of contemporary and traditional influences, but it all flows together and makes for a great neighborhood spot.
Had a great New Year's Eve meal. Steak and shrimp were prepared simply but were very tasty. Was just the right portion size. Excellent guacamole and margaritas too!
The restaurant was cute in the front and the glass enclosed back with an outdoor patio is very nice. The walk through from front of restaurant to back is a little weird as you pass through workers’ jackets and a kitchen which I didn’t like. The restaurant could do with some updating too. But the food was great and service was good. I didn’t give it a 5 star for those reasons but otherwise nothing to complain about.
Amazing good, great vibes and awesome service! 10/10
Good experience. Nice friendly staff. Would go back again Food was great
Las Palmas has been a favorite since I moved to Wicker Park. Inventive menu with amazing flavors.
Amazing food, the staff is very curteous. Again, the food is truly great. One of the best Mexican-style places.
Such a great place and the patio is amazing. They also have a great taco tuesday deal!
Celebrated my birthday
Outside seating was comfortable and quiet
Not the best choice for food, ambiance, drinks or value. I think this is a chain restaurant.
We went for brunch. This is such a charming space, and the staff is wonderful. The brunch menu is limited, and typical Mexican food. We sat in the courtyard which was so peaceful. Everything we had was delicious. The best time to go, though, is for dinner as the food is amazingly creative. Nothing typical about it.
I did not find the food quality to my standards.
Fantastic food. Strong drinks. Great garden setting. Highly recommended!
Liked the scaled back menu. Was left cold by a very poor wait team that didn’t serve us once the food came. Had to get up from the table to request drinks and check. Food wasn’t flavorful -chicken fajitas - carne Assada. Have enjoyed this restaurant in the past. Would like to see them step up their game again.
this place sucked. i made reservations for the outside seating & when arrived & told the hostess i had reservations for outside seats she said "outside seats are first come first serve". food wasn't all that. screwed up both my girlfriend & i's order. just horrible. i'd rather eat horse s*** than come here again.
Reliable food, nothing fancy.
Best Mexican food I've tasted. Everything was made fresh, the menu wasn't overwhelming. Great choices of drinks, appetizers, main courses. Recommended this restaurant to anyone looking for authentic Mexican cuisine. Ambiance is beautiful with outdoor seating available.
The food as always was outstanding- the service could’ve been better and those chairs outside are awful u less you happen to be skinny - which I am not
The margaritas are great, the food is amazing, the patio is quaint and the service is fantastic -- I love this place!
Food was okay - service was okay - drinks were great
Great neighborhood restaurant. Always good food! Excellent service.
Food excellent as always, service a little bit slow and at times inattentive although we are regulars to this place. Seems they are having a hard time retaining good help.
$15 for a Marg is absurd
Every visit to Las Palmas is great. Service is always excellent! I totally recommend La Casa Borracha.
The food was absolutely delicious!
Poor service, clearly an understaffed front and back of house.
Great food, speedy service and exactly what we were looking for to celebrate a special night!
I had a reservation for 6 at Las Palmas on Saturday night. We had to push back the time a bit, but the OpenTable app indicated availability so I picked a later slot and thought we were fine. When we showed up to the restaurant, the hostess was distracted and dismissive of people waiting to check in. Finally I spoke with a gentleman who came to the front who told me they did not have a space to fit us but could try to put us at a tiny four top. It was definitely not possible to fit into the space. We had to leave and find other dinner options. Additionally, their website says they have valet parking. They do not.
Food is always amazing a cooked perfectly and best of all the drinks are the best in all of Wicker Park!
Delicious, fresh food. We had an outstanding server and enjoyed the restaurant experience. It does come up on search results for having live mariachi which we were hoping for (in from out of town) so that was the only disappointment. Would eat here again definitely!
Very fresh ingredients and made in house. Attentive waitstaff and nice atrium for dining. Will be back!
