The food is an updated version of the standard Mexican dishes you like, things like shrimp fajitas with a twist or steak with yuca instead of just rice & beans. Very tasty.
The server wasn’t very friendly, seemed like he was in a bad mood. Maybe it was just an off day for him. The food made up for him.
So enjoyed our recent Easter brunch here. We were in the glass atrium; the indoor space is in front with a bar and fireplace- glass artium in rear with comfortable banquette style seating. This was our first visit and we really enjoyed the passion fruit mimosa and the Las Palmas style “hash”- highly recommend! We will be returning!
Very nice. Great food and service.
Best Mexican in Chicago. An under appreciated gem!
It was a great dining experience. Introduced a friend to it and he was impressed as well.
Very good Mexican restaurant on North Ave. The food is superb. Good tequilas.
Service was fabulous. The food was great. Just a tad pricy but not overly so. Definitely worth it! Highly recommend
Went for Sunday brunch and had a great experience. The food was good as well as the cocktails and service.
excellent food & service. my guest raved about the food especially & would like to bring her family
Our favorite Mexican restaurant! We love it here... great food, great service, great margaritas!
I love this place. The food and service are consistently excellent. I don't know why it's never more crowded, but I don't mind not waiting!
The food is incredible, but the service and atmosphere puts this mexican restaurant in a class of its own.
Delicious food and ambiance. The wait staff was very warm and welcoming as well.
Great experience as always!! I ordered the Mar y Tierra (shrimp and steak) which was amazing! My boyfriend got the fajitas, which were absolutely huge! Great food and friendly service keeps us coming back time and again :)
I have been to Las Palmas four times in total and I absolutely love it. The overall quality of Mexican restaurant in Chicago is fairly good. But this place has great margaritas, and great food options that are a little diverse from the usual.
In addition, during the summer they have a lovely patio where you can enjoy your dinner al fresco.
This is a solid place in a mid-range price point. You won't be disappointed.
Las Palmas is a neighborhood treasure. The food is incredible, much more imaginative and delicious than conventional Mexican. This chef has a great touch in blending flavors. It'd be twice the price anywhere else.
The food here is outstanding. Service was good. Neighborhood feeling place with really good value.
It took just a little bit too long for the server to get to our table each time, givin we were the 3rd table occupied. However, the food was amazing as always. Veneras is amazing.
Food was great and the margaritas were as well!
Food was good but the portions are very small, service was super slow for such a small place, no live music as promised when I called to confirm, nothing special about this place don’t know why the reviews are so high, parking was also a nightmare in this area, valet is a joke with these people, they park the car but you have to go get the car yourself??? Of course it’s a lot of money as well. I would never go back it’s a huge rip off for mediocre food, portions so small I left hungry.
My husband thinks Las Palmas has the best Mexican food in the neighborhood with I would say it's just ok. We both agree the chips and salsa (smooth, the way we like it) are yummy, and the guacamole is fine - fresh but nothing special. His favorite is the chicken fajitas. As a vegetarian, my options here are fairly limited, and my food is always very bland. Overall, the cocktails are good, especially the seasonal margaritas. Visit in the summer, when the outdoor patio can be enjoyed; go in the winter and you'll be seated in the main area where's it's really cold every time the door opens.
Neighborhood jewel. Great enclosed patio. Excellent guacamole. We’ll be back!
Always amazing. Such a hidden gem.
Fantastic Mexican cuisine for a great price given the quality.
Always my favorite spot!!! My favorite is the enchayotadas but I often get the fish tacos too. Delish!
What a great find, was pleasantly surprised by creative, delicious cuisine here, had the Pato which was excellent, the sauce was well balanced with an ample supply of trumpet mushrooms incorporated into the sauce. My friend had a skirt steak over plantains, also excellent. Everything was very flavorful and well seasoned. Will definitely go back next time I visit Chicago.
Food great as always, our server was a little bit too eager and came to the table too many times.
Took family here (party of seven) for brunch to celebrate my father-en-laws birthday. The food, service, and overall experience was fantastic! The staff was so attentive and did not rush us in any way. We have two kids (under seven) and they provided a kids menu and were accommodating with special requests. They also sent a tres leches cake with a candle, which was the best we have ever had! We will be going back...again and again!
I generally enjoyed my experience at Las Palmas. It was my second time eating here and I enjoyed the atmosphere and the service was quick and the server was attentive. I did feel that the food was not as great as the first time. The lighting and the ambiance was nice. Only regret is I mentioned in the notes for my OpenTable reservation that we were celebrating my husband Oliver's birthday so I would have liked for the server from Las Palmas to have mentioned it at least.
Fantastic as always.
This is by far our favorite Mexican restaurant! The staff is incredibly friendly and accommodating. We've been enjoying the delicious food at Las Palmas for years and will continue to do so. Note: they have a wonderful outdoor space in the back which is perfect for summer evenings.
I really enjoyed Las Palmas, the food was fresh. They had a mortar and pestle going the whole time making fresh guac. The flavors were authenic, but had nice twists that held true to latino flavors.
The rib-eye was seasoned very well and was juicy. The margaritas were great! Get the pitcher mid-range to upper tequila.
Had a nice dinner with my daughter on a cold Tuesday night. Cocktails were creative -- one that we had was made with vanilla vodka, malibu and a few other things. It tasted like vacation! Shrimp fajitas and fish tacos tasted great. We plan to come back in the summer to enjoy the patio.
Flavorful food that was somewhat exotic but is definitely comfort food. I had fish tacos and my husband had the mahi mahi. We are both fish lovers and he thought his dish was truly exceptional. The night we were there, the mahi mahi was recommended and I guess they were right! Fair prices for great food.
Based on all of the reviews, I expected it to be busier. Fairly quiet, low traffic, but the food was all fantastic.
I was recommended by one of my friends about the restaurant and let me tell you he wasn't lying about how it was good. The service is good and very friendly. The food was outstanding it was so delicious and the price for the entrees are not bad at all. My overall rating for las palmas 10/10
This was my first time heading there and have wanted to for some time and was not disappointed. Great drinks, great food, great service from very friendly server that turned out to be part of the owning family. Very welcoming and the back patio was a nice surprise with a guitar player for additional entertainment. Great place and look forward to going back again.
Our dinner was most enjoyable. We started off our meal with Sangria and the table side guacamole and both were delicious. We had the crab cake appetizer which was excellent. Very light and delicious. The presentation was nicely done as well. We had the slow pork and it also was a must try. Excellent experience and we will go back with our family!!!
We love Las Palmas. They have great Mexican food and drinks. The atmosphere is wonderful and the staff is very attentive. The only problem is the parking...not much the restaurant can do about that!
