Was pretty quiet for a Saturday night so not much atmosphere and the service was pretty mediocre considering it wasn’t busy. Food was nice, but pretty average.

Insgesamt hat es uns gut gefallen. Sonderwünsche wurden gerne erfüllt. Allerdings hätten die Tapas heißer sein können.

Super zentrale Lage direkt am Alex - man darf sich aber nicht von der Fassade abschrecken lassen! Kommt man rein, findet man ein ansprechendes, authentisches Ambiente (Schinken hängen von der Decke, offenes Weinregal, gut sortierte Tapasbar). Das Restaurant hat zwar viele Sitzplätze, ist aber recht verwinkelt, so dass man das nicht wirklich wahrnimmt (allerdings war es auch nicht voll, so dass ich nicht weiß, wie die Lautstärke ist, wenn es voll besucht ist). Der Service war herzlich, angenehm locker, aufmerksam und schnell. Umfassendes Tapasangebot, leckere Paella, Fleisch- und Fischgerichte. Wer hier nichts findet...

Das Las Olas ist eher unscheinbar und nicht gerade in der schönsten Ecke Berlins gelegen. Auch der Innenraum ist zwar sauber und ordentlich, wirkt aber etwas altbacken. Darunter leidet die Atmosphäre ein wenig. Daher ist das Restaurant eher für zwanglose Anlässe geeignet. Dennoch ist das Restaurant zu empfehlen. Der Service wird einem Restaurant in einer erheblich höheren Preiskategorie gerecht. Bei beiden Besuchen waren die Weinempfehlungen ebenso wie die Speisenempfehlungen ein Volltreffer und das Personal überaus freundlich und zugleich professionell. Die Qualität des Essens ist hoch. Die Tappasbar lässt keine Wünsche offen. Dabei hat das Restaurant ein sehr gutes Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis. Ich komme immer wieder gerne her und kann das Las Olas gerade für weniger formale Anlässe empfehlen.

If you like bland food, you will love it here. If you’ve ever been to Spain and like their spicy flavorful food, you will not like the food. We thought we would start out with a few tapas, then order a bit more food. Unfortunately, we couldn’t even finish the tapas. We ordered the patatas bravas, which traditionally comes with a spicy tomato sauce on top. These had no sauce or spice at all...it was simply fried potatoes with garlic and some of the potatoes were underdone. My husband ordered gambas al ajillo, which is traditionally in a very garlicky chili sauce. His had barely any chili and the prawns were boiled rather than fried with no tails. Normally the tails are kept on to give more flavor. We had the pimientos de padrón. Didn’t think you could mess up this dish, but it was also bland...the mildest peppers you could find with way too much salt. He also had the baby octopus, which was meant to come in a hot spicy sauce. That spicy sauce mainly consisted of a really heavy amount paprika, not chili. The sangria was basic, only cut up pieces of lemon in it...no oranges or apples. Highly disappointed. The waiter claimed it wasn’t spicy in order to cater to German tastes. Not every customer in a restaurant will be German and the customer should be given an option of how spicy they would like the food. Everything was just so bland. Not authentically Spanish AT ALL.
