My wife and I have eaten at Las Causelas Nuevas a number of times before. If the weather is good, as it was this week, we like to eat outside. The food is always good and the Mariachi's are outstanding. My wife had the cheese enchiladas and I had the spicy pork chili Verde. Both were exceptional.
The problem was our server. We ordered two "small" Cadillac margaritas. She brought large ones which are $20 a piece. Before we even took a sip we told her we wanted small and she gave us some attitude. We finally told her take back untasted large ones and give us what we ordered and she finally did. We wanted to enjoy the music and were in no hurry to order and after the incident with the drinks she was at our table every two minutes asking us if we were ready to order. The last straw was I had ordered corn tortillas and she brought flour. Normally no biggie but just an indication she did not pay attention to what we wanted. It was reflected in the tip.
Even with all of this, I recommend the restaurant. A warning though When they say spicy pork chili verde they mean SPICY.
Good margarita & food... Wandering mariach too loud. Couldn't have conversation with people we were with when he was near our table. Seems like all restaurants in the desert operate on high decible levels. Live music always ear splitting...
Always a go to restaurant when I am out in the desert with friends. Fun place to go
Wonderful dining experience!!
We both ordered lobsters and they were overcooked. It took forever for our food to arrive. The margaritas and deserts were ok.
We love coming here for family dinners. The outdoor dining is fun and easy with small kids. The table side guacamole is a highlight!
All good, as always. Mariachis! Not my favorite part. Interruptive.... but, hey .... it fits the restaurant well.
Delightful atmosphere and fabulous food
Excellent food and atmosphere. Very lively but also comfortable.
Rock solid food, margs and outdoor seating
The inside dining room was so loud. There were drunk large groups of people at many tables. The food was very disappointing. The patio might offer a better dining experience. It looked nice.
Had the meatless combination of a chili relanos, cheese enchilada and blackbean tostada. The tostado was fantastic. The other 2 were kin d of standard. Was overlly great but not bad at all
Food was very good. Very noisy.
So good! I went back 5 times during my 10 day vacation!!!🎉🌮💫
The place was packed (spring break) and about a 45 minute wait UNLESS you made a reservation with Open Table like I did. Great. My reservation was honored immediately (while crowds of people were in line) and even though the restaurant was packed, service was most excellent and immediate. Barely any wait time for food and it was super delicious.
Best to make reservations if a Saturday night. Lovely lit patio under the stars with a wonderful mariachi trio who had as much fun as the diners listening to them. Our waiter Jorge was amazing. He was very busy but gave wonderful, friendly, and gracious service. He also made a terrific table side guacamole.
Our guests from out of town loved the whole experience.
Very festive atmosphere with a very attentive waiter and great mariachi music. The margaritas were fantastic and the mahi-mahi was delicious. The Carnitas we’re also great. I’d go back in a heartbeat.
Very disappointed in our overall meals
We've been coming here for years. It's pretty, bustling with people and good food. Biggest complaint is the kitchen gets overwhelmed and food takes a long time to arrive, although the wait staff does replenish chips and drinks. But, usually worth the wait. The orders come out right and the food is fresh and tasty.
Excellent Mexican food!! Great mahi tacos & beef enchiladas! Great service & a fun guitar singer! All around fun dining experience.
OVERATED! Period, end of review!
This last experience was disappointing as the front of the house staff were disorganized and unwelcoming. We asked to be seated outside, yet were taken to an inside table. Not a big deal, however, when we walked back to the front and advised of the mistake, the employee didn’t acknowledge the mistake, nor apologize, nor lift her head up from what she was looking at, nor made eye contact, but managed to arrogantly tell us to take a few steps to the right... We get it, the restaurant is busy, yet we remained cordial despite the rudeness. More embarrassingly is that I recommended the restaurant to my out of country guests and they were not impressed with the experience.
Food was overpriced and not good. I had crab enchiladas and the crab was so bad I couldn’t eat them. Shared mediocre fish tacos with my wife. Wouldn’t recommend this place to anybody.
Great food and service!
This place is always excellent! Unfortunately, it was Easter and we could not get our regular waitress outside. The service was not horrible; he just made us feel rushed.
Very nice venue. Economical Mexican food. Great margarita. And food was not too big of helpings like most Mexican restaurants. The mariachi band is very entertaining . A nice family atmosphere
Service was poor. Had to get up and order drinks from the bar cause the server was mia but other we enjoyed everything. Would go back.
Great chips and salsa, good food, well above average service, warm and authentic atmosphere. Who could ask for more?
food was delicious. Food came quickly after we ordered but did not see our server very often.
Food was amazing and ambience was great
Great food and service
We had a great time. Food was good as always. Guitar player/singer was a lot of fun.
Not as good as the closed Las Casuelas LaQuinta. We really miss it!
We had 3 families for dinner including 4 kids under age 8 and 2 teens. Because of the live singer/guitarist who walked around and sang personalized songs at each table, it made the evening fun for the kids of all ages. We tipped the entertainment generously as he made our night and I know he really appreciated it. Food was great (better than it has been in the past few years) and service was efficient and cheerful. We will definitely go back.
Exactly what I was looking for. An expansive and distinctive ambiance, great for kids, better-than-decent fajita-style Mexican fare. Tasty (big!) margaritas.
Always love this place. My favorite spot for outdoor dining on the patio complete with live (not too loud) music, friendly servers and delish food. Margaritas, table side guacamole and fajitas are delish!
Had a wonderful time. Great music. Great fun time will be back.
The waiter was rushed. Sighed when I asked for a refill. He never appeared after our order until it was time to hand out the bill. Food was expensive for the quality.
